00:00With a collective reach of over 123 million people, three regional media powerhouses have
00:10joined forces to form the Asia ESG Positive Impact Consortium, A-EPIC, the first of its
00:16kind in Asia.
00:18Malaysia's Star Media Group, or SMG, Indonesia's media group of Kompas Gramedia or KG Media,
00:24and the Philippines' Inquirer Group of Companies, are on a mission to promote progressive environmental,
00:29socio-economic and governance commitments for future prosperity across the region.
00:38At the launch of A-EPIC in Kuala Lumpur on Friday with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar
00:42Ibrahim as the guest of honour, SMG Chief Executive Officer Chan Seng Fat said the three
00:47media partners stand together in the collective pursuit of sustainability and positive impact.
00:57As a key media organisation, we have embraced this reality, understanding that media play
01:03a crucial role in driving awareness and action.
01:07Taking heel of this call, we began re-evaluating our operation to align with our country goals
01:15of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
01:20We have expanded our coverage to include critical topics such as climate change, the
01:27United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and ESG principles.
01:32By doing so, we aim to educate the public, inspire actions and contribute to the global
01:39discourse on sustainability.
01:42Our commitment to this cause has never wavered.
01:45In his keynote address, the Premier said the collaborative event between media powerhouses
01:50is a great way to bridge the gap between the global south and the richer countries.
01:55Climate change happens to be one of the core issues that we have to grapple with.
02:02And I don't think we are in the position to wait because waiting means at our own expense
02:09and our peril.
02:11This collaboration between Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, to me is quite a remarkable
02:17achievement including the media collaboration, means that we will not use this seemingly
02:29insurmountable differences between the global south and the richer countries.
02:35It should not deter us from coming forth with bold measures to save our planet and
02:45our region and also our countries.

02:53Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, KG Media CEO Andy Budiman, Philippine Daily Inquirer President and CEO
