00:00In chapter 41 of KWA, you have mentioned desires and attachments are not bad, but the objects chosen for that.
00:07It means individuals must choose an object that helps in elevation and in liberation.
00:13But what if an individual is attached with animals like pet animals, cats, dogs, how can an animal help in
00:21liberating an individual?
00:23See, you cannot say I have already chosen an animal, now I want to use it to be liberated.
00:30That's like inverting the entire logic.
00:33Liberation comes first. Love for liberation comes first.
00:37In the pursuit of liberation, yes, if an animal comes your way, that's fine.
00:43You found a wounded pigeon and you bring it home and you take care of it and after a point
00:49you let it fly away.
00:51That's fine.
00:52Liberation comes first, not the pigeon.
00:54And only when you are liberated of your little self-concerns, then there can be compassion towards any being, including
01:06animals.
01:06But if attachment towards animals comes first, then attachment and violence are two sides of the same coin.
01:15You must remember that.
01:17What we call as attachment is just the side we prefer to look at.
01:22The other side is the violent underbelly.
01:25We choose not to look at it.
01:28Attachment is never a pretty thing.
01:32Never.
01:33And it's as far from love as possible.
01:37Love and liberation go together, not attachment and liberation.
