00:00But I do want to say this. I would hope that any parent who, God forbid, would be in our
00:11situation, I would hope that you would do the same thing.
00:15I would hope that you would ask for any help, receive any help to get answers, because at the end
00:26of the day, that's all we want.
00:28We just want to know. We just want to know what happened and why our baby didn't come home.
00:37Like, that's our biggest thing.
00:47Good afternoon, God.
00:50What we've been told does not make sense.
00:54And being that there is lack of confidence in the local authorities, who have already, in my judgment, seemed to
01:06have mishandled where it was going.
01:08Because to just immediately, before a week time, saying there was nothing done wrong,
01:17when we hear that this young man was engaged in some kind of argument that was on tape,
01:25that his cell phone and keys ended up with one of the people that were there on the island and
01:33got away,
01:35he was one black with three young white men, who happened to end up with his phone, happened to end
01:42up with his keys.
01:43Then there's just too many questions that they should not be closing the investigation.
01:56It is because the family has distrust of the Mississippi law enforcement officials,
02:08giving them a fair investigation where their black son ended up dead after going out on a boat with three
02:18young white men.
02:20The history of Mississippi is something that they don't just read about in books,
02:28but it's a lived experience for many black Americans.
02:34New York, they canceled all the flights yesterday, so it took a long time for his body.
02:41We're talking about an 18-year-old kid.
02:45What teenager would leave their phone behind if they're going to stay on this island?
02:53What teenager wouldn't take their phone?
02:56And so it's not adding up.
02:58It's not adding up at all.
03:01The fact, as Reverend Al said, you know, they didn't take his phone with them.
03:10His mother, when she finds out that her baby is missing, they start trying to track the phone.
03:22GPS the phone.
03:23They've used Life 360, and they discover that, well, the phone is on land.
03:29The phone is on land, but you're saying he went missing on the island.
03:36And so it's not adding up.
03:40First of all, I want to say thank you, everyone, for being here.
03:47Nolan was, is, the kindest soul.
03:52He never met a stranger.
03:56He loved everybody.
03:58He didn't care if you were black, white, purple, green, looked like a marshmallow.
04:04Like, he just wanted everyone to be in peace with one another.
04:13He just, he loved life, and God gave him this big heart, which always scared us.
04:22Me and his dad had conversations with him all the time.
04:26Not just about the importance of understanding our history as black people,
04:34but also the importance of how you have to move in certain spaces.
04:39Not just about mum-like talking to you.
04:39But guilt talked about, the one who lost the solutions.
04:40Would you share them?
04:41Okay.
