00:00So I just tested out Tesla's full self-driving supervised here on Australian public roads
00:05and it blew my mind.
00:06So Dean, I've been hanging out with Tesla, man.
00:09I noticed that you've been absent from the office.
00:11This is the first time they've ever flown journalists anywhere because it's their biggest
00:16technology launch.
00:17Honestly, it's probably bigger than any new car launch they could have made, except maybe
00:20the Cybertruck.
00:21Well, that's what I kind of thought it would be.
00:23Yeah, I thought it was going to be the Cybertruck too.
00:24As it turns out, new tech, full self-driving supervised.
00:28So the supervised word has a lot of weight to it because it's not, I mean, it kind of
00:34is maybe, but it is technically a level two system.
00:38Okay.
00:38So what does that mean?
00:40Level two means that you are the driver.
00:42So the most important thing is, whereas level three, you are not the driver.
00:46So it's a liability thing.
00:48Like what kind of conditions were you driving in?
00:50Was this just like suburban roads?
00:51Yeah, we were on everything.
00:53You did everything.
00:53I honestly thought we were going to be on a closed course.
00:55The facility we were at was, it has like a little mini test track.
00:59And I'm like, okay, cool.
00:59We're just going to drive around the test track.
01:01They're like, no, we're doing it on public roads.
01:03And everyone's kind of looked at each other.
01:04Credit to them though.
01:05Like I, you know, there's a million ways this could have gone wrong.
01:08Yeah.
01:08So we were on public roads in Brisbane.
01:11Everything.
01:11Highway, condensed city streets, you know, parking lot.
01:14There's a moment where the garbage truck was stationary.
01:18There was a car on the other side of the garbage truck coming towards me.
01:22I could see it under the garbage truck.
01:25The car saw it.
01:26I was like, how does it know it's there?
01:28That's crazy.
01:29How many cameras does this car have?
01:31Honestly, if someone had, I couldn't tell you.
01:33But I know that it must have quite good cameras because they seem to work pretty well.
01:36It's always been the thing.
01:37It's like, you know, it's only cameras.
01:38There's no LiDAR.
01:39It's no XYZ.
01:39But I mean, dude, it works pretty well.
01:41It's very reactive too.
01:43So like, you know, when it sees witch's hats, when it sees potholes, it can actually avoid potholes.
01:50So it's not, I mean, it doesn't swerve, but, you know, it can see if there's something coming up ahead
01:56or if it sees the car in front of it do a swerve, it does know to do that.
01:59It also does know, like, if you drive down a road and there's a pothole on that road,
02:03then you drive down it again, it knows where all that stuff is.
02:06Right.
02:07So it's like collecting data.
02:08Yeah, yeah.
02:09I mean, I never believed it.
02:10I was the biggest skeptic ever.
02:12Like, I really didn't think this would ever work.
02:14In Australia particularly, because we have such intense rules.
02:18I really never thought it would work, but, you know, there I am behind the wheel of a car
02:23that's driving itself around as long as I look ahead.
