00:02Earlier this year it was announced by Godolphin Flying Start that Christopher Farrell would be
00:06joining their team as operations and communications executive. Farrell is no stranger to the Godolphin
00:12Flying Start seeing as he graduated from the program himself in 2018. He now shares his
00:18excitement with the TDN as he settles into his role on the other side of the fence.
00:23The Godolphin Flying Start it's a two-year program it takes 12 trainees from around the
00:28world so it's a scholarship program as well and it's it's a management and
00:32leadership scholarship so you travel over five countries over the two years so you
00:37go to Ireland, England, America, Australia and Dubai and it's accredited by University
00:42College Dublin Michael Smurfett Business School and it's a fantastic scholarship
00:48program over these two years you get to meet some fantastic people industry
00:51leaders really and it just exposes you to so many different areas around the world
00:56within the thoroughbred industry and I guess the aim is to be a future leader
01:00within the thoroughbred industry there and but yeah it's a fantastic course and
01:03would highly recommend people to apply for it. 2016-2018 was my course and yeah I
01:10absolutely loved it had a great time you know I'd never really been to those
01:13places before in in that setting or environment and I traveled maybe over
01:17holidays or for short stays but you know getting to Lexington and Kentucky and
01:21getting immersed in that industry there was incredible and the people that you meet
01:25like that's probably one of the biggest selling points that program is that
01:29you're now part of that alumni once you graduate it's very strange coming back
01:33here and being on the other side of the fence it's it's really enjoyable and back
01:37on the program and to try and give back I guess as well and to help the
01:41trainees you know as well because I've been in their position and any
01:44struggles that they might have and or you know opportunities that present
01:48themselves it's it's great to to be able to help where I can day to day like it
01:52it does vary depends on the time of year so we've just announced our next cohort
01:56of trainees and so we'll be you know looking to get them settled in now come
02:01August 17th and then it starts all over again in the first years we'll move into
02:05second year to go to Australia and yeah the next cohort will start August 17th and
02:11then recruitment starts all over again trying to get our next batch in but it's
02:15really enjoyable and definitely been able to help the trainees you know and
02:19really encourage them to see where their passion lies within the industry and you
02:23know once you see that light bulb moment and they're like oh yeah this this is
02:26where I want to be it's it's pretty cool feeling next cohort of trainees coming in
02:30they'll start August 17th but it's actually going to be the 24th intake of
02:34Goodolphin Flying Start which when you think about it it's incredible like the
02:38once these second year trainees graduate that'll be 260 graduates but that's not
02:43including the 24 trainees in first and second year so it's a huge number you know
02:47of people involved with Goodolphin Flying Start and we are very thankful to His
02:51Highness Sheikh Mohammed for providing this opportunity for our future industry
02:54leaders without him wouldn't be possible
