00:41The last time the Dodgers played in the Bronx, all of that happened.
00:45Costly miscues by the Yankees in the fifth inning, including Garrett Cole not covering
00:49first bases.
00:50L.A. rallied from a 5-0 deficit in Game 5 to win the 2024 World Series.
00:55Hello, everyone, and welcome to Quick Pitch.
00:57I'm Erica Wachter.
00:58Fast forward to now, nearly two years after that fateful fall classic, and the two teams
01:03with the highest odds to win this year's World Series title will finally square off once
01:08again in the Bronx with none other than Garrett Cole back on the mound.
01:11He looked to redeem himself in this rematch as the Yankees go for five in a row, hosting
01:16the best team in baseball to open their second half of the season.
01:23What a way to kick off the post-All-Star portion of the schedule with two of the biggest brands
01:28in all of sports.
01:29First of three between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees.
01:34Second-year right-hander Roki Sasaki, whose last five have not gone according to script.
01:40Jason Dominguez now, and Dominguez with a bullet into the gap.
01:44Jason on his way to second.
01:46Pajas stumbles and has a hard time with it.
01:48Dominguez on his way to third.
01:49Runner to third base for the first time tonight.
01:53Seen a lot of balls.
01:54It's been hard to catch behind the plate.
01:56And that one gets away at the plate.
01:57Here's Dominguez to score.
01:59They just finished the sentence for me.
02:01Danger with that error, getting the runner to third base.
02:04A guy who leads the National League in wild pitches.
02:07In this case, pass ball.
02:09Two outs on the first six pitches he's thrown this inning.
02:11And that'll bring up Todd Helton, Austin Wells.
02:14Wells into center field.
02:16Pajas with a great ranging catch to his left.
02:20Took that one right out of the gap.
02:22The end of a great start from Roki Sasaki.
02:25Everything has worked for Sasaki tonight.
02:28It's really so impressive.
02:29It's one thing to come out throwing with, you know, extreme velo.
02:32He's holding his stuff.
02:33Dodger lineup that leads Major League Baseball in runs and OPS.
02:38And they have been completely shut down by Garrett Cole.
02:42Last thing he wants to do, though, in a 1-0 game is issue a leadoff walk.
02:46And look at this.
02:4896 pitches and Aaron Boone is sticking with him, even though he's had the lefty ready.
02:53He's handled Max Muncy tonight.
02:55Popped him out twice.
02:56Muncy launches one into the night.
03:00The Dodgers take a 2-1 lead.
03:04The ask was too big.
03:05The slider was high.
03:07And Muncy didn't miss him.
03:09Snake bit by the Dodgers again.
03:13And the tying run support here with one out in the eighth.
03:16When Ben Rice heated up in the final weekend of the first half,
03:19he did so at the expense of left-handed pitching.
03:22He is 6 for his last 13 with two homers against lefties.
03:26That one headed for the gap.
03:28More than the gap.
03:29Off the wall in right center.
03:32Grisham around.
03:34Throw to the plate.
03:36It's in time to get him.
03:38It's a perfect execution by the Dodgers.
03:41And that's exactly what they got.
03:43Even right there as he's going to third base,
03:46he's expecting to be held up.
03:47He's not running full speed.
03:49And the Yankees are down to their final chance tonight.
03:52Trying to get on base somehow.
03:55Not going to happen.
03:56A pop-up for Tommy Edmond.
03:59And that's going to do it tonight.
04:012-1 Dodgers.
04:02The final score in the first of three
04:04between these two powers in the Bronx.
04:08Obviously, in hindsight, I probably should grab him there.
04:11Pitched so well.
04:13I felt like he was competitive back in the Mookie of Bad.
04:16And I felt like he had enough to get Max.
04:20It jumps out in front of him.
04:22You know, it's probably when I got Hedrick teed up there.
04:25That's on me.
04:26I should probably get him there.
04:273-0 count to Betts.
04:30Just kind of puts us up against the wall there.
04:33And again, I didn't make a pitch 3-2.
04:36So, you know, I just didn't make two of those pitches.
04:39Two or three of those pitches that inning.
04:40And it cost us.
04:43Roki Sasaki brought the heat on Friday.
04:45He threw 21 pitches at at least 100 miles per hour.
04:48That's a Dodgers single-game record since pitch tracking began in 2008.
04:53Prior to Friday, the most pitches Sasaki had thrown at at least 100 miles per hour in a game
04:57was six back in the 2025 NL Wild Card Series.
05:05Brewers lap runners on the corners after the fielder's choice and gets out Freelich to the plate.
05:10Freelich pops it up left side.
05:12That is drifting in a medium depth left.
05:14Otto Lopez on the run.
05:16He slides and he makes the catch.
05:18The all-star does all-star things.
05:20Tugs on a 98-mile-an-hour sinker.
05:22And Alcantara has issued a one-out free pass to William.
05:25Here comes Jake Bowers in the 2-2.
05:28Bowers swings and misses.
05:29Bat goes flying.
05:30And that one gets caught in the backstop netting.
