00:00EV cars have been getting all the attention, until now. FTN Motion are
00:05bringing over their Street Dog 80, an all-electric motorbike. I've had the
00:10pleasure of riding this for a week now and let me tell you what, my neighbors
00:14love me. It's silent, it looks cool and honestly I think it's the perfect
00:19commuter bike and I'm gonna show you why. The first reason, the tech that this
00:24bike has is amazing. It's keyless entry, unless you use a fob there on the
00:29front of the tank to unlock the bike, but just like your phone, it's a simple pin
00:34code and you're off. On the main screen here we have a few different options.
00:39We've got alarm, which will actually lock the bike and an interesting feature, if
00:44someone tries to get on it and ride away, the alarm will go off and it'll
00:48actually engage the brushless motor back here to push the bike backwards so they
00:55can't roll away with it. Now I need to talk about the look of this
00:59bike. It just exudes cool. We've got all LED for our headlight here, our front
01:06light indicators, then we've got a really nice tail tidy at the back with the brake
01:11light and you've got your LED indicators down the back here. You can choose your
01:16different paint for the bodywork here and here. All this is customizable as well so
01:22you can get different colors. There's one called Pinot Noir which is a burgundy
01:26here and then gold stripe which I also love the look of. We currently have lowered
01:32handlebars here but you can have these raised as well as the foot pegs here.
01:39Another cool little add-on you can do here is this one's the production run free
01:44number 25. You can get this customized as well. I think a lot of EV bikes or cars
01:51try to reinvent the wheel make it look like an EV and I love that these guys
01:56have really made it look like just a classic cafe racer. Now as every rider
02:00knows storage is a little bit of an issue but not with this bike. It's got a
02:05secret compartment given that the battery situated here and your seat. All I have
02:10to do is press open and here I have 30 litres of storage. This thing can hold my
02:21backpack, laptop, groceries, everything. As I said with plenty of storage here you can
02:28actually store another battery so that'll get you up to 140 kilometres of range
02:34which is perfect for commuting. So if I lift up the seat here we get access to the
02:39battery. So this is a 2.9 kilowatt hour battery and at peak power I'm getting
02:45about 7.5 kilowatts. Simple as this. I take the battery out it's a tad heavy
02:52about 17 kilos but enough to just walk into your apartment to charge it and off
02:57I go. All things I've had to get used to riding the e-bike that's obviously I've
03:01got no gears so it's just twist the throttle and you're away. The braking
03:06obviously got front and rear brakes here but one really cool thing is having the
03:12regen braking on the back here. This is quite comparable to your standard moped
03:18both power-wise size-wise but what really sets it apart here is obviously it's an e-bike
03:25so as soon as I twist the throttle I have instant torque that makes it feel really zippy around town.
03:32Let me show you. So it definitely feels a lot zippier off the start. I've managed
03:37hills perfectly fine. It's super comfortable to ride. I've got a slightly
03:42aggressive position with the clip-on handlebars and the pegs at the back here
03:46but what surprised me most is the suspension. I think because it's so light
03:51weighing it about 88 kilos I could literally pick this thing up and move it
03:56but I've just been gliding over the road. Bumps haven't bothered me too much at all
04:01compared to some other bikes where it's been quite cumbersome on the roads on
04:05the northern beaches but it's really proved to be super comfortable on those
04:09shorter rides into town. So there you have it. If you're looking for a bike
04:13that's cheap to run, fun to ride and really cool to look at
04:18then hey, the Street Dog 80 might be for you.
