00:01When people hear Sins of the Father on the 24th, what do you think they're going to learn
00:06about you that they probably didn't know before?
00:08Man, you know, we went stylistically back to our first couple records.
00:13You know, how often do you fall in love with an artist or a band because of the first two?
00:17And we've historically said that's because, you know, you have your whole life experience
00:20to write your two albums, but you also don't know the rules.
00:23We took all the rules out of the writing room in the studio and, you know, I went to a
00:28long
00:29chapter of life.
00:30It was a pretty checkered past where I wasn't planning on being anybody's dad or anybody's
00:34husband.
00:34So this chapter is looking back from a life that I didn't think was on my bingo card and
00:42being reminiscent and going, there's three things, looking back and going, man, that was
00:46fun or man, that really, really sucked or man, how the hell did we make it through that?
00:51So yeah, we're proud of it, brother.
00:52Did the title come first and shape the record or did you finish the record and then realize
00:57this is the whole thing that kind of brings it together?
01:00The song, the song in the latter, I would say that, you know, it's really when you hear
01:07that song, I think you'll get it.
01:08Has becoming a dad changed what you write about or has it changed what you're willing
01:12to write about?
01:13Man, you know, I fight that because I don't want that to be the case and I don't want to
01:19lose transparency with them.
01:20That's what I've been doing for 20 years and I don't want to change that.