05:33That's a punch-out for Sandy Alcantara, but very similar to Jacob Marcy in New York.
05:37The bat's just dangling there on a punch-out of Bowers.
05:41What a take by Mitchell.
05:42Second time in the game the Brewers have had two men on base in an inning.
05:461-2.
05:47Check swing and a pitch load.
05:48And Pratt go.
05:49Yes, he did.
05:50Sandy Alcantara.
05:51East Rams runners at first and second.
05:53There's one away for Griffin Conine.
05:55The 1-0 pitch.
05:56That missed high.
05:57Two balls and no strikes.
05:59And now we're going to have Pat Murphy and Lee Meyer come out and check on Logan Henderson.
06:02This is the last thing the Brewers need to have happen right now.
06:05They're okay with letting him continue.
06:073-2.
06:08Conine.
06:08He lifts that one out to right center field.
06:10That's deep.
06:11Flora is back at the track.
06:12And it's gone.
06:14Griffin Conine opens scoring.
06:17Really the first mistake that Logan Henderson has made in this entire game.
06:20So here's Ortiz.
06:22Over one today.
06:23And a fly ball left field.
06:25Back goes Hernandez.
06:27At the track.
06:28At the wall.
06:29Gone.
06:29He has been a different hitter at the plate over the course of the last month or so.
06:34There are two down.
06:35Runners still at second base.
06:37And now here is Eriberto Hernandez.
06:39First pitch to him.
06:40Is a fly ball into right center field.
06:42On the run is Mitchell.
06:43Back.
06:43Jumps up.
06:44And makes a leaping catch on the warning track.
06:47Robbing Eriberto Hernandez.
06:48The automatic runner is 90 feet away with two gone.
06:52And you got the rookie catcher Joe Mack.
06:54Fly ball hit towards center field.
06:56Backing up is Mitchell.
06:57Still back on the warning track.
06:58Leaps up.
06:59Made the catch.
07:00Garrett bangs into the left center field fence.
07:02But holds on.
07:04It's Garrett Mitchell who has been a defensive hero.
07:07The one trying to win it offensively in the bottom of the top.
07:10Ground ball back towards the middle.
07:11That one sneaks through and into center for a hit.
07:13Jackson scores standing.
07:15And Garrett Mitchell pretty much single-handedly won this game for the Brewers tonight.
07:21Fastest to 60 wins in franchise history for the Brewers.
07:24They do it in walk-off fashion today against the Miami Marlins.
07:28Put it on a t-shirt.
07:29It's Brewers baseball, baby.
07:34It's Brewers baseball, baby.
07:36Just pass it from one guy to the next.
07:39Running the bases well.
07:40Playing good defense.
07:42It's good to get a win to start the second half.
07:44Yeah, I mean, you think about his career to this point, you know, and all the injuries.
07:51He's never had a chance to get on track.
07:53And then if you watch him in spring training, you're like, oof.
07:56And what the kid has done, just give him credit.
07:59He keeps showing up.
08:00And he's getting better in the outfield.
08:01Yeah, swinging the bat the way he has, you know.
08:05Well, there's the rare walk.
08:10Only his fifth walk in his fifth start this season as he walks Peña, the leadoff hitter.
08:15Peña's the one guy who's always handled just fine.
08:17One for 15 lifetime is Peña against Kramer.
08:20Alvarez seems like he's 11 for 15 against everybody in the world.
08:242-2 pitch.
08:25Sky to the left center.
08:26Pretty well hit.
08:27Colton counting near the wall.
08:29It's off the top of the wall.
08:31That almost left the yard the other way.
08:34IBI double for Yornan.
08:36Start the MVP chance.
08:38And it's 1-0 Astros.
08:40Isaac Paredes had a base hit his first time up.
08:42Bats with the infield back here.
08:45First and third.
08:45Nobody out.
08:46That ball in the right field is going to score a run.
08:48You would think Dylan Beavers makes the catch.
08:51And he won't even attempt to throw with Peña running down the line.
08:54Paredes gets down to the count.
08:56Still drives in a run.
08:57And it's 2-1 Astros as they retake the lead.
08:59Another start in which Lambert gave his team six innings and a big chance to win tonight.
09:04Outside from another great overall start, Lambert set a career high in strikeouts.
09:08Reaching double digits for the first time in his career.
09:11Bases are full of Astros.
09:14And what a chance for Cam Sanders to announce himself to Orioles fans and teammates.
09:19He just arrived today.
09:21Breaking ball struck him out looking.
09:23Two out.
09:23And he's just got to go get Christian Walker.
09:25He popped him off.
09:26He's got it.
09:27And Sanders is out of the inning.
09:30Welcome to Birdland.
09:31Cam Sanders.
09:33King another lefty in the Houston pen.
09:35The Astros bullpen not having a great year except for the closer hater, Oakard and King.
09:43Grutchman switch hitter.
09:44Batting right-handed for the first time tonight.
09:46Adley shoots it up the right field line.
09:48Bidding for the corner.
09:49That is a fair ball.
09:50And then it hops out of play for an automatic double.
