00:13The ring includes 321 diamonds, 56 sapphires, 13 emeralds, and 6 rubies.
00:20It was given to U.S. Ambassador to Belgium Bill White to present to Trump,
00:25though a White House official said it had not yet been presented to the president.
00:28The gift comes months after Belgium's diamond industry won the removal of U.S. tariffs on diamond imports.
00:34A WDC said it helped provide input to the European Commission during tariff negotiations,
00:39but did not lobby the administration.
00:42U.S. presidents have broad discretion to accept gifts from domestic and foreign sources
00:46and decide whether a gift is personal or belongs to the nation.
00:50Gifts from foreign governments are generally barred without congressional approval,
00:54unless the president reimburses the treasury for the full value.
00:58Independent jewelers estimated the ring's value at $25,000 to $35,000.
