00:07Back together where it all began.
00:09This pool was probably the pool where I swam the best in my whole career.
00:13The 1976 Australian Olympic swim team reunited at the Sydney Harbourside Pool.
00:19There is definitely like a bonding and a camaraderie amongst us.
00:23So the first challenge was to recognise everybody, so we've done that.
00:26The pool is one of the country's most successful with 86 world records set here between 1953 and 1978.
00:35This was my first Olympics and the memories here are unbelievable.
00:40While the 76 team returned from Montreal without gold, many went on to set world records.
00:46The Montreal Olympic trials were actually held at this pool.
00:49So this team were all selected from this swimming pool and that's why it's special.
00:53After closing in 2021, the historic pool underwent a major renovation.
00:58Originally budgeted at $28 million, the project eventually cost $122 million.
01:05This pool played a major role in Australian swimming history, producing Olympians and world record holders.
01:11Now, after years of renovations and delays, it's finally set to welcome swimmers back next month.
01:17I'm not from Sydney, but this pool was one of my favourites.
01:21It's lovely to see it still here.
01:23A place that helped create champions and a long lasting legacy.
01:26A place that helped train at the school legitimacy.