09:54Grutchman breaks the string of ten consecutive Orioles retired.
09:57Here's Ward 0 for 2 with a walk.
09:59Fouled out his last time.
10:01That's charged out to deep left field.
10:03Taylor Ward turning the left field around.
10:05And it is gone!
10:08And just like that, Baltimore jumps on top.
10:12They just killed the king.
10:14They got a double and a home run.
10:16And four pitches into his night.
10:18Now the Orioles are on top.
10:19The Astros have the tying run at second.
10:22The winning run at first.
10:23And Christian Walker bats with two outs in the ninth.
10:26And he got him to finish the ball game.
10:29What a sweet finish here in Houston.
10:31The Orioles come out of the break.
10:33They extend their winning streak out to five.
10:37Some sad news to share now.
10:39Former two-time All-Star Ron Hunt has passed away at the age of 85.
10:43Hunt played for 12 seasons, racking up over 30 war for the Mets, Dodgers, Giants, Expos and Cardinals.
10:49Hunt also holds a special place in Mets history as he was the first Met ever to start an All
10:54-Star game.
10:54Doing so in 1964 at the Mets' home park of Shea Stadium.
10:59Hunt broke into the majors at age 22 and finished second in the 1963 Rookie of the Year voting to
11:05future hit king Pete Rose.
11:07Hunt was known for getting hit by pitches, setting the single-season modern record with 50 in 1971.
11:13And had the live ball record for most in his career when he retired.
11:17He's since moved to fourth in that category.
11:20Hunt was quoted as saying,
11:21Some people give their body to science.
11:23Yes, I give mine to baseball.
11:25We here at MLB Network send our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.
11:31Ron Hunt was 85.
11:43They got a little edge going right there, a little swagger going.
11:46All they can do is chip away.
11:48They win all three in L.A.
11:50They don't know exactly what's going on, but it's a lot of fun.
11:53That ball's gone!
11:54See ya later!
11:56The Red Sox are pouring it on in Chicago.
12:00Red Sox rip off four straight.
12:01Five straight.
12:02Six, seven in a row.
12:04They just keep winning.
12:05The boys are hot eight in a row.
12:07How do you like nine straights?
12:09You want a memorable win?
12:11You got one, baby!
12:14The Red Sox look to stay red hot.
12:17For the second straight season, Boston entered the All-Star break with a win streak of at least nine straight
12:22games.
12:23They're the only team in MLB history to ever be able to say that.
12:26But unlike last season, this time out of the gate, they look to keep it rolling because they're right back
12:31in the race.
12:31As winners of 14 of their last 16 overall, the Red Sox have gone from six and a half games
12:37back in the final AL wildcard spot to just a half game.
12:40It's a doubleheader at Fenway as the Sox go for 10 in a row.
12:44Time now for Rays and Red Sox as seen on Afternoon Baseball presented by Banana Boat.
12:49Sox lead 2-0 as we head to the bottom of the fourth.
12:52Masataki Yoshida with a double.
12:54We'll rip this one high toward the pesky pole down the line.
12:58And that ball's gone!
13:01Masataki Yoshida with a home run!
13:03And 3-0 Boston!
13:05The man's on fire.
13:06He really is.
13:07That's his third home run in the last nine games.
13:09So they're all loaded up with nobody out.
13:12Jaron Duran did drive in a run.
13:13He's 0-1 today and there's no place to put him.
13:16Ground ball and off the glove.
13:18It's into right field.
13:19That's going to drive in two.
13:21Duran with RBIs 2-3 on the day.
13:245-0 Boston!
13:25Carlos Narvaez the batter against the right-hand throwing Chris Roycroft.
13:29And he drops out a bunt.
13:30Runner trying to score.
13:32And will.
13:33And the throw is up the right field line.
13:36Duran heading into third.
13:37They'll stop in there as the throw comes back.
13:40They lead it 6-0.
13:42They're Tampa Bay in the race.
13:44I'd love that.
13:44Still nobody out.
13:47Chang the batter.
13:48Red Sox trying to make this a huge inning.
13:50Another bunt.
13:51Kiss down the line.
13:53It is!
13:54And another run will score!
13:57Red Sox doing it any way you can do it!
14:00And it's 7-0.
14:02Now, Raffaella made a third-two out.
14:04And a drive out to left field.
14:05Back toward the wall.
14:06High up there.
14:07Off the green.
14:09Another run scores.
14:11Sedan for second base.
14:12And a stand-up double.
14:148-0 Sox.
14:16Attempt you to walk to pitch to Durbin here.
14:18First and second.
14:19More only down 8-0.
14:218-0.
14:22Interesting.
14:22He'll chop that one through the open space.
14:25That'll make it 9-0.
14:27Second hit today for Durbin.
14:30Second time he's been on base here in the sixth inning.
14:33This is a party right now.
14:349-0.
14:35Red Sox with a commanding lead here in the seventh.
14:37Here's Narvaez.
14:38Swing and a high drive.
14:40Deep to left.
14:41Narvaez gets one.
14:43And she's way out of here.
