00:00OpenAI has finally dropped GPT-5.6, and we now get three different models, Sol, Terra, and Luna.

00:08While Sol outperforms Mythos 5 on coding benchmarks, and matches it on security benchmarks,

00:14using only one-third of the output tokens, what's interesting is how on agent's last exam,

00:19GPT-5.6 Sol sets a new high of 53.6, eclipsing Fable 5's Adaptive Reasoning by 13.1 points.

00:27Even at Medium Reasoning, it beats Fable 5 by 11.4 points at roughly one-quarter the estimated cost.

00:34People who've had early access claim it feels much faster and is far more precise at code edits.

00:40One ex-anthropic employee, Pietro Chirano, even called it the best model he's ever used,

00:45saying he hasn't had to check its code in two months and now prefers it over Fable 5.

00:50You also get two new modes now, Max and Ultra,

00:53which help the model break down and orchestrate complex multi-step agentic work with much less

00:59babysitting, better self-correction, and higher likelihood of planning and executing longer

01:03chains without drifting. Plus, the API costs are almost twice as cheap as Fable,

01:09with Sol being just $5 input and $30 output per million tokens.
