00:00Kylie and Malia, you're back for round two.
00:02What is it like returning to your iconic characters for Descendants, Wicked Wonderland?
00:06It feels so special, and, you know, putting on that red wig has become second nature at this point.
00:13But it feels really cool to kind of have grown up with this character
00:18and bringing just my own personal evolution to the character.
00:23And I think with the last film, you know, Red was rough around the edges,
00:28is definitely more of a villain than anything.
00:31And she kind of evolved into this hero and kind of picking up where we left off.
00:36And now she's embracing the fact that she is kind of a hero now.
00:41And she has to step up to the plate and be the leader and be, you know, a role model,
00:46essentially.
00:47And I feel like I kind of tried to take inspiration from her and also try and be that on
00:52set as well.
00:53And, you know, being that role model to kind of guide the new incredible cast
00:58who are all stars and amazing and shine in this film.
01:01So I was happy to kind of, you know, be that person for them as well.
01:06Agreed.
01:07I mean, I feel like it's really wonderful to be able to say that you literally grew up with these
01:11characters in a way of...
01:12I remember being 15 when I auditioned to do this project.
01:17And now 19, we get to be able to represent this in a way where we get to show the
01:23chapters of life that we've gone through ourselves
01:25and learn lessons along with these characters.
01:28The Blue and I will never be separated.
01:30I don't think I'm ready to say goodbye at all.
01:32And I hope this isn't goodbye.
01:34But it was a real joy to be able to watch, I don't know, I guess even see your guys'
01:39lens of falling in love with these characters
01:41in this world that we were able to on the first film and that we had growing up as well.
01:46So returning felt so, so easy.
01:49It was a celebration for sure.
01:51And, Lea Mani, you're entering the franchise as Pink.
01:59Were you a fan of the film series beforehand and what was it like coming into this world?
02:03I was such a big fan.
02:04Oh my gosh.
02:05I remember being so little and coming home from school and the first thing that I would do in the
02:11mornings too,
02:12I would always turn on Disney Channel and watch all the DCOMs and all the original movies.
02:15And every time that Descendants would be on, I would literally geek out.
02:19Like, I remember trying to memorize all of the dance moves and remember all the lyrics.
02:23And I wanted to have purple and blue hair so bad.
02:27Like, I wanted it so bad.
02:28We're still time.
02:29You got pink it now.
02:30Now I got pink.
02:31But, yeah, I remember being such a big fan and being so inspired by all of the people in the
02:36movies.
02:36And I'm just so honored and grateful to be a part of this franchise.
02:40It's such a beautiful thing.
02:42And this cast, oh my gosh.
02:44Like, not a dull moment on set.
02:47We always had so much fun and I feel like you can really see it on the screen.
02:50Red forms a surprising connection with Louise Magical.
03:00I got it.
03:02It's okay.
03:03First rescue's free.
03:04What was it like to explore this side of her and how was it working with Alex?
03:08It was so sweet and wholesome.
03:11I think, like, you know, Red showing this softer side of herself and exploring her vulnerability was really cool.
03:19I feel like it just gives her so many dimensions.
03:21And she's so layered and complex.
03:24But this was something that I remember even from filming Rise of Red.
03:28I was like, I hope in the next film Red gets a love interest.
03:31It'd be fun to just, you know, showcase that side of herself.
03:34Because I feel like in romance you're, like, the most vulnerable.
03:38And for someone who is so guarded all the time, I think, you know, having Louise kind of break her
03:44walls down.
03:45And he's so different from her.
03:47The classic VK and HK romance, you know, that we saw with Mal and Ben.
03:52And it was like, oh, they're from different worlds.
03:54But they're, like, coming together.
03:56I think we kind of have that same essence with Red and Louise.
03:59And it's cool seeing how they kind of, I guess, bridge the gap from being so different but coming together.
04:06And it's really cute to see how they, how Louise grows on her.
04:09Because at first she's like, I don't know about you.
04:11But, you know, he warms up to her.
04:14He's got to get through pink first, okay?
04:15Exactly.
04:16It was so sweet seeing them fall in love.
04:18My older sister falling in love.
04:20And Malia, you know, Chloe breaks bad a little bit in this film.
04:25Thanks to a little bit of magic from Max Hatter.
04:29And what's with the makeover?
04:31Red.
04:33You know, I wasn't having fun anymore, being good.
04:37So I decided to do things your way.
04:39How fun was it to play the evil Chloe?
04:42Oh my gosh, it was so much fun.
04:43Chloe is, she has her evil Chloe moment, which I personally love.
04:47I remember sitting down with Kimmy Gatewood, our director, and her, we did this practice exercise
04:52where I was, like, running around our, like, green room.
04:57You guys remember that, like?
05:00So random.
05:01Kimmy loves improv, but, like, she was, like, now act as if, like, you're the meanest person
05:06in the world.
05:06And we just, like, found out her physicality within that, like, running around.
05:10And little things, like her dagger turns black.
05:13And I think those little intricacies just kind of made her who she is.
05:17And being able to have the fun and play with that, because she gets to that evil point.
05:22I think that's the fun part about villains is that they get to an evil point for a reason.
05:26You know, they have this sense of validity that happens throughout their story, and they're just
05:30misunderstood, and they go about it in a way of healing that is eventually very damaging.
05:37But it's fun in the moment.
05:40So being able to, like, see her look and see how she came together was a dream.
05:44It looks insane.
05:46I still, I don't really recognize myself when I see it on the screen.
05:49I'm like, who is that?
05:51I remember the first day she came on set, and I saw her in full evil, Chloe.
05:55I was like, my jaw was literally on the floor.
05:58I was like, this is not Malia.
05:59This is, like, it was so crazy.
06:01But she looked absolutely beautiful.
06:02So insane.
06:03Kylie and Leamani, what secrets lie within Red and Pink's box of treasures that could
06:11potentially lead us into a six movie?
06:19One sec.
06:25Do we want to tell him?
06:26Do we want to tell him?
06:27I don't know if he can reveal all our secrets.
06:29He can reveal our sister secrets.
06:31Some things have to remain in the pink and red treasure box.
06:36Honestly, what even is in our treasure box, though?
06:38You know, I want to say it's a bunch of cool things that our props department put together,
06:44but no, we're going to leave it at it.
06:46It's something more mysterious and magical, and I guess we're just going to have to wait
06:51and find out.
06:51We're going to have to wait and find out.
06:52You're going to have to wait and find out.