14:45Totally out of the ballpark.
14:46Red Sox putting it on Tampa Bay.
14:50Narvaez certainly is 10-0.
14:52Oh, that number 10 has a magic ring to it today.
14:56Boa trying to get the final three outs of this game.
14:58We give the Red Sox a 10-game win streak.
15:01Two down.
15:02Man on first.
15:03And popped off.
15:04In comes Romy Gonzalez.
15:06He makes the catch.
15:07And the Red Sox go 10-for-10.
15:0910 runs to win 10 straight.
15:15Now all of a sudden you work a walk.
15:17You've also...
15:18The pitch count of Rivera starts to climb.
15:20You start to eat into the number of pitches.
15:22And now you've given yourself an opportunity to strike first.
15:25DeLuca stands in.
15:27Three on, two out.
15:28Rays looking for their first runs of the day.
15:30Swing and a line drive.
15:31Pass the diving shortstop.
15:33In a left field.
15:34A base hit.
15:34One run is in.
15:35Here comes Malade.
15:36Here's a throw home.
15:37It gets past the catcher.
15:39Wong on to third.
15:40Goes Mullins.
15:40And a second DeLuca.
15:41The Rays take a 2-0 lead.
15:44Doubled in game one.
15:45Doubles in game two.
15:46And now Willier Abreu who's on twice in part one of the doubleheader.
15:51And a high drive.
15:52Right field.
15:53Back it goes.
15:55It is gone.
15:56Over the bullpen.
15:58Number 12 for Willier Abreu.
16:00And the Red Sox very quickly tie the game.
16:03Wilson back at it now.
16:0520 home runs.
16:0661 runs batted in.
16:07Swing and a high fly ball.
16:09That is deep to left as well.
16:11Watch this one.
16:13It is gone.
16:15Back to back go to Red Sox.
16:18Welcome back Wilson.
16:20We having fun yet or what?
16:21He crosses home plate and he's trying to get the crowd into it.
16:24He's got a flare.
16:25For the dramatic moment.
16:26Top three at Fenway.
16:27Red Sox hit 3-2.
16:28Here's Camonero.
16:29Base hit to right.
16:30His first advantage.
16:32Oh boy.
16:33Tie game if it stays fair.
16:35And it's fair ball home run.
16:36Number 29 for Junior Camonero.
16:38And it's a 3-3 game.
16:40I mean absolutely launch.
16:42Top of the zone.
16:42He barrels it.
16:43And it gets out of here like right now.
16:46Willier Abreu takes a curveball for a strike.
16:48Starts the bottom of the third inning in a tie game.
16:51Swings and drives another one.
16:52Right field deep.
16:54Backing up to Luka.
16:55He watches it go.
16:57He's done it again.
16:58Abreu.
16:59Two at bats.
17:01Two bombs at Fenway.
17:03This swing is under control.
17:04You can see the balance after it and the follow through.
17:07Two homers here.
17:08Back to back.
17:09No doubters.
17:10Red Sox do add another run.
17:12They're on top 5-3.
17:13Red Sox are one out away from 11 in a row.
17:16One more out.
17:17And the Red Sox are 48-48.
17:19And a two-strike pitch.
17:21Got him!
17:22The Red Sox wagon rolls on.
17:2511 straight wins.
17:27As the Red Sox get back to 500.
17:29What a glorious day at Fenway Park as the Red Sox sweep the first-place Tampa Bay Reds.
17:36Got two more against these boys.
17:38Trying to take the whole weekend.
17:43We'll just try to keep the momentum.
17:47And, you know, it's amazing right now to play like this.
17:51In front of this crowd, you know, everybody starts to feel the vibe.
17:56You know, I think it's amazing.
17:58So just keep it rolling.
17:59It's nice, you know, but there's a long way to go.
18:02It's not time to look at it.
18:02Just right now our mindset should be who we face tomorrow.
18:05Let's figure out how to win a game tomorrow.
18:07But definitely want to applaud the work that they've done over the last two and a half weeks
18:11to get in this position.
18:14The Red Sox have outscored their opponents by 46 runs during their 11-game winning streak.
18:20It's the longest win streak by any team this season.
18:22And the longest for Boston in nearly a decade.
18:25Boston is back at .500 for the first time since entering play March 29th with a 1-1 record.
18:35So now the first eight in the Braves lineup have reached.
18:39The only man that hasn't is the man coming up now.
18:41He can change that here, Brewer-Hicklin.
18:43And look at this, right off the bag.
18:45And all nine have reached already for Atlanta.
18:49And we're only in the fourth inning.
18:50Here comes Drake Baldwin trying to add on to the lead.
18:53Baldwin deep to right center.
18:55A three-run Baldwin bomb.
18:58I mean, he laid the wood to it.
19:00Five-nothing Braves in the bottom of the fourth inning.
19:03They have pounded Quantrill.
19:043-1 pitch.
19:05This is deep toward the pole.
19:08It is fair.
19:10And Atlanta now has a 6-0 lead.
19:14I mean, they are locked in on Quantrill here in the fourth inning.
