00:00The U.S. has launched a fresh wave of airstrikes across southern Iran, which it said were in
00:05response to Tehran attacking on three ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
00:08U.S. Central Command said the strikes hit 80 targets, including Iranian command and
00:13control networks, coastal radar stations and anti-ship missile capabilities, as well as
00:1860 small boats belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
00:22The strikes triggered an immediate response in the region, with missile-alert sirens sounding
00:27across Bahrain, which is home to the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet.
00:31In Kuwait, the country's army said air defenses had actively engaged hostile drones.
00:36Meanwhile, the fragile truce that was agreed between the U.S. and Iran last month was further
00:41damaged, as Washington officially revoked a specific license that had authorized Iran to
00:46openly sell crude oil on the international market for U.S. dollars.
00:50Tehran confirmed it had carried out strikes on Bahrain in retaliation and accused Washington
00:55of violating the deal to end the war.
00:57The attack took place while U.S. President Donald Trump was in Turkey for a summit of the NATO
01:02military alliance.
01:03Speaking at the summit, NATO Chief Mark Rutte described the strikes as absolutely necessary.
