Today’s featured work, [Le Grain], was written based on the core theories of the master of modern semiotics, Roland Barthes: "The Grain of the Voice" (Le Grain de la voix) and "Punctum." Barthes described the "Grain" as the physical texture felt in a singer's voice or an instrumental performance, moving beyond the mere delivery of lyrics or melody. While it cannot be fully explained in words, it possesses a primal charm that directly pierces the listener's heart.
This project visualizes the process of experiencing the "skin of sound" with one's entire body through LP records—which carry scratches, dust, and a unique sense of warmth—instead of the sterile smoothness of digital audio. The line "Texture, texture—The only melody that cuts through the static" sings of the raw physicality of sound. Furthermore, the declaration "Wherever my ears decide to rest, the skin of the music breathes" reflects the designer's attitude of accepting sound as a living entity rather than mere information.