19:17But for Chris Sale, he's ready to rock and roll,
19:20Frenchy, his 18th start of the season here tonight.
19:23Well, look, as you get going in the second half, right,
19:25this is where you heard Wiley say he might be, you know,
19:28pitching a little more on regular rest.
19:30You need this guy right here to do what he's done all year.
19:33That is career strikeout number 2,700 for Chris Sale.
19:37Seems to be no signs of slowing down.
19:40Can he finish the night with a strikeout?
19:42There it is.
19:43Six strikeouts for Sale, seven scoreless.
19:46Fly out by Jim Jarvis, led off the inning,
19:49then Brewer-Hickland struck out.
19:50Since then, walk, hit batter, and another walk.
19:53Kind of losing control of the strike zone.
19:55If you're Michael, you can really zero in a spot right here
19:58and look to try to clear the bases.
20:00How about a blast?
20:01High to right, towards the chop house, and off the wall.
20:07Clears the bases.
20:09It is 11-0 Atlanta.
20:11There's going to be two in scoring position here for Victor Medeiros.
20:15He's the first pitcher to hit in a Major League Baseball game this season
20:19for any team.
20:20Come on, Medeiros.
20:21Oh, yes!
20:23How about that?
20:24And it's going to score two.
20:27The pitcher steps up there.
20:29That's definitely his first hit.
20:31It is.
20:33Get that baseball.
20:34What a moment for Medeiros.
20:36Look at the celebration.
20:38And now he's coming back out to pitch.
20:40As Gretchen said, it's like Shohei Otani part two here.
20:43Mateo.
20:45Braves win.
20:46They start the second half with a bang.
20:49Going to have for a much better start than this.
20:51Get those bats going.
20:54Chris sailed through the Rangers lineup on Friday.
20:57He allowed just two hits and struck out six and seven shutout innings.
21:00He also reached 2,700 strikeouts for his Major League career on Friday.
21:04The future Hall of Famer is the fastest pitcher ever to reach 2,700 punchouts.
21:11As air quality has been an issue throughout the country in the wake of the Canadian wildfires,
21:16the Pirates and Guardians postponed their game on Friday in Cleveland
21:20due to the poor air quality conditions.
21:22Pittsburgh and Cleveland will play a split doubleheader on Saturday in order to make it up.
21:29Well, when the Padres took a three-run lead in the top of the 10th,
21:32you thought the game was over, right?
21:34Not so fast.
21:35You'll want to stick around for the highlights from a crazy Padres-Royals game.
21:44Both of these teams took chances on Japanese sluggers.
21:48Show me the moon in!
21:52Kazuma Okamoto monster shot.
21:55Where would this team be without Kazuma Okamoto?
21:58Into the 500 level!
22:00Are you kidding me?
22:02Five straight games with a home run!
22:05Another home run for Okamoto!
22:08You can spell clutch with a K!
22:10My goodness, he has been a home run machine!
22:13What a performance from the Japanese sluggers!
22:19They were two of the top Japanese free agents from the offseason.
22:22And on Friday, Kazuma Okamoto and Munitaka Murakami were set to go head-to-head.
22:27The former WBC teammates have put on a show in their respective rookie seasons.
22:32Okamoto's next home run will break his tie with Shohei Otani for the single-season record for homers by a
22:38Japanese-born rookie.
22:39But it's a question of who will hold the record at season's end.
22:42Because despite missing six weeks with a hamstring injury, Murakami is right behind the record with 20 homers himself.
22:49So let's see if the long ball played a factor Friday night in Toronto.
22:57So they're in business for Kyle Teal.
23:00And the White Sox have the lead.
23:01The young Chicago White Sox, big knock after big knock, putting pressure.
23:05I think what we've witnessed in this inning really is illustrative of how dynamic this offense has been all season.
23:13But this team slugs and hits home runs.
23:15But it also can do what we've seen in this inning.
23:17This is drilled.
23:19Right field.
23:20Could be trouble.
23:22That ball is gone!
23:24Sam Adonacci makes it a 5-0 lead for Chicago.
23:29This young White Sox team seems like they're picking up right where they left off.
23:33Colson Montgomery.
23:35Chance to really break it open.
23:37There's a swing and a line drive.
23:38Base hit left center field.
23:40Mindroth scores.
23:42And Tanazi right behind him.
23:43Murakami will score from first base.
23:46That is a bases-clearing double.
23:48Gotta wonder if that's a knockout blow here in Toronto.
23:51Big innings for the White Sox.
23:52Blue Jays have actually scored in more innings.
23:55They've scored in four separate innings in this game.
23:58They're chipping away at this lead.
23:59It's now a four-run lead for the White Sox.
24:01Four runs on three homers for the Blue Jays.
24:04And the bases are loaded.
24:06Braden Montgomery will step in.
24:08And he smacks one to right field against the new pitcher.
24:11Braden Fisher.
24:12That'll get down into the corner.
24:14And it might clear the bases again.
24:16Three runs will come home on a bases-clearing triple for Braden Montgomery.
