Rare corpse flowers bloom together in unusual California display
Visitors flocked to The Huntington botanical gardens near Los Angeles on Monda after two titan arums, commonly known as corpse flowers, began blooming simultaneously in a rare display. The endangered titan arum is famous for the pungent odor it emits during bloom to attract pollinators such as carrion beetles and flies. Each bloom, which lasts just 24–48 hours, is one of the rarest and shortest-lived spectacles in the plant world. Native to Sumatra, Indonesia, the plant flowers only once every two to three years, making each event a rare opportunity for the public to witness.
