00:00look of them we've got a beautiful beautiful grid and as you can see they're all formed up now very
00:05quickly zach any predictions we're gonna have a race and well there's going to be some drama at
00:10turn one there absolutely may be let's get this underway then the second race of the weekend the
00:15sprint race here at imola is underway it looks like a bit of a poor start from kota and the
00:20driver not getting away oh goodness me that was tarvin achikil sorry tan bang achikil and he has
00:26been smacked into by a number of machines that have come from further back down the order that
00:31will surely be a red flag and they will not get far before that flag gets called for great start
00:36at the
00:37front from husenroda kota did hold on to second place but ultimately the race has been red flagged
00:43and it was tan vanichikil i'd really got his name wrong there trying to call it out quickly
00:47looks like feldman bostandiev and panetta haven't gotten moving either from where they were on the
00:53grid so we'll obviously confirm who else was involved in that one but quite a big impact there
00:58from the back of the red bull junior machine and that is a big big shame to see hopefully everyone
01:05okay we will obviously bring news when we can but yeah not the way we wanted to get this sprint
01:10race
01:10underway there zach i think uh everyone was a little bit too excited for this shorter race to get going
01:17yeah exactly that um i mean ultimately you know you've got 30 cars all barreling towards
01:21tamborello they all want to get the best start possible and as a driver you know you're nervous
01:26standing starts are not easy at all you've got um a lot of horsepower to manage you've got clutch
01:31lip and everything to manage and then also the nerves and well just look at the aftermath of it
01:35as well having to climb out of the car as a result big shout out by the way to all
01:38of the marshals
01:39and the medical crews and everyone uh down on circuit there at imola to be on scene and be there
01:44as
01:44soon as possible to make sure everything gets done as safely as possible a shot from the rear end of
01:49the pack who was it that got away slowly at the front was it was it time for nichka i
01:53think it
01:53potentially was that stalled on the grid and then a very innocent bystander i think of panetta that
01:57just tried to go to the left and then got caught up in all of it all i mean it's
02:00easily done and
02:01well there we go that's well i said there was going to be drama at turn one didn't i we
02:05didn't even get
02:05that far i think it might have been feldman that uh that collected him initially and then the 23 of
02:11bostandiev was the car that somehow got turned and then yeah another car ended up on top of them
02:16which was panetta that's nuts absolutely nuts we're going to go to alex who's in the pit lane alex we
02:21can see a car on our screen with a bit more damage and everybody coming back around but
02:24yeah pretty scary scene there but it looks like everyone's okay
02:29yep that's exactly what i wanted to report here i just had both tarman iskul and panetta just walk
02:34by me after they get got off their cars which were probably the ones that looked a little bit
02:39scarier from even our position which we could see uh straight from from our position uh but as i said
02:44luckily they're both out of the car they're now uh exchanging a little bit of opinions on on how
02:49that start was but uh most importantly they're just fine so good news good good stuff thank you very
02:55much alex really appreciate that it's always good to know that everyone is all right but again just
02:59highlights the the safety of these race cars doesn't it and we could see from that initial
03:03angle there is feldman's car look at the way the nose is bent in but it's done its job the
03:07crash
03:08structure and the structural rigidity of the car still seemed fine it's just obviously the bodywork
03:13and everything broken off but yeah feldman sort of hit from the the left front to right rear
03:18and it did look like actually feldman was probably keeping an eye on cars either side of him that's
03:24often what you do at starts like that isn't it zach everyone moving around so much you don't expect
03:28there to be a car stationary right in front of you no not at all and you know it's you
03:34kind of do have
03:34to be prepared for it but you also can't let it consume your mind at a race start right you
03:39can't
03:39yeah you know uh compromise that probably one of the most important phases of the race where they
03:45what if someone stalled because you're not in control of that all you're in control of is okay
03:49get my clutch bike point get the revs drop it make up some places down and towards turn number one
03:53ultimately yes fair enough you maybe are in control of reacting to those incidents but you've got
03:59probably less than two tenths of a second to make a decision you then maybe make the right decision or
04:04the the wrong decision if you make the right decision and swerve out of the way you then risk going
04:08into
04:08someone else or going off the road and compromising your own run and there are so many different
04:12variables that obviously mean that if you get through fair enough you might as well call yourself
04:16lightning mcqueen if you don't there's not really much blame that you can attribute to yourself because
04:20it is just one of those things that happen you're going at it with such speed and such adrenaline
04:24and also for time for nichka as well he's just sat there as a passenger hoping that no one hits
04:28him
04:29and ultimately that was the case yeah it's interesting when you see feldman actually it just looks like he
04:34turns left and goes straight into him it's almost like he just goes in a straight line you can see
04:38the orange car just in the middle of the shot and bang that's it the two high-tech cars get
04:43collected
04:44tan van ichkel goes over to the left-hand side and panetta tries to get out of the way and
04:48then as the
04:48two cars just clip wheels that's what puts panetta's car on top at very slow speed it looked a lot
04:54more
04:54dramatic than i think it was there alex but like we say luckily everybody okay and it's just a case
04:59of
05:00uh well luckily now just clean up i guess
05:05a bit of a of a broken a few parts of broken uh carbon fiber and that's uh that's the
05:11big damage
05:12let's say uh and i want to say and i know that zach is not going to like this uh
05:16but you did say
05:17we're going to have a race and there's going to be some carnage in turn one well we didn't even
05:21make
05:22it to turn one mate hopefully there's no carnage in turn one when we restart though
05:28well yeah we often say in motorsport that safety cars breed safety cars but i'm not quite sure
05:33about red flags i think we'll be okay but you know i think it's it's you know worth it to
05:38echo
05:38the sentiment of everyone was just excited nervous to get away these things happen it's just i think
05:44we were unfortunate in this circumstance alex that it was a car near the front for the grid that stole
05:52and one of the guys that i was looking forward to seeing the most in in this race because when
05:56enzo tarpanescu is near the front he's always exciting to watch i'm hearing some of the engines
06:02uh roaring into life but i'm not sure that we're having yet a restart time i think it's mostly a
06:09case
06:09of checking that everything's fine uh i will keep of course uh you informed if i get any information
06:14regarding the restart uh but in any case what i can tell you and and i did have the chance
06:19to talk
06:20about this especially during the spanish with the championship is that the the clutch system on this
06:25car is let's say tricky to master uh so this is something that drivers have been contending with
06:30perhaps not as as tricky as the famously difficult gp2 clutch from back a few years ago uh but it
06:38is tricky
06:38nonetheless and this is why we have also seen sometimes keanu lazari struggling with some of
06:42the starts because he's trying to get that little bit of an edge trying to be uh the the quickest
06:48guy
06:48on track the the one who gets the lightning start but if you try too close if you fly too
06:53close to the
06:54sun and this is very apt today you get burnt and this is probably i think what happened with uh
06:59enzo
07:00yeah i think with a lot of things in motorsport and i'm sure zach will echo this sentiment as well
07:05that
07:06very often being on the limit is what you want you want to be just one percent off it but
07:10as soon as
07:10you're one percent over it that's just that's when things go wrong isn't it yeah on a hot day like
07:15today as well i mean it's it it's one of those things where people are probably probably quite hot in
07:20in the car
07:21you