24:22And the White Sox have blown it open in the seventh.
24:25Braden Montgomery with his first career big league triple.
24:29Five-ball on the right field sending Straw back.
24:32He'll make the catch.
24:34Montgomery will tag and head home to make it a dozen on the night for the Southsiders.
24:39A 12-4 final.
24:41And a statement win to start the second half for Chicago.
24:45They are having fun.
24:46And they are winning while doing it.
24:51Seven of the White Sox' 12 runs were driven in by rookies.
24:55Highlighted by a Sam Antonacci home run and a Braden Montgomery three-run triple.
24:59Chicago rookies lead the major leagues in hits, home runs, extra base hits, and RBIs this season.
25:09Here we go with Fernando Tatis Jr. facing Seth Lugo.
25:14That's in the air and fairly deep to right.
25:16It carries on Caglione all the way to the fence.
25:19And he's got it.
25:20Jack Caglione takes one back to start the night.
25:23A home run rock.
25:25Lane Thomas to lead off the bottom of the second inning.
25:28And he hits it high in the air.
25:29Deep left field.
25:30The ball's carrying tonight.
25:32That one's out of here.
25:34Over the fountains for Lane Thomas.
25:37Whoa.
25:37Game tied 2-2.
25:39We go to the bottom of the eighth.
25:40And Vinny's got a stolen base.
25:42The lefty-lefty matchup with Massey.
25:45And he shoots it to left center.
25:47Here comes Pat Squintino.
25:49Merrill unleashes the throw home.
25:50It's there.
25:51He goes in there.
25:52The Royals have the lead.
25:54Michael Massey.
25:56Padres down to the last out as Ty France comes to the play.
25:58Ty France has been an absolute royal killer in his career.
26:02If ever there was a tie.
26:03Ty France hits it in the air to left field.
26:05Back goes Collins.
26:06He's at the wall.
26:07It is gone.
26:08The royal killer comes to KC and ties it up in the ninth.
26:14Mason Miller back from the All-Star game.
26:16End of the game.
26:17It's a double for Carter Jensen.
26:19And now Collins just 90 feet away from the winning run.
26:23Swing and a miss.
26:24He struck him out.
26:25First out here of the inning.
26:27Swing and a miss.
26:28Bases loaded.
26:29Nobody out.
26:29He strikes out back-to-back hitters.
26:31Swung on and miss.
26:33Strike three.
26:33Three straight strikeouts to leave the bases loaded.
26:37Padres take the two-run lead on top five to three.
26:41Fly ball center field sending Thomas back.
26:43Tang at third base and coming in is song.
26:46Padres take the 6-3 lead.
26:48Sack fly for Bogerts.
26:50The Royals are in business here in the tenth inning.
26:52Michael Massey steps to the plate as the potential tying run.
26:55Throw to the right side and Cronenworth slides to stop it.
26:59Everybody's safe.
27:00It's a two-run game.
27:02And so the bases are loaded now for a guy who's also been out of the plate, Isaac Collins.
27:07And a swing and a bouncer to the right side.
27:09Second base to Cronenworth.
27:10Another run.
27:10Scores.
27:11Cronenworth comes in.
27:12It's 6-5.
27:13And the batter will be Carter Jensen.
27:15Who, if he can single the outfield, he's got a chance to win this game.
27:18There you go.
27:19Through the left side and base hit.
27:21Massey's in to tie the game.
27:22Here comes Lockton.
27:24Throw home.
27:24Not in time.
27:26The Royals win.
27:27The KC kid with his first walk-off hit.
27:33Yeah, it was an exciting game.
27:35You know, the crowd showed out.
27:36You know, it was such a fun game.
27:38You know, to be able to do this with these guys and, you know, just battle back.
27:42Never give up.
27:43Like I said, just be relentless.
27:45At that point, down by one.
27:46You know, just trying to get the tying run in.
27:48You know, if I get the winning run in also, cherry on top.
27:52So, it's team baseball.
27:54You know, there's not a soul on this team that's selfish.
27:56You know, everybody just wants to win together.
27:58They don't want to win individually.
27:59So, you know, when we're playing games like that, it's so much fun.
28:05Spencer Steer was getting bored just hitting your run-of-the-mill homer.
28:08So, he decided, did an inside the park or two.
28:11Full highlights of Reds and Rockies.
28:13It's next.
28:18Now, it's off to Wrigley for the same game, Parley Spotlight, presented by FanDuel.
28:26Now, we look ahead to the next chapter of MLB All-Star Games at Wrigley Field.
28:32No score, bottom of the first.
28:34Two on, nobody out.
28:36Here comes Michael Bush.
28:37Line drive, base hit, right field.
28:40PCA around third, out of its way to the plate.
28:43Roads throw.
28:44Two right.
28:45RBI single Michael Bush.
28:47And the Cubs have the lead.
28:48It's 1-0.
28:49Let's see if the Twins can do what they did so well, execute with runners in scoring position.
28:54The best in baseball at .286.
28:57And Larnick, in particular, almost .390.
28:59Ray stays at the .3-2.
