00:22condemned the subpoenas, calling them an attack on press freedom. From his golf club in Virginia,
00:27Trump fired back, blasting what he called the failing New York Times. He also took personal
00:32aim at reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, who have a new book about his administration.
00:37The president called Haberman maggot and describing Swan as her lightweight assistant. Trump accused
00:43the paper of spending its time writing negative stories about him, saying the media has no
00:47credibility and claiming it would have been impossible for him to win re-election if their
00:51reporting were believed. Stephen J. Adler, chairman of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the
00:56Press, blasted the subpoenas in a statement, saying it crushed the public's right to know about its
01:01government. But the Times wasn't the only group on the receiving end of the president's furious and
01:06lengthy Truth Social post. He took fresh swipes at Democrats, calling them the Democrat Party,
01:11accusing them of moving toward communism. He also tore into multiple TV news outlets using one of his
01:17favorite media insults, calling them fake news.
