00:00Malaysian businesses can now enter the China market with zero tariffs, simplified customs and faster capital flows.
00:08Welcome to the Hainan Free Trade Port, China's biggest experiment in economic openness and possibly South East Asia's next big
00:17business opportunity.
00:26Malaysia raw material, especially from agricultural, I think three things very important.
00:32Agriculture like durian and our oil pump and our medical devices, all those things, our pharmaceutical is fantastic.
00:39So we can make use of this one and then go into China, actually it's three packs.
00:46Then you can logically set up a processing factories in the Hainanese Island, which is fantastic, so-called the physical
00:56incentive for us to do so.
00:58Hainan can serve as a regional processing and distributing center for Malaysian palm oil and derivatives,
01:05leveraging tax incentives and refining packaging or green processing before onward shipment to China or other RCEP markets.
01:16This adds value, ensures traceability and support sustainable goods.
01:21This model not only strengthens overall resilience by diversifying risk without fragmented chains.
01:27Malaysia is already ready to deepen collaboration through joint venture, technology sharing and policy alignment
01:36to turn Hainan into practical enabler of secure, efficient RCEP supply chain.
01:42Key opportunities lie in high growth areas such as logistics, digital economy, fintech, modern services and more.
01:50Even in traditional sectors like agriculture, technology is used to improve the productivity and quality.
02:00In aquaculture, digital and biotech solutions are boosting use and also use in disease control.
02:07At the same time in Hainan, you can also see growth in green technologies like offshore wind and hydrogen energy
02:16as well as more advanced sectors such as aerospace in Wenchang,
02:21where full ecosystem is emerging from aerospace component manufactory to niche area like space food production.
02:30So overall, Hainan is not just only about attracting investment but embedding innovation and technology across the entire economic structure.
02:42Yeah, so we contemplated going to Hainan a long time ago.
02:47At that time, Hainan had just opened up and starting to implement and broadcast a lot of its policies to
02:55encourage international businesses to come in.
02:57But we are talking about at that time going back 5 to 10 years.
03:02And it's really taken that long for it to mature to a state that we think that is ready for
03:09us to go in.
03:10In Hainan, they've set up policies as well that allow us to more easily bring the stem cells into Hainan
03:18and to start conducting clinical trials at Hainan first
03:22and also to treat patients on a compassionate basis where these products have already been approved outside of China.
03:30Once the regulators in China have seen the research taking place in Hainan, then they can give us approval based
03:38on those results
03:39and then for us to go into mainland China.
03:42For some, the opportunities are already taking shape in tangible ways.
03:48Basically, the MOU with the Hainan Fuxin Town International Park is an expression of a belief that the future of
03:56the industrial development in this region is not confined by national borders.
04:02By establishing a formal framework for this collaboration, we are creating a structured channel for knowledge exchange, business matching, and
04:15also mutual learning on best practices in industrial park development.
04:20The single most important opportunity from the Hainan free trade court is that it is not a product or service.
04:30To me, it is a new supply chain, architecture, and NIA technology park at Abu Ghoutan.
04:38It's positioned at its upstream ASEAN mode.
04:41And what we believe is the transformative opportunity here.
04:48From去年開始, we just felt that, first, our companies can earn money.
04:54And their消費力 is quite high.
04:56Because the whole会場, the whole会場, it is a country-wide.
05:01So, basically, you can see all the products in every country.
05:05The best products in the world are in the world.
05:07We are not going to land here in the future.
05:11First of all, we are all going to land here in the future.
05:13From the revolution in the future, it is a high rate we're going to be in the future.
05:16From our supply chain, it's a good price.
05:18It makes our products highly comfortable.
05:19I'm not going to land the oil and retail.
05:22It's high grain products and fruits.
05:25We are much more professional.
05:26From the first to the airport, it is also a nice transport line in the country.
05:28So, we carry out one hundred countries.
05:30From the fourth aspect, so we live in the future.
05:31There's a great price.
05:32We live in a good price.
05:32The new people are low so many people.
05:34The new people are low.
05:34The new people are still tall and busy.
05:37But in the market, there is a lot of food in the market.
05:38But the food we buy in Malaysia is with white coffee,
05:42red wine, and cheese.
05:44It's the best for today.
05:46Especially in Hong Kong.
05:48We can't imagine it's too high.
05:52Currently, we have two outlets in Hong Kong.
05:55One in Sanya and another in Haikou.
05:58The first time that we go to Hong Kong is not by a retail.
06:03In fact, we actually participated in a fair called Hainan Consumer Fair.
06:09That's right after the RCEP Free Trade Agreement enforced.
06:13We participated a few times.
06:16And the resonance is very good.
06:18Like, we only have a small booth in the fair.
06:21But you are surrounded by all the auntie's uncles there.
06:24And everyone is asking like,
06:26How much is this? How much is that?
06:27Got new colour or not for this one?
06:29So by that time, we know that this is a great market for us.
06:34This is a blue ocean market for us.
06:36Because they also wear slippers in their daily life.
06:40The Hainan Free Trade Port is set to transform the logistics landscapes,
06:45creating faster and more efficient supply chains
06:48that connect Malaysia and China, as well as the wider ASEAN region.
06:53This could mean new job opportunities,
06:56exposure to advanced supply chain systems,
06:59and a chance to work in a rapidly evolving cross-border trade environment.
07:04MN6 have described Hainan as preferred front-side and processing base for ASEAN manufacturing components,
07:14and also the raw materials entering China.
07:17And at the same time for Chinese manufacturing goods flowing out to ASEAN.
07:23This is a two-directional supply chain role,
07:26which is unprecedented in the region.
07:30The Hainan Free Trade Port is more than a policy experiment.
07:34It is a new bridge linking Malaysia and China.
07:38For Malaysian businesses ready to expand,
07:41the question is no longer if, but how soon they should enter.
07:47In the next episode, we will explore how the Hainan Free Trade Port
07:51is unlocking new opportunities for Malaysia's agricultural industry.
08:06in the next episode of the Hainan Free Trade Port