29:00Line to left field, and a base hit.
29:03Keyshawn scores.
29:04Great is second base.
29:05And Trevor Larnick ties things up with a third-inning RBI single.
29:09It's 1-1.
29:10They're on it first and second for Jeffers.
29:12Colin Ray, he's a guy that Twins, I think, can get to and put up a three or four or
29:16five spot.
29:17High drive, left field and deep.
29:19Back it goes towards the bleachers and gone.
29:22Ryan Jeffers.
29:23And the Twins lead it 4-1 at Wrigley.
29:26They mentioned both their ability to hit with runners in scoring position.
29:29Leading the league in runs scored.
29:30That sweeper ended up center cut.
29:32I'm going to go out and say he was sitting for an off-speed breaking ball pitch, and he did
29:37not miss it.
29:37Here in the bottom of the eighth, it's the heart of the order for Chicago.
29:40Suzuki, Bush, and Bregman.
29:42To left center field and the alley.
29:44Keyshawn over Keyshawn.
29:46Yes!
29:46Oh!
29:47And he got there!
29:49That's an athlete in center field, Luke Keyshawn.
29:52He closed some serious ground on this ball.
29:56Looked like he was going to find the gap.
29:58Byron Buxton who?
29:59I don't really mean that, Buck.
30:01Read his lips.
30:02He said, wow, Carson Kelly represents the Cubs' final chance.
30:07Served out to right center.
30:09It's fitting that Luke Keyshawn will grab it to end this game.
30:12And the Twins, for the first time since April 22nd, are back to .500 with a 5-2 win.
30:24And we head to the sixth.
30:26Reds and Rockies tied 1-1.
30:27Right on, right matchup for Spencer Steer.
30:30Uh-oh.
30:30And a smoke by Steer to left field.
30:32Moniak fading back.
30:33Line drive home run.
30:35And the Reds ahead 3-1.
30:37Boy, did that sound good coming off the bat.
30:39Suarez at the plate.
30:40He had a double to right field.
30:42And now Suarez seems to be having a little trouble with his, I don't know if he's having trouble
30:47with his batting glove or his wrist or his hand or what.
30:52Yeah, he was definitely grimacing, shaking out that left hand after that last swing.
30:56And keep in mind, remember, he got hit on that hand.
30:590-2 on Suarez.
31:00Back in there now.
31:01Says he's fine.
31:02This one lifted.
31:03Left field.
31:04Moniak going back.
31:06And that is gone.
31:07Back-to-back shots for the Reds in a 4-1 lead.
31:10Left hand only on the bat that appeared.
31:13And he course-fielded it out of here.
31:15Singer has been outstanding.
31:17Great starts for Singer back-to-back.
31:19You know, he's in a groove right now, Singer is, where he was just pinpointing the ball
31:23where he wanted to, either on the edge or just off the edge.
31:27And the right-hander who's in this Rockies lineup really had no prayer.
31:30It's 5-2 Reds after 7.
31:32The last time the Rockies brought in somebody to face Spencer Steer, he hit a homer.
31:36Spencer Steer, first pitch, driven to right center.
31:39McCarthy sprinting way back.
31:41That's off the wall.
31:42Aiding from right, Tyler Freeman.
31:44Steer steaming through second.
31:46I'm only home.
31:47They're sending him for an inside the parker.
31:49The throne of a play.
31:51Yay!
31:53Inside the park home run.
31:55Spencer Steer.
31:57Woo!
31:58His second homer of the game.
32:01Needs oxygen.
32:02Yes.
32:03Man, is that fun.
32:04So now Ellie Daler-Cruz, who has started his second half with a bang.
32:09He's 3-4 in this ball game.
32:10Ellie swings, drives this high, deep, right center field.
32:14There it goes.
32:14It is gone.
32:16Fourth head of the night is a round tripper for his 16th home run of the year.
32:207-2 Reds.
32:22Even though J.J.
32:23Weatherholt is the NL Rookie of the Year favorite, he somehow didn't make the All-Star team.
32:28Maybe he was fueled by that snub because he started the second half off with a bang.
32:33Full highlights are next.
32:36Quick pitch.
32:41Clyde Wright, who threw out the first pitch, threw out the first couple of pitches.
32:45Trout encouraging Clyde to throw a strike.
32:49And look at this.
32:50He does the old granny shot.
32:52He told me he was going to roll it.
32:53I said, I'm going to crush you on the broadcast.
32:56I said, Trout, he's crushing him there for maybe that first pitch.
32:59Rolled it in there.
33:00And then he bounced it anyway.
33:01So Trout gave him a lot of grief, and rightfully so.
33:04But 1-0 lead.
33:05So Reed Denver is able to get two outs on three pitches to start this sixth inning.
33:09He faced Spencer Torkelson.
33:12Look out.
33:13Yeah, man.
33:14What a catch.
33:16That is outstanding.
33:18Well, your scouting report paid off.
33:21Wow.
33:22Ah, what a catch.
33:23That leads it up to Haya Lee.
33:25Haya Lee, two on, two out.
