00:00If you were a news junkie 20 years ago, this story was inescapable. Now, more than two decades after
00:06Scott Peterson was convicted of murdering his pregnant wife Lacey, a new documentary is raising
00:10fresh questions about whether he did it. The two-part A&E series, Scott Peterson, The New
00:15Evidence, claims to present never-before-seen footage, new forensic analysis, and previously
00:21undisclosed evidence that supporters say could cast serious doubt on his guilt.
00:25Peterson has maintained his innocence since his 2004 conviction and has been fighting for years
00:30to overturn the guilty verdict, saying time and again that Lacey's killer is still out there.
00:35So what are some of these new claims supporting his cause? Well, the documentary has some defense
00:40footage that it says was never presented to the jury, a test appearing to show a small fishing boat
00:45capsizing when a weighted dummy was thrown overboard, challenging the prosecution's theory that
00:50Peterson dumped Lacey's body into San Francisco Bay from the vessel. The film also features new
00:55experts who dispute the prosecution's title analysis, arguing Lacey's body couldn't have
01:00ended up where it was found if it had been disposed of where Peterson was fishing. So if it wasn't
01:05Scott,
01:06then who killed Lacey? Well, the doc revisits an alternative theory that she may have been abducted
01:10during a burglary across the street from the couple's home, citing witnesses who reported seeing a
01:14pregnant woman being forced into a van. Peterson's case is now being reviewed by the Los Angeles
01:19Innocence Project, which argues that new evidence supports his long-standing claim of innocence.
01:24The documentary premieres July 16th and 17th.
