00:00What's the biggest thing?
00:02Pabukol.
00:03Pabukol?
00:03You're a big man, right?
00:05Yeah.
00:06Well, yeah.
00:07A lot of people will doubt you.
00:08In a way, showbiz is fake.
00:15Hi, Nico. Welcome to Real Talk.
00:19Hello.
00:20How are you from?
00:21First of all, why are you crazy?
00:23Why are you crazy?
00:24Because I'm crazy. No joke.
00:27When I was younger, my mom used to call me Loco.
00:31Because in Italian, it's, I mean, Spanish, Italian, Filipino, it has a similar meaning.
00:36It's kind of crazy, rambunctious.
00:39So, when I was a kid, I was throwing a lot of things.
00:45For example, I would go into the kitchen and get plates and just start throwing them and breaking things.
00:51So, I was like a destroyer when I was a kid.
00:53So, my mom would call me Loco.
00:54My real name is, you know, Fowler.
00:56So, I was thinking of a screen name.
00:58I thought that,
00:59Para may sentimental value yung screen name ko.
01:02I thought Loco would be a nice, you know.
01:04A nice last name.
01:05A nice last name.
01:05Loco nga yung next question,
01:06Kaanong-anong si Tony Fowler?
01:09Wala.
01:09Wala.
01:10Wala relation.
01:11Pero ano.
01:12Akali niya na before na related ako sa kanya.
01:16So, kasi, not to go on a side story, pero marami siyang siblings that she hasn't met before.
01:22So, before me message niya ako, thinking na baka related ako sa Anya.
01:27Kasi, I think she has 15 to 20 siblings.
01:30Yeah, that she hasn't met.
01:32Pero walang relation.
01:33Okay.
01:34Oh, 2019, sumali ka sa My Foreign Way.
01:39Yes.
01:39Sumikat ka, di ba?
01:40Kasi, ang galing mo daw mag Tagalog.
01:42Paano mo natutunan yun?
01:43Well, before, I knew words.
01:46Like, Barok Tagalog.
01:48Very broken.
01:50Panami ba na na-naods tayo?
01:51Yes.
01:52On the last, well, kanina, wala kanina, but on Wednesday.
01:56Panami na-naods.
01:58So, I got lots of support and lots of excitement for today.
02:01So, nung sumali ako sa You're My Foreign Way, actually, hindi ako masyadong fluent sa Tagalog ng time na yan.
02:07Pero, I knew mga funny phrases like,
02:12Mabayat ako, pero medyo pastos.
02:13Yung mga gano'n.
02:15Naginoa ako.
02:15Naginoa ako, pero medyo pastos.
02:17Joke lang.
02:19So, nagulat sila na alam po yung mga phrases na yan.
02:23And, uh, yeah, yung mga, ano, Becky terms, mga gano'n.
02:27So, I think on that episode, sanabing yung mga terms na yan, and they liked it.
02:32It was more of just, I think, the personality.
02:34And then I also sang a Filipino song for the talent, A1 by Apple Hiking Society.
02:40Mahang gitarr, mahang gitarr, gito o lang.
02:46May kong yung damit, maglal iwan.
02:51Doon ba nagsimula ang karir mo, or, nagmoomodel-model ka ka na before, bago yung 2019.
02:58Tapos paano ko na pasok talaga sa showbiz sa main.
03:00And yeah, I started as a model here in Pinas, as most foreign looking guys do, right?
03:08But of course, I went to a drum and theater arts for school, so acting was something that I invested
03:15in as a degree.
03:17So I really wanted to be an actor.
03:18But of course, it's hard because the language barrier, that time that I didn't speak English.
03:25So it's hard. And everybody that I would say, I'd talk to, that I'd say that I'd like to be
03:32an actor, I'd like to go to the show, and they'd say that it's hard because you're a foreign looking
03:37guy, and you don't speak Tagalog.
03:42So, that time that time, I didn't know anything about it, but a very good friend of mine, Ken Chan,
03:50we were doing Bench Under the Stars in MOA.
03:54So, 2018, Bench Under the Stars, and Ken was the artist, and I was behind him.
04:03Then, I'm not sure how we got to talking about it, but we talked about that time that time that
04:08was about showbiz, and how I wanted to get into showbiz, and he was very supportive of that.