33:26Last 0 for the Tigers.
33:28Lee has struck out, lined out, and struck out.
33:300 for 3 tonight.
33:33In the air, right center field.
33:35This is down a base hit.
33:38How U Lee comes through.
33:40The game's tied.
33:42Now the Tigers have the lead.
33:44Glad you stayed up late.
33:46Oswald Peraza, who came in for defense, replacing Von Grissom back in the seventh, will hit here.
33:53This to third.
33:54A high chopper.
33:55Tough catch.
33:56McGonigal to first.
33:58Yes, sir.
33:59What a play.
34:00Kevin McGonigal goes vertical and hauls off with a dagger to first.
34:07Base two down.
34:08Mechler advances to third on the play.
34:10Siri to second.
34:11See a good speed out there.
34:13He is the batter.
34:130 for 3 with three strikeouts tonight.
34:17Chopper.
34:18Shortstop.
34:19Z-Mac is there for the final out of the Tigers.
34:23Rescue the opener after the break.
34:30Oh, a lot of baseball left to go.
34:32This is game number 98 on the season for the Mariners.
34:36This team's going to take off.
34:37I mean, their pitching is just so good.
34:39He hits a high drive towards right center field.
34:41Going back on it, Robles.
34:43At the wall.
34:45Gone!
34:46Bryce Eldridge!
34:48His ninth home run of the year.
34:50It's 2-0 Giants.
34:52Started out as a really good pitcher's duel through the first four innings.
34:55Now, Bryce had a chance for a full six innings, but new pitcher coming on.
34:59It will be for rare.
35:00You got to face the master of contact, Luis Arise.
35:03This is not somebody you will likely strike out.
35:06You just hope he hits it at somebody.
35:08Arise bounces one toward the middle, and it's going to be booted by Young at second.
35:14The run will score, and I give Drew Cavanaugh an assist on that play.
35:193-0 Giants.
35:21Well, the Mariners trying to make sure things don't get away here.
35:23Bases jammed, down 3-0, seventh inning.
35:26Quiet game for Willie Adamas.
35:270-3 at the plate.
35:29Now a driven toward the gap in right center field, and that's going to be gone!
35:36Adamas over the wall for a grand slam!
35:40What a swing!
35:417-0 Giants!
35:44Blew this game open.
35:45Mariners trying to solve Roof, and they haven't yet.
35:48Yeah, a lot like his last start against the Blue Jays ten days ago.
35:52He was efficient in that game, and that's been something that's been lacking.
35:56Landon Roof's been phenomenal.
35:57Six innings pitched.
35:59He's only given up two hits.
36:00And the Mariners just giving him a chance to go deep into this game.
36:04The lack of offense has been the number one storyline for the Seattle Mariners.
36:09Gilbert's going to run that one down, and Roof has seven shutout innings tonight in Seattle.
36:19And it is up to Mason Wynn, with the bases folded, now two out.
36:23Can't let this guy off the hook.
36:25Off the mantle, a base hit!
36:26One run scores, here comes Burleson around third.
36:29And Mason Wynn, with some first-inning magic, puts the Cardinals in front.
36:34D-backs are on the board, they trail 2-1.
36:36Plug and play, here he is.
36:37It was certainly Talabunga over the weekend at L.A.
36:40Tim Talabunga's at it again!
36:41This one is on its way to the wall!
36:43And we are tied!
36:46Talabunga!
36:47Unbelievable!
36:48Tal has been on a tear here, he gets things even.
36:51Back to the top of the order, J.J. Weatherholt is ready to go.
36:55Danny, what an exciting first half for this young man.
36:58Swing and a drive!
36:59Tank measure time for J.J. Weatherholt!
37:03Oh man, that was killed!
37:053-2 St. Louis!
37:06He signs a big deal, he goes and has his first all-star break in the big league.
37:11And comes out and earned a mistake pitch.
37:14The Redbirds extend the lead, it's 4-2.
37:16And it's a leadoff walk to start at the gate, the head of Corbin Carroll.
37:19Here's Corbin, who's 0-3.
37:21Corbin Carroll lines it down the line and right!
37:24Hang on, ball!
37:25It's gone!
37:27Corbin Carroll is back and we're tied at 4!
37:30Somehow that one hung on!
37:32That's his 14th and it's 4-4!
37:34And it's there for the taking for the Cardinals.
37:37Bases loaded and nobody out.
37:39The stage is yours, Yvonne Herrera.
37:41Let's see if he can get the ball airborne.
37:43High fly ball left, that should be deep enough.
37:47There's the catch.
37:48Here comes Vermeen.
37:50The throw is going to be late.
37:53And the Redbirds take a 5-4 lead.
37:55Tim Tawa keeps it alive.
37:57And here comes Marte, the winning runs at the plate.
38:01Strike!
38:01Take 3 and the Cardinals have won it!
38:04Cattell didn't challenge.
38:05And that would have been overturned.
38:07That's a ball.
38:08Cattell's got to challenge that.
38:09Oh, absolutely.
38:10He's got to challenge that.
