Extreme meteorologist Dr. Reed Timmer reports from Ishigaki Port, Japan, near high tide as storm surge slams into the shores of Okinawa on the night of July 10 from Typhoon Bavi.

00:00Here you can see the storm surge starting to come in here, invading this pier.
00:04It comes in waves, so you can almost see the period of the swells that are coming over the reef
00:10just offshore.
00:11This is a very interesting structure that has a very compact line with a moat on the inside.
00:17But you can see here the water invading the beach on a green-up area.
00:22But this is just the beginning. We're expecting a five to six-foot surge in these concave areas in the
00:28coastline.
00:29Oh, this is just an outer band of this tropical cyclone.
00:33But you can see the waves coming in here in a concave part of the shoreline.
00:37We are chasing Typhoon Bobby, a very interesting structure with a compact eye and a moat around it.
00:44But we expect winds gusting up to 100 miles an hour.
00:48It's also accelerating, moving at about 20 miles an hour.
00:51We're expecting a black ball in the early morning hours here in Shikaku, Japan.
00:57So those big-time waves are starting to commence and storm surge is up.
01:01And we expect that high-level comes in.
01:03Conditions are going to deteriorate very, very rapidly.
01:06This is just an outer band of Typhoon Bobby coming in here in Shikaku, Japan.