04:13But he said, you have to learn Tagalog, and you have to believe in yourself, because a lot of people
04:21will doubt you.
04:22So, because of his motivation, that really helped me along the way. And throughout the years, he's always been supportive
04:29for me.
04:30So, you're also worried about hosting. Why didn't it continue to continue?
04:34I always wanted to be a host. And the funny part is, because it's hard to get into hosting, to
04:42be honest.
04:43Because, of course, when a client gets you, they ask for a portfolio, or a hosting reel.
04:50When you're starting, you don't have any videos of you hosting, because you don't have any experience, right?
04:55So, I remember the first, maybe eight gigs, or I forget the exact number, but they were all debuts for
05:04birthday parties.
05:07So, I would host them for free.
05:10I told them, I will host your event for free, but I want to host and get the exposure.
05:19So, I would bring, I would hire a videographer to come with me, to video me, hosting, because I really
05:26believed that I could be a good host.
05:29So, I got all the materials of me hosting, for my debut, and then that's what I would give to
05:36my clients.
05:36So, eventually, I started charging.
05:38So, you're getting paid?
05:39Yes.
05:40I'm getting paid for transports of food.
05:43Yes. But, after that, you're getting paid for it.
05:46Yes, so much.
05:46I'm getting paid for it.
05:47I'm getting paid for it.
05:48Yes, so much.
05:50You're getting paid for it, right?
05:51Yes.
05:52Well, yes.
05:53Yes, no?
05:54Do you know what a show is?
05:56How much is that?
05:57It really depends on the event and how many hours.
06:03It really depends.
06:04I don't want to say the price, because it's a big range.
06:07But, it's six figures.
06:09It gets up there.
06:10It depends on the company and the venue.
06:15So,
06:16What would you like to say, hosting or acting?
06:20What would you like to see if you don't have a hard job?
06:23I think it would be hard to say.
06:28That's where I make more money at, because I'm working abroad for acting, right?
06:33Hmm.
06:33And, of course, I'd like to pay more money at international.
06:37I like them both.
06:39I think, because if I was just doing acting, maybe I'm going to bore my acting.
06:44So, I like mixing it up.
06:46And, I'm DJing now, also.
06:48So, it's like...
06:48Ah, that's why you're using it.
06:50Yeah.
06:51So, I'm DJing for fiestas in the province, for music festivals in the province.
06:56So, I think the mix of the three fulfills me as an artist.
07:00I feel like, okay.
07:01Okay.
07:01Your face, your profile, your vertical profile, you know what you're using now?
07:08Yes, yes.
07:08The short drama.
07:09Oh, short drama.
07:10You know what you're doing now?
07:11The short drama.
07:11The short drama.
07:12Have you ever done this project now?
07:16A lot.
07:16A lot.
07:17Over 10, I think 11 or 12 short dramas now.
07:22I've shot in all over, all over the world, actually.
07:26Vietnam, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, and also in Los Angeles.
07:35He's a big fan now.
07:36I think because of TikTok and Gen Z.
07:40And the fact that it's very, you know, it's a different style of acting, right?
07:45Compared to the film.
07:46It's very expressive.
07:48It's like a telenovel.
07:49Yeah.
07:50So my ongoing kang project na yun, na ganyan?
07:52Better naman, better naman, yeah.
07:53Saan sa ipapalabas?
07:54Mapanood ba ito sa...
07:56Yeah, actually, well, naroon ako ng Filipino audience for that.
07:59Like, they follow and watch me just for the microdramas.
08:04So usually, lumalabas sa real shorts, short max, yung mga dreamy shorts, yung mga popular short drama platforms.
08:14Iko, ano pang gusto mo mangyari sa career mo?
08:19Marami, marami, grabe.
08:20I think two things.
08:23I'd love to have a lead role sa isang theatrical film.
08:30I think a rom-com.
08:32Yeah, a rom-com lead role.
08:34Yeah, leading man, a nice, a nice, wholesome story about a Filipino meeting a foreigner in the Philippines.
08:41Kasi it's a very relatable thing, yung mga fan dito na falling in love with the Filipina.
08:45So I think I want to bring a nice light to that story.
08:49I'd also love, ano, either a main role or a lead role sa isang teliserye.
