00:00My own mother was pressurised into giving up a baby for adoption, and this was handled by the church.
00:08I only found out after her death, she carried her secret to her grave.
00:15When I found out, I tried to find my sibling, but drew a blank.
00:21I had to pay privately to find him, and we've now been united.
00:27Can the Prime Minister assure those affected that the new systems and resources will be given the funding they need
00:37to reunite families?
00:42Can I thank her for sharing that personal story?
00:46We can all see just how difficult that must have been.
00:50She's shown huge courage in saying that in the Chamber today.
00:57And the way she described her mother taking the script to her grave is very powerful,
01:06and an example of the way in which some people simply feel they can't talk about this and didn't talk
01:12about this.
01:14And where they've passed, we'll never now be able to talk about this.
01:18So she shows great courage in speaking on her mother's behalf as well.
01:24I'm glad that there has been that reuniting, but it can't be the painful journey that she's just described.
01:30We have to do better than that, and we will.
