02:04So there's a professional dog trainer that has a pet Pomeranian

05:25You have been roping since diapers?
05:29We've been, yeah.
05:30It's been a while.
05:31My dad's had me on a horse in diapers.
05:33I mean, if I could pick up...
05:34Since I could pick up a rope, we were trying them, so dogs and cats and goats and brothers and
05:41whatever.
05:42And they've been catching you on TV for a while.
05:45Yes, sir.
05:45Yeah, been for a little bit.
05:46Been kind of in the game since I was...
05:48I got in when I was like 17.
05:50Started doing a few things here and there, stunt work, and Chris Howell got me on some stuff,
05:54and then I got in with Chad Dashnaw and stayed at his place for a while.
05:58And then got a manager and an agent and everything, and it just kind of led into all this.

06:39When I was little and brace face and...

06:46So let's go back to that.
06:49So where'd you grow up?
06:50What'd you do?
06:51Just did roping?
06:52Did you try any other rodeo events or just roping?
06:54I just roped.
06:55I mean, I grew up in New Mexico.
06:57I'm not going to say the town because we still kind of live there, but I grew up in New
07:01Mexico
07:02and parents all roped.
07:04Both my parents, both sides of my grandparents, they were all ranchers and cowboys and they
07:08roped and everything.
07:09And I grew up healing a lot.
07:11I headed when I was real little because my dad didn't want me to cut my fingers off.
07:14And I grew up heading and then I finally started healing, went to healing a bunch, healed until
07:18I was probably, I don't know, a couple of years ago.
07:21And then I sold all my heel horses and went to heading.
07:23And yeah, I played baseball, played a little basketball and stuff.
07:27When I was growing up, I didn't do anything else really.
07:29I didn't try the rough stock events.
07:31I mean, at the house and stuff, we'd mess around on whatever.
07:33But I roped calves when I was in junior high, but that was about it.
07:36I wasn't ever big enough to roped calves or bulldogs.
07:38All right.
07:39All right.
07:40So what made you go from that to get the acting bug, to give that a shot?
07:45When I was little, I always wanted to be an actor.
07:46I mean, I loved movies.
07:48I called them old James Dean and John Wayne and everything like that.
07:51And I loved the whole film aspect, creative side of everything.
07:55And I wanted to be an actor, but I didn't really know if it was possible, if that was
07:58a thing that you could do and kind of got to doing some stuff.
08:02And my dad, he ended up, well, he worked on a show called The Cowboy Way.
08:06He doubled Kiefer Sutherland and he got in real tight with him.
08:09And then he ran a ranch for him for a couple of years.
08:11And so I knew a lot of people in the game.
08:13My dad knew a lot of people in the game and he knew Chris Howell.
08:15He worked with him a little bit and just kind of got to talking to those guys.
08:18And I mean, I wanted to be an NFR cowboy for the longest time.
08:21And then I just kind of switched completely and wanted to do the acting deal and the stunt deal.
08:26And I really just wanted to be an actor.
08:28And a buddy of mine actually came through and Craig Branham came through
08:31and tried a heel horse of mine.
08:33And when I was probably 16, it showed me a bunch of videos of what he does for a living.
08:37He's falling off horses and taking bullet hits and stuff like that.
08:40And I was like, that'd be cool to do.
08:41You know what I mean?
08:42Like, that'd be cool.
08:43And we know somebody that did it.
08:44So we started talking to my dad and I started talking to him.
08:46He's like, yeah, let me make some phone calls.
08:48And just kind of got into the game and worked my way up.
08:51And now we're here.
08:52I'm very blessed and very thankful.
08:54Okay.
08:54So going back to doing this stuff, so what are some of your first roles or some of your
09:00first acts and stuff that you did?
09:02I got in doing stunts.
09:04I worked on a show called Nine Days for Chris Howell.
09:07And then Chad Dash and I worked for him on Macbeth.
09:09It was a Warner Brothers movie with Denzel.
09:11And I did a lot of stunts and stuff like that.
09:14And then the acting deal, I got on a show called Big Sky when I was, I don't know how
09:18old.
09:18It was probably 19.
09:20And then I got on the Winchesters for like an episode here and there.
09:24And then this deal came through and got on this.
09:26And just was doing stunts every now and then throughout the whole process.
09:29And so, yeah, now we're just going to see what happens with this.
09:33And it's been fun.
09:34Let's see how it goes.

