00:00Lion hunts a deer. There is violence through the food chain. So why is it different when a human being
00:06participates in violence?
00:08Biologically, a lion is incapable of making a choice in favor of eating grass. The lion, by its physical, biological
00:16composition, is not equipped to make a choice.
00:19They behave in very, very programmed and conditioned ways. They do what their body tells them to do. They are
00:25pretty innocent beings in that sense.
00:27In the absence of choice, the word violence is absurd. Violence is only when I had a choice and I
00:33made the wrong one.
00:34So human beings can be violent. A lion can neither be violent nor non-violent. Man is the only one
00:40who has choice and the man is only one who is equipped to make choices.
00:44And therefore man is the only one who greatly suffers if he does not make the right choice. Non-violence
00:49is when you resolve to yourself, I'll make the right choice.
00:53That's non-violence or ahinsa. Non-violence is the only way to lead the right life. Or the right life
01:01is called a non-violent life.
