00:07and we're thrilled to have your help.
00:09We're kicking things off right here in Southern Africa.
00:13Let's get started!
00:20This is our latest lion habitat.
00:23Our new lioness, Zuri, has just moved in with Tau, our bachelor,
00:27and we're hoping she might find more than just a home here,
00:31perhaps a family?
00:33Lions breed all year round,
00:35unlike some of our animals that are seasonal,
00:38like our African penguins and saltwater crocodiles.
00:42You know, most animals have an incredibly complex emotional life.
00:47They can feel anger, fear, and joy.
00:51Our Zuri doesn't look too happy right now,
00:54but once we fix up her habitat and address her welfare needs,
00:58you'll see just how comfortable she is here.
01:01The longer we spend with our animals researching them,
01:05the more we understand what they need to thrive,
01:08which is obviously great for them,
01:10but also for our zoo's reputation and donations,
01:14allowing us to keep rehabilitating, breeding,
01:17and reintroducing animals to the wild.
01:20Speaking of the wild,
01:22there's a group of zebra we recently released
01:24to our Great Rift Valley Wildlife Reserve.
01:27Did you know a herd of zebra is called a dazzle?
01:31Looks like our dazzles made some friends.
01:34They're probably used to cohabitating back at the zoo.
01:38Right, we should head back.
01:40There's still a lot to see.
01:42Now, here's a noisy bunch.
01:44Our western chimpanzees.
01:47They can be so expressive.
01:50Their facial muscles are almost identical to humans.
01:54Although, unlike us,
01:56they tend to travel on all fours,
01:58walking on their knuckles.
02:01We may even see them brachiate,
02:03hand over hand swinging on our climbing frames.
02:08It's getting late, but we're not done yet.
02:10I've just had news from our lion habitat.
02:13Let's head back.
02:16Zuri is pregnant.
02:17We've got a little while to wait
02:19until we hear the pitter-patter of tiny paws,
02:22but this is brilliant news.
02:25Caring for the welfare of animals in zoos
02:28and breeding them for the wild is so important.
