00:02Hang Myoku, a former Korean model and singer, developed an obsession with plastic surgery.
00:07She had her first procedure at age 28 and quickly became addicted, moving to Japan to undergo more surgeries.
00:14She had so many procedures that her face became noticeably enlarged and disfigured.
00:20Eventually, doctors refused to operate on her any further, diagnosing her with a psychological disorder.
00:25One doctor gave her a syringe and silicone so she could perform injections at home.
00:31When her supply of black market silicone ran out, she became desperate.
00:35She began injecting cooking oil into her face.
00:39The cooking oil caused her face to swell to an enormous size, leaving her permanently disfigured.
00:45Her once smooth skin became lumpy and distorted.
00:48Her face was so large that she was called standing fan by children in her neighborhood because of her large
00:56face and small body.
00:57She appeared on Korean television, and viewers donated thousands of dollars to pay for corrective surgery.
01:03During the first of ten operations, surgeons removed 60 grams of silicone, oil, and other foreign substances from her face,
01:11and 200 grams from her neck.
01:13However, the damage was too severe to fully repair, and she remained significantly disfigured.
01:21In October 2005, Stella Obasanjo, the 59-year-old first lady of Nigeria, traveled to a private clinic in Marbella,
01:29Spain, for a liposuction procedure.
01:31The surgery, performed by Dr. Antonio Mina Molina, went horribly wrong.
01:37During the procedure, a tube used for removing fat was mistakenly placed into Stella's abdominal cavity.
01:44The tube punctured her colon and lacerated her liver, causing severe internal bleeding and contamination.
01:51After the surgery, Stella began to fall seriously ill.
01:55She was left unattended for four hours.
01:57The surgeon, Dr. Molina, initially failed to answer his mobile phone when staff tried to reach him.
02:03When he finally responded, he waited more than four hours before taking any action.
02:09Instead of calling an ambulance, he chose to drive Stella in his own car to an intensive care unit at
02:14a nearby hospital.
02:15By the time she arrived, her condition was critical.
02:19She died in the intensive care unit two days later from the complications of the botched surgery.
02:24Dr. Molina was later convicted of negligent homicide, sentenced to a year in prison,
02:30disqualified from practicing medicine for three years, and ordered to pay $176,000 in compensation to Stella's son.
02:41Jocelyn Wildenstein, a Swiss socialite, became a tabloid fixture in the late 1990s due to her dramatic and ever-changing
02:49appearance.
02:49Her story is one of extreme cosmetic surgery, driven by a desire to please her billionaire art dealer husband,
02:56Alec Wildenstein, who had a passion for big cats.
03:00Jocelyn began to surgically alter her face to appear more feline, hoping to win back his affection.
03:06She underwent numerous procedures, including multiple facelifts, brow lifts, lip and cheek implants, and eye reconstruction.
03:15Her skin was pulled taut, her eyes were stretched into a feline shape, and her lips were plumped to an
03:22unnatural size.
03:24The surgeries were so extensive that her face became a caricature of a cat, which earned her the nickname Catwoman.
03:32Despite spending millions on these procedures, her marriage ended in a messy and public divorce.
03:37In the settlement, the judge famously ordered that she could not use any of her alimony money for further cosmetic
03:45surgery.
03:46Jocelyn died from a pulmonary embolism at a hotel in Paris on December 31st, 2024.
03:55Christina Ashton Gorkani, a 34-year-old model and Kim Kardashian lookalike, died on April 20th, 2023, after receiving illegal
04:04cosmetic injections.
04:05The procedure was performed by Vivian Gomez, a 50-year-old woman who was not a licensed doctor, in a
04:12hotel room in Burlingame, California.
04:14Gomez administered several silicone injections into Christina's buttocks to enlarge them.
04:19Shortly after the procedure, Christina began to suffer from complications.
04:24Her family received a frantic phone call at approximately 4.31 a.m. from someone at the scene, screaming that
04:32Christina was dying.
04:33She was rushed to the hospital, where she suffered a massive cardiac arrest.
04:37Doctors were unable to revive her.
04:39The cause of death was determined to be related to the illegal silicone injections, which had entered her bloodstream, causing
04:46a fatal blockage.
04:47Vivian Gomez was later arrested at the Fort Lauderdale airport and charged with involuntary manslaughter and practicing medicine without a
04:55license.
04:56The case is being investigated as a homicide.
05:01In 2004, April Michelle Brown, a 46-year-old hairdresser and mother of two, sought to get a curvier figure.
05:09She went to a woman who claimed to be a plastic surgeon for silicone buttock injections.
05:15The woman injected April with what she believed to be medical-grade silicone.
05:20However, the injections were actually industrial-grade silicone, the same kind used as a bathroom sealant.
05:26For five years, April's body seemed to tolerate the injections.
05:31But in 2009, the injected areas became hard and painful.
05:36The skin on her buttocks turned black, a sign of necrosis or tissue death.
05:41The pain was excruciating.
05:43She was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered a massive staph infection.
05:48The infection was so severe that it had spread throughout her body, causing her to go into a coma.
05:55To save her life, doctors had to amputate her hands, her feet, and the flesh of her buttocks.
06:01She was in the hospital for six months, undergoing 27 surgeries.
06:06She was just 24 hours from death.
06:10April survived, but her life was forever changed.
06:16In December 2020, Jocelyn Canna, a 30-year-old Instagram model and influencer with over 11 million followers,
06:23traveled to Colombia for a second Brazilian butt lift, a so-called BBL procedure.
06:29The surgery, which involves grafting fat from one area of the body to the buttocks, is notoriously risky.
06:36During the procedure, it is believed that a fatal error occurred.
06:41The most likely cause of death in BBLs is a fat embolism, where fat is accidentally injected into a blood
06:47vessel
06:48and travels to the lungs or heart, causing a blockage.
06:51Although the exact details of Jocelyn's surgery have not been officially released,
06:56this is the most common cause of death in such procedures.
07:00News of her death broke on social media when fellow model Lyra Mercer tweeted about it.
07:05A video of her funeral was later uploaded to YouTube by the Aix family funeral home,
07:11showing a casket with a large photo of Jocelyn next to it.
07:14The caption stated that she had entered eternal life on Monday, December 7, 2020.
07:21Her family never officially confirmed the cause of death,
07:24but it is widely accepted that she died from complications of the BBL surgery.
07:28of the natural death and the suspect's 23-0.
07:41They'll say that she's not ums if she died from the에서.
07:51But it is not as the testing of the BBL surgery.
07:53The link is also on the run of the BBL surgery.
07:56and the same, and that's it.
