00:00Conditions you cannot even imagine people being in, let alone children living in.
00:05This is pure evil.
00:0716 children pulled from a feces-filled home looked like feral animals when they were rescued
00:12in a scene that prosecutors say resembled pure evil.
00:15The victims, ages 1 to 18, were taken from the deplorable house hidden in a hallmark Ohio town
00:22where they spent most of the past four years living in squalor.
00:25Largely confined to a cramped 12x12 room that was littered with human waste,
00:31authorities explained as new details emerged in the shocking case.
00:35According to Ohio's Attorney General, investigators were forced to wear masks
00:39when entering the trash-stacked house and couldn't even reach some parts of it.
00:43Grandparents Gary Siders Sr. and Christina Siders were arrested alongside their son,
00:48Gary Siders Jr., and his wife, Elizabeth Siders.
00:51They are now facing a slew of charges after authorities descended on the house
00:56to conduct a search warrant for an unrelated probe
00:59and stumbled on the sickly children, whom the AG said looked almost like feral animals.
01:05The 20 family members lived in the house, which had just five rooms and one bathroom
01:10in the 1,336-square-foot layout, with another 518 square feet in the basement.
01:16The children who were never enrolled in school can barely communicate
01:20and some cannot speak at all, officials said.
01:23The oldest child, who is 18 years of age, is developmentally disabled
01:27and unable to even write her name, according to investigators.
01:31The kids were taken to hospitals across Ohio after the rescue.
01:35It remains unclear exactly who all their parents are.
01:39During a virtual arraignment, one of the defendants, Elizabeth Siders,
01:42could be seen weeping in her prison cell.
01:45Amid health concerns, Gary Siders Sr. has been released from prison
01:49and taken to a local hospital to receive treatment, prosecutors revealed.
01:54The four defendants each pleaded not guilty to 16 counts of child endangerment
01:58on July 1st, when a judge set their bail at $300,000 apiece.
02:04They all waived their preliminary hearings, scheduled for July 14th.
