00:11The undisputed master of the universe, so they called me.
00:17Gods and mortals alike, tremble in my wrath.
00:21I cause rain, I cause drought.
00:24I command tempests, I command storms.
00:28I am a god of many forms, not rapist, not a monster.
00:34I am the wind, the storm in the clouds, the rumble in thunder.
00:39I am the eagle on the mountain, the ramming rod, the snake in the pageant.
00:45I am the bull with crescent morns.
00:48I am the sky god and king of all.
00:51I am Zeus.
01:01Zeus was the youngest child of the Titan, Cronus, and the Titanus, Rhea.
01:07Others being Hestia, Hades, Hera, Poseidon, and Demeter.
01:13Cronus had heard a prophecy that his children would overthrow him.
01:17So he devoured each of his children, as soon as they were born, to prevent the fulfillment of the prophecy.
01:24But Zeus narrowly escaped this fate, when his mother, sought the help of her parents, Gaia, and Uranus, to hide
01:32him away, in a distant cave.
01:35Rhea, then handed Cronus, a huge stone, wrapped in swaddling clothes, which he promptly swallowed, thinking it was baby Zeus.
01:44Zeus was raised in a secret place, on Mount Dicta, in Crete, where he was nursed, by nymphs, on the
01:52milk of the goat, Amulthea, and guarded by the dancing curates, who drowned out the sound of his crying, with
01:58their shield clashing battle dance.
02:01When Zeus came of age, he served his Titan father, Cronus, a concortion, which caused him to disgorge the young
02:09gods, he had swallowed.
02:11Zeus went on, to liberate the giants, the Cyclopes, and the Hecatonchres, from the pit of Tartarus.
02:19Thus, during the war between the Titans, and the gods, and as a form of gratitude, the Cyclopes gifted him,
02:26with lightning bolts, and the Hecatonchres, aided him by hurling boulders, at the Titans.
02:34Zeus and his siblings, eventually defeated Cronus and his allies, and furnished them to a prison, in Tartarus.
02:41After the fall of the Titans, Zeus presided over the heavens, Poseidon presided over the sea, and Hades presided over
02:49the underworld.
02:51Zeus was the lord of storms, tempests, lightning, and thunder.
02:56His most notable symbol, is his magnificent lightning bolt, which he often wields in his hand, like a javelin.
03:04His other symbols, are, a royal scepter, an eagle, and the aegis, which is a majestic goatskin shield.
03:13In art, Zeus, is often depicted, wearing a long robe, or cloak, and crowned with a wreath, of olive leaves.

03:42rivalry, Nike, representing victory, and Baia, representing force.

03:55and order.
03:57Most of his divine family, except Hades, god of the underworld, and Poseidon, the sea god, resided in Olympus.
04:06Zeus' virgin sister, Hestia, also resided in Olympus, where she tended the ever-burning hearth fire, in the center of
04:14his palace.
04:14His cup-bearers, were Ganymede, and the goddess, Hebe, who served ambrosia, and nectar, at the feasts of the gods.
04:24The winged harpies, also known, as the hounds of Zeus, were cruel creatures, used by the sky god, to harass
04:32and terrorize mortals.
04:34While Pegasus, the winged horse, carried Zeus' lightning bolts, and four other immortal horses, drew his chariot through the sky.
04:44Zeus married his sister, Hera, queen of the gods, after seducing her, in the guise of a cuckoo bird.
04:51But their union, was one of constant quarrels, mostly because, of Zeus' infidelity.
