00:00Erica Kirk is set to face gruesome evidence from her husband Charlie Kirk's murder this
00:05week as she faces down accused assassin Tyler Robinson in court.
00:09The five day proceedings are expected to include horrifying images of Kirk's death in a critical
00:15evidence hearing during which prosecutors hope to prove Robinson fired the fatal shot
00:20in Kirk's death.
00:22Under Utah law a preliminary hearing is where prosecutors present their evidence against
00:26the defendant so the judge can decide if there is probable cause for the case to go to trial.
00:31The process is used in Utah as an alternative to a grand jury indictment.
00:36Graphic videos of the public assassination are expected to be shown to Judge Tony Graff as
00:41well as autopsy evidence at the hearing which begins on July 6th.
00:46Lawyers on both sides have agreed to give warnings to Kirk's loved ones so they can decide whether
00:51to leave the courtroom during those disturbing portions of the proceeding.
00:54Robinson is accused of shooting the conservative activists from long range while he was speaking
01:00in front of a crowd of thousands at Utah Valley University on September 10th.
01:06Messages between the 23 year old gunman and his transgender romantic partner Lance Twiggs
01:11are expected to be presented at the hearing.
01:14According to prosecutors the messages include a confession by Robinson.
01:19Also included in the evidence is likely to be a recorded interview that Twiggs underwent.
01:23The 22 year old former roommate of Robinson's sat down with prosecutors on April 20th
01:29to discuss the accused shooter.
01:32Twiggs who was spotted laying low with family in Texas earlier this year was given limited
01:37immunity for that interview.
01:39In the preliminary hearing the judge only needs to determine there is probable cause to send
01:43Robinson to trial for which a date has not been set.
01:47Robinson has yet to enter a plea in the case and could face the death penalty if convicted.