09:35So are they doing a season two with Duden Ranch?
09:37It got confirmed.
09:38Yes, sir.
09:38Yeah, it got confirmed.
09:39I don't know anything about anything else.
09:41You didn't know nothing yet?

09:43But it did get confirmed there's going to be a season two.
09:45So, yes, sir.

09:47So working on that show, from working on the other stuff that you've worked on to working
09:54on the shows, you know, on the Duden Ranch, on the, you know, what they call the Sheridan
09:59Universe deal.
10:00Yes, sir.
10:00How different is it on that show than working on the other shows?
10:03This one just felt like home.
10:05I mean, because it was a dream role, to be honest.
10:09I got to play a cowboy, and I've been a cowboy since I was, you know what I mean, born.
10:13And it was just a, I got to just focus on the acting.
10:18Like, I wasn't focused on learning how to ride or learning, like, if I got on some NASCAR
10:23movie, I'd be trying to figure out how all that stuff works, you know what I mean?
10:27Like, you get on something like this, and it's already home for you, and you're just
10:31so, I mean, it's like walking.
10:33You know how it is to be on a horse, and it's just like walking.
10:36And so all you're doing is focused on the acting, and it just made it so easy.
10:39And the directors and the Wranglers, I mean, Christina Varro, she is phenomenal at her
10:44job.
10:44She's one of the best directors I've ever seen, and made it really easy.
10:48And, I mean, Cole and Kelly and all them guys, the whole cast was so fun and so cool
10:52to work with that it made my job very, very easy.
10:55Yeah.
10:56Yeah, Christina's great.
10:57She's done a lot.
10:58She is phenomenal.
10:59She is great.
11:00The Madison and part of Yellowstone and this one.
11:04And, yeah, she's going to be doing them for a long time.
11:07She's very, very good at her job.
11:08I was sitting there a bunch out there when they were doing the, when I was working, I
11:11used to work at charity events for them over there in Fort Worth.
11:13Yes, sir.
11:14And we talked to all them guys and talked to her and stuff.
11:16And then I was sitting around on the Madison when I was, I was a chef on the Madison.
11:19Yes, sir.
11:19They cut me out when I was there.
11:21Yeah, yeah.
11:21And, you know, and just watching her work, I mean, she just, she knows what she's doing.
11:26She's got her mind, and she just goes.
11:27She knows exactly what she wants, and she's just so good at working with actors and being
11:32like, hey, let's try this, or let's do this, or this is what we're thinking.
11:36And she's phenomenal, phenomenal.
11:40Now, on one of the episodes where you had the, y'all had roped, y'all did a team roping
11:44deal.
11:45Yes, sir.
11:45So was that something that was part of the script, or was that something they just kind
11:48of threw in there?
11:48It was like, hey, these guys can rope, you know, you got some roping guys, maybe we'll
11:51drive some roping, or did they just?
11:52I think it was kind of a deal.
11:54Well, they kind of knew I roped, and a lot of the stunt guys around there, the stunt
11:57coordinator, Jordan Warwick, he's a seven-header.
12:00I mean, he ropes really good, and they just had a lot of guys that could rope, and so I
12:03think they just thought it would be a cool deal.
12:05And then the one scenes got thrown in, I wore my buckle on the show, and it was the one
12:09that
12:09I had won with my dad in 2015, and they liked it because it was big and shiny and pretty.
12:15That deal, that whole joke kind of got thrown in there where we just started talking about,
12:19you know, you like that buckle, and I'm like, yeah, you like it because you can't win one,
12:23or whatever, you know what I mean?
12:24And then it just kind of led into all the roping stuff, but no, that one was a fun day.
12:29It was a really, really fun day.
12:31Yeah, I see.
12:31Then I was like, man, what does this have to do with anything?
12:34Yeah.
12:35And I was like, ah, and then I was like, okay, there's some ropers in there, so yeah,
12:38you got to have a little bit of fun.
12:39Yes, sir, for sure.
12:40Yeah, let the Cowboys have some fun.
12:41Yeah, have some fun with it.

