The family of a suburban footballer injured over the weekend have been gathering by his hospital bedside to say final farewells. Nathan Fitzgerlad suffered critical head injuries after hitting a hard cricket pitch during a footy match in Melbourne. He continues to receive end of life care while there are fresh calls to look at the safety of sporting ovals around the country.
