00:02Hello! Glad to be back on the channel. Today, we're flying the Dornier.
00:07Karenado's DO 228 on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The DO 228 is one of those aircraft that...
00:15He doesn't seek to be elegant. He seeks to be useful. He has high wings, long wings.
00:21straight lines with two turboprop engines, a silhouette clearly designed for a profession and not for a
00:28brochure. This business is about going to set up shop where the biggest companies simply can't.
00:33For over 40 years, the 228 has connected isolated communities, carried out government missions and
00:39He works in some of the most demanding environments on the planet. He owns two
00:44Garrett TPE331 turboprop engines of 775 horsepower each, driving four-bladed composite propellers.
00:55It has a cruising speed of around 223 knots, with an operational ceiling of 25,000 feet, a distance
01:01It has a range of approximately 1,275,000 nautical miles and an endurance of up to 10 hours. But the real figure,
01:08The key point to remember is that it needs barely 2,600 feet to take off and 1,480 to
01:14to settle down.
01:15That's the whole point of this review. The package Karenado is offering us today consists of
01:20of 14
01:20booklets plus a blank one with 4 different 3D models: passengers, medical evacuation,
01:27Cargo and parachuting. He is career-ready in Flight Simulator 2024 for VIP charter missions.
01:34medical evacuation, freight transport, and parachuting. On the dashboard side, it has a
01:39KFC 250 flight control system, a GNS 530 and compatibility with the GTN 750.
01:47The circuit breakers are functional and it also has a backup extension for the landing gear.
01:54Okay, let's start it and I'll get back to you afterwards with my impressions.
02:17A challenge, let's go!
02:18Yeah !

03:00Here we go.
03:22Here we go.
03:58Just a quick note before we begin, Carinado provided me with this plane to test.
04:03As always, what I'm going to tell you is what I really think.
04:05So, how does it perform in flight?
04:08Let's start with what this aircraft was designed for.
04:10It can be installed, and very easily.
04:12Even on very short, notoriously difficult tracks.
04:15What you see there in the video was my very first landing in Saint-Barthes.
04:19And it went like clockwork.
04:21No drama, no struggle.
04:23His STOL performance isn't just a label.
04:26You can really feel them.
04:27In flight, I'll be honest, it's a bit sluggish.
04:31It has quite a bit of inertia.
04:32It takes its time to stabilize at a speed.
04:35He takes his time bowing.
04:37So, it's not completely surprising.
04:39With its long, high wings that carry a lot of mass at the wingtips.
04:43And what's more, it has less power than the B200 I last flew from Carinado.
04:48But it's something you feel from the very first minute.
04:51The flight model, overall, appears completely consistent.
04:53Disengagement, for example, is healthy.
04:55There are no unpleasant surprises.
04:57Nothing that takes you by surprise.
04:59Engine sounds are less present as well.
05:01Less impressive than on the B200.
05:04That one, he definitely had character.
05:06Whereas the latter is much more discreet, much more unassuming.
05:11Which seems normal given that the engines are less powerful.
05:14Graphically, the cockpit is exactly what we expect from Carinado now.
05:18It's perfect.
05:19Work on the dashboard, switches, glass and instrument bezels.
05:25The way the light falls on the dials.
05:27Everything is really perfect and it holds up even when you get the camera close up.
05:31The wear and tear effects are also extremely convincing.
05:34The edges are scratched, the paint is worn around the switches.
05:37The traces left by decades of hand movements repeating the same gestures.
05:42It looks used and not just modeled.
05:46Outside, it's very good too, with just a minor flaw in the geometry and texture of the lighting.
05:52at the wingtip.
05:53It's clearly not up to standard, but I'm sure it's something that will be fixed quickly.
05:58On the system side, you can check the oil level, which is a nice feature.
06:02But we cannot access the engine compartment.
06:04That's a bit of a shame.
06:06The circuit breakers are all functional.
06:08Everything else works perfectly as far as I've been able to test.
06:12Now, let's talk about the look.
06:13Because yes, I know he is special.
06:15It looks like a kind of mouse with falcon wings grafted onto it.
06:19It's quite bizarre, strange.
06:21But personally, I love it.
06:23There are also 14 booklets.
06:25And I admit that I would have liked to have a few more.
06:28I admit that we become greedy with the amount of time we spend using the simulator.
06:30One last thing, Carinado has been offering us truly high-quality devices at competitive prices for several years now.
06:36reasonable.
06:37Personally, I would like to see them go a little further now.
06:40Why not offer a Carinado tablet, for example, which could be found throughout their fleet?
06:45Much like Azure Poly does.
06:47Tell me what you think in the comments.
06:49So, does he deserve his place on the tarmac?
06:51As usual with Carinado, it's solid stuff.
06:54And between its unique look and its incredible capabilities, the DO228 goes straight into my top list of little gadgets.
07:02airplanes.
07:03And yes, before I leave you, here's a little preview of the 14 booklets.
07:07And thank you for watching.
07:08See you very soon.