12:43So when were y'all filming?
12:45Was it all during the summer?
12:46It was, we started back in August, started in August, and then we got done in May-ish,
12:56June-ish, somewhere around there.
12:59Took a pretty good break for Christmas, and then shot through everything.
13:02Then went back again?
13:02Yes, sir.
13:04All right.
13:04So down there where y'all were filming, I know it's rocky country, it's over, you know,
13:11it's supposed to be, you know, where it is, but did everybody camp out there?
13:16Did they set y'all up and camp out, or how'd y'all do that?
13:19No, sir, we all stayed in and around kind of the Fort Worth, Dallas area, and then just
13:23drive to set every day.
13:24Just drive every day?
13:25Yes, sir.
13:25No big campers or nothing?
13:27No, no, we didn't do none of that, but yeah, it was cool.
13:30Okay, all right.
13:32All right, so other than roping and acting, what else do you catch yourself doing when you're
13:38not doing that?
13:39I've been playing some golf lately.
13:41Golfing?
13:41Playing some golf, it's been, it's been, it's a very humbling sport to get into.
13:46It's kind of like team roping, but you lose about 35 golf balls, and it's like a, it's
13:51not like team roping, because you don't have any partners there to kind of help you, you're
13:54just out there on your own, and it's, it's a very frustrating game, for sure.
14:00Oh, you know, I've probably been playing a little golf these last couple years, and we
14:03do a, there's a tournament deal that we're in every year over there, and it's, every,
14:08every year before the tournament, I go buy two or three big boxes of golf balls, and I
14:13get the bright, bright green, bright neon greens, and I fill up my bag just full of golf balls.
14:20Yes, sir.
14:21And we'll get done, and I'll have four or five left over.
14:24Yeah.
14:25At the end of the day.
14:25That's how it usually is, that's a, that's a rough game, but yeah, I know that, and go
14:30to the gym, and it's about it, it's work.
14:34So you live in New Mexico, are you, you got any plans of moving?
14:38I don't know, we're gonna see.
14:39I'm getting, getting married this year, and so we got a, got a bunch of new things happening,
14:44and Jaden Utash, if you're out there, just kidding, you're right here.
14:47Um, but no, it's, uh, it's been fun, we're, we got a lot of new things happening, a lot
14:53of big things happening, so we're just kind of taking it a day at a time, and not really
14:56trying to, trying to rush anything, not really trying to do nothing crazy, so we're just gonna
15:00kind of see what happens.
15:01Yeah, they're trying to move, they're trying to move everything here.
15:03They are, they are.
15:04All the studios.
15:04Everything's moving here, all the rodeos, all the roping, all the, all the movies, everything,
15:09it's, Dallas is, Dallas-Fort Worth, it's kind of the place to be, so we'll see.
15:14So, get you, get you close to, close to here, because that way you go, if you get moved
15:18over here, you just run to Fort Worth, and maybe you just go rope every, exactly, there's
15:21jackpots every, there's five jackpots a week down here.
15:24Oh man, they're, they're everywhere.

15:27Yeah, no way, we'll, we'll see, we'll kind of see what happens, but yeah.

15:37We're just kind of, kind of hanging out, waiting on this, we're gonna go to, hopefully go to
15:41the Riata, um, the Riata event, and Guthrie, we're gonna try to go, go hit that one up,
15:46and probably go to the Cody Johnson roping, and the finale in Vegas, and just kind of see
15:51if we can beat them up.
15:52Are you gonna try to enter the Cody Johnson?
15:53I'm gonna try to, yes sir, I think so, so, I got some good headhorses right now, and
15:56we're gonna try to go a little bit while, while I have some time off, and in between
15:59everything, so, we'll try to go there, and they're in a few places, and just kind of,
16:04kind of see what happens, so.
16:05Yeah, get some roping in before you start filming again.

17:28All right, all right, so, uh, being here, think about this, being here, as long as you've
17:35been here now, you didn't know the film and everything, and from New Mexico, what's the
17:38differences to you in the, uh, in the weather?
17:42The weather.
17:44Where I'm from, it is the desert.

17:46It's super dry, and when it's hot, it's hot, but you're not drowning.

