00:13au's anything you can think of like it's astonishing 12 years after the prime series
00:17ended now coming up on like five years since the reboot ended that it actually seems like we have
00:21more fans and more people talking about it online than ever before but today we finally have an
00:26actual look at the dynamite comic i'm gonna link an article down below that literally dropped today
00:30where we finally get to see some actual artwork and information about the comic we've been speculating
00:35for a while but now we can lay out some facts we already know the comic was being made by
00:39man of
00:39action the original creator so of course it's in good hands the first issue is even written by joe
00:43casey and we knew the artwork was done by robert carrey which quick google search you can tell
00:46he's a really good artist so nothing too worrisome so far when omniverse first dropped there were
00:50some scares same with the reboot but the comic was a different story nobody ever seemed really
00:54worried about how it was going to come out we just wanted it to come out although now that we're
00:58actually looking at some of the artwork it's a bit hard to grasp where they're going with this
01:01direction we have a few variant covers we can look at as well as actual pages from the comics so
01:05stick
01:05around for those but i'm gonna start with the variant covers the first one i'm looking at is by
01:09another member of man of action duncan rouleau i can tell this is his art style easily it's a bit
01:13hard to grasp how accurate these variant covers are to what the comic is going to look like if y
01:18'all
01:18are familiar with comics and varying covers the art style being different sometimes even the character
01:22designs being different is extremely common often depicting scenes and interactions that will never
01:27even match the main story they're just for artistic flavor but it's still nice to see something
01:31retaining to the comic we can see it's using the exact same logo that the 2016 reboot is using i
01:36don't
01:36know if that's just a placeholder or not or this is just the official logo for ben 10 which is
01:39fine
01:40although some of these designs are a bit unexpected we're looking at accelerate here it's got a very thick
01:44torso some frail arms i'm assuming this is cannon bolt which is odd seeing him in the original 10 lineup
01:49but
01:49also confirms that we're not just going to be getting the standard classic series playlist for
01:53this which was expected but now it's confirmed we got four arms diamond head heat blast he blasts with
01:57the exposed magma i'm actually not bothered by it it's like the inverse of his original series
02:01design where he had rocks covering his arms exposed hands here he's got the exposed arms and rocks
02:06covering his hands like gloves it's actually pretty cool look gray matter looks pretty freaky i can dig
02:10that but you can also see wild vine here too the 2016 reboot did this as well adding cannibalt and
02:14wild vine to the original lineup opposed to the prime continuity where they were additions later after the
02:19original 10. ben looks fine he's got his shirt green shorts and i like the swirly designs but it
02:23doesn't exactly give us a good look at what the omnitrix looks like given that this cover was done
02:26by duncan rouleau i'm assuming this is the most accurate to the comic but let's take a look at some
02:31of the other varying covers first this one is just ben in forearms you can see the omnitrix is kind

02:35this tangled mess of wires and everything it's very interesting very alien looking and it could just be
02:39the coloring but he's got what looks like blue shorts instead of green and they're rolled up we got a
02:43nice
02:43shot of forearms distorted by the shadows and lighting but a very powerful stance we got this cover that's a
02:47very
02:47different art style from the first two and i want to say this gives us a really good look at
02:50what
02:51the omnitrix looks like but again it's a variant cover so the art style and designs could be
02:54different in this cover ben has brown eyes well in duncan's he has green so that's already proof we
02:58can't actually trust this is like what the omnitrix looks like in the comic i think they were just
03:03really trying to do something super alien and i feel like i can get behind it i'm so used to
03:07the
03:07classic one where it looks like very pristine and shaped accordingly like a design that's very memorable
03:11something replicatable if you're trying to do fan art whereas this one it definitely looks like it'd be
03:15difficult to try to draw over and over again in the panels and they could just be doing random wires
03:19each shot not expecting you to really pay attention be like this wire goes here this wire goes here
03:23unless they are in which they definitely can they had a very detailed model sheet we got this look
03:27as well and again really hard to tell like if this is what the aliens are going to look like

03:31at the two accelerates completely different same with gray matter but there are some elements that we
03:36can marry between each other the fact that accelerate isn't all black and heat blast has the exposed arms but
03:41rock covered hands sink flies back to looking like a bug but cannon bolt over here looking incredibly
03:45different than the duncan cover this one looks a little bit more familiar it's got like that rounded
03:49head duncan's kind of had it popping off this guy over here looks like a train i think i'm just
03:53gonna
03:53need a better look at him and yeah some of these are just so detailed i don't know how it
03:56would look
03:57like as a simplified design covers like this add more detail to it to make it look pretty interesting but
04:01sometimes that detail makes it a bit difficult to know what the structure of the design is and then we
04:05got
04:05this cover which is forearms stink fly wild vine upgrade i believe and this watch looks closer to
04:11the classic series one the one we're more familiar with but still keeps up that wire trend so while
04:15all these varying covers are pretty nice it doesn't exactly let us know what this is gonna look like
04:19except for the fact that we actually do have some comic pages we can look at it looks like the
04:24text was
04:24removed to keep the storyline guessing we got some sumo slammer cards here look at gwen's bag and the trio
04:29hanging out ben's stripe looks like it's off center the rust bucket looks fine it looks like the same as
04:33the
04:33original one except maybe it's got an extra floor or something it's taller grandpa max looks a lot
04:37scrawnier he's got the vest that the reboot introduced he's got glasses a mustache and a beard
04:42i'm actually really digging this design for max i'm not getting that soft wholesome type of vibe that
04:46we're used to with grandpa max with this design but maybe the dialogue will really help bring that
04:49out that off-center stripe on ben is gonna mess with me though but ben looks okay gwen looks about
04:53the
04:53same too there's really not too much to say they're going for a lot more realistic and detailed artwork
04:58whereas with all five of the original ben 10 shows it was very cartoon and stylized this one seems
05:02like it wants to be more a traditional american comic book realistic faces realistic proportions
05:07a little bit more gradient and painting in the shading than just straight up cell shading that
05:10actually looks kind of ginger now that i think about it looking at him next to gwen in this panel
05:14which is a neat idea it looks like they get in the fight and ben storms off rather than him
05:17leaving
05:17because he's bored and the last preview pick we get is this big shot of some guy monitoring the sky
05:22so i'm wondering how much they might integrate other people's reactions to the omitrix arriving which when
05:26you think about it actually kind of makes sense something was going to be spaceborne coming down to
05:30earth the government's definitely going to detect that in fact it's kind of baffling that the omitrix
05:33fell from earth in the first place in the original series and nobody really noticed so maybe they're
05:38going to bring in sect more maybe they'll bring in the government a little bit play up the whole
05:41government's have to do with alien conspiracy things i don't know it's just one panel and then
05:44lovingly we get this famous shot of ben looking up at the sky of the omitrix pod crashing down
05:49which has been done in every single series now we get to add another one to the table that's pretty
05:54much
05:54it i mean it's a look it's nice it looks like we're just getting the standard ben finds the
05:58omitrix plot line again for this first issue which is necessary i think the designs are okay i'm not
06:02in love with them but i don't hate them the art style is definitely the highlight of it but the
06:07designs i'm 50 50 on and again the varying covers look very neat but i feel like i still don't
06:11actually
06:11know what any of the aliens are gonna look like but i guess we'll see when the first issue drops