17:51You know what I mean?
17:52Down here, it's just, it's, it's hot, and it's muggy, and usually when it's hot, and
17:57it's 90 degrees, it's about 90% humidity, and you step outside, and your clothes are
18:01soaked, and it's, it's, I don't, I don't mind it, but just, it's a big difference from
18:06where I grew up, because, I mean, we always, everything is dry, and then you come down here,
18:10and it's like, like you're drowning in, in, in air.
18:13Yeah.
18:14It's crazy.
18:14It's weird.
18:15I went to, uh, I went to Tombstone a couple years ago.
18:19I said a couple years ago, it was back in 2020, because it was chronic time, everything
18:22was closed.
18:23Yes, sir.
18:23And we went to, uh, Tombstone, we filmed some stuff there at Tombstone, and, and at the
18:27Birdcage, just some, it was a paranormal group, we were doing some paranormal investigations,
18:31and all that junk over there, but anyway, we went in June, and I was like, man, it's
18:36like 110 degrees over here, but it was different.
18:38Yep.
18:39You walk outside, and you're like, wait a minute, it's hot, but it's, it's hot, but it's not
18:44hot.
18:44I'm like, what is going on here?
18:46Even down here, when it's cold, like at home, when it's cold, it's just cold.
18:49Like, you can put a jacket on, you're fine, but out here, it's wet cold, and so it, it
18:53like, gets on your clothes, and then it's just, yeah, I don't know.
18:56It's a different, different game down here, for sure, but.
19:00Oh, man, so you got, so your rope horses, let's talk about that.
19:02So what, uh, what rope horses are you ripping on?
19:06What, what kind of bloodlines you got?
19:07What do you, what do you ride?
19:08I'm riding, so the yellow horse that I won the Riata on last year, that I'm probably going
19:12to ride again this year, he's a Shiner Sudoku, and Shining Spark is his granddad, so he's
19:18got all them pretty colors on him, he's yellow, but he's got all that dapple, like, almost
19:23like grayish, blackish stuff on him, and he's really cool, he's six years old, turned seven,
19:28um, and I got a half-brother to him that is completely different color, big sorrel blaze
19:34face horse, he's four, so I'm probably going to ride him at that open at the Riata this
19:37year, and that horse is coming along, along really well.
19:41I bought them from Lane Bilodeau, and, and Britt Williams, and them guys, he, he trains for
19:45them out there, and in Arizona, they have a lot of nice horses, and then I got another
19:49sorrow horse that I bought from Sid Cervantes, yeah, that's peso right there, um, but I bought,
19:54uh, another sorrow horse from, uh, Sid Cervantes that I've had for a few years, and I won the
20:00U.S. finals on him last year, and then I think I won the Patriot on him, too, and that
20:04horse
20:04is, he is phenomenal, I've got a really good string of him right now, and if I ever needed
20:08another one, my dad's got, got a, a black horse that is, is really, really good, too, so.
20:14Was it, I know, you rodeo on your horses a lot, but was it a different, difference on the
20:17horses, bringing them, bringing them here from them being in New Mexico, and then coming
20:20here, and.
20:21Not really, they sweat more.
20:23Right, and just kind of, climb out, you don't, you got to warm up as much.
20:26Sweat more, yeah, you don't have to warm up as much, uh, I had, when I brought Peso out
20:30here for the show and everything, he was pretty slicked off, like, he was real pretty, and
20:34he was, it was warm down there where we were at, so, he, uh, it wasn't, it wasn't too bad,
20:38but you can definitely tell, like, the heat plays a difference on him, and we come down
20:41here for the U.S. finals, and, and stuff like that, and we always keep them in them buildings,
20:44but you have to be real careful, like, putting them in those buildings, and then taking them
20:47outside when it's super hot, and it's super cold in those buildings, and they'll kind of
20:50get a little sniffly, sniffly nose, but you just kind of got to watch them, make sure
20:54they're hydrated, and, yeah, so.

21:12The last couple years, they've been, it's been 9-0 for sure, 100-10.
21:16Now, on your, on the roping, roping those, are you carrying a PRCA card?
21:21I'm not, no, sir.
21:23I'm not really planning on pro rodeoing, I don't really have time for it, I don't want
21:28to be out on the road every weekend, I just, I want to go to all the big ones, if
21:32I can
21:32go to the U.S. finals, and the World Series finals, maybe the BFI, and a couple of them
21:39thoughts up while I'm, if I have time, if not, I would, I love what I'm doing, I love
21:43acting, and that's the main, the main priority right now, so that's what we're going to do,
21:48but when I do have time, I just want to go to the big ones, and then you never know
21:51here
21:51in three or four or five years, if I get the wide ace that I want to try to make
21:54the finals
21:55one day, I might try to do it, so.
21:56You never know, or you get, you know, you get stuck, you get moved down here, you get
21:59set up, you can go hit mesquite.
22:00You never know, yeah, you can win a couple of them rodeos that are, that you can, you can win
