00:00Now it's to sit down with Penelope Cruz, Olivia Wilde, and Seth Rogen.
00:04Hi, everyone.
00:05The invite is why we go to the movies.
00:08We feel the tension build and build.
00:10And then a joke comes along and makes everyone in the room laugh together.
00:13What did it feel like for all of you on the other side while you were making it?
00:17Very similar.
00:18Very similar.
00:19There was tension, but then we would laugh.
00:20We shot in order.
00:22So we had the experience of kind of going through the journey of the...
00:28I already used journey.
00:30Journey.
00:31I hate when actors use it.
00:32Talk about the journey more.
00:33Let's talk about the journey.
00:35That we were along this experience, you know, with the characters in a very organic way.
00:43So we were experiencing all these things and feeling the tension and the release and the emotion in a way
00:51that...
00:51And the journey.
00:53In a way that I have never experienced because I've never shot anything in order.
00:56I think none of us had ever shot anything in order, right?
00:58A couple of times.
01:00It's so difficult.
01:02Never a whole movie.
01:03This is based on the Spanish film The People Upstairs by Seska Guy.
01:07They're also Italian, French, Swiss, and South Korean versions.
01:11What do you think it is about this story that transcends countries and cultures?
01:15Relationships are hard.
01:16It's impossible to...
01:19It's not impossible.
01:23But it feels impossible, I think, at times to sustain a relationship with one person for a very long time
01:28if you, you know, don't have these difficult conversations that the movie is really about.
01:33What is going on here?
01:35I feel like I'm still learning, you know, and I am with somebody that I know for 33 years.
01:41So I really know that person.
01:43But it's like, is there a day where you really get to know yourself?
01:47No.
01:47So the same with your partner.
01:49We feel a very strong connection with you guys.
01:53Seth, I loved Joe's reference to chaos as the biggest sign of creativity.
01:57Is that true for you in real life?
01:59I mean, no, I actually try to keep a very tidy, I think better in a clean environment.
02:04When I was younger, I had a pretty disastrous space, but I actually, I think much better in a clean
02:10environment.
02:11Whereas my wife, who is also a creative person, would, I feel like, live in like abject squalor if it
02:18wasn't for someone kind of picking up after her.
02:21We kind of switched when we first started dating.
02:23I was really messy and she was really clean.
02:25And then, I don't know, over 20 something years, everything changes.
02:31Pina is the woman Angela wants to be.
02:33It's her vision board for life in so many ways.
02:36What is one thing on each of your vision boards this summer?
02:38I'm going to be working all summer, but I'm very happy about it.
02:42Because I'm going to be here working with Nancy Meyers.
02:46And that has always been a dream for me.
02:48I can imagine there's a good kitchen.
02:50She doesn't like when you ask her about the kitchen.
02:53Really?
02:53That would have been my opening line.
02:56Oh, she's like, I'm more than a kitchen maker.
02:59I don't believe she took me to see two of the houses that they built.
03:04Incredible.
03:04Oh, I would have.
03:05Incredible.
03:05The chemistry between you three and Ed Norton, can't forget him, steals the show.
03:11It's your first time all working together.
03:12Who was the biggest surprise on set and why?
03:15Well, I just didn't know Penelope at all.
03:17So it was, I wouldn't say everything was a surprise.
03:19Every day was a surprise.
03:21Because I had no expect, I truly didn't know what she would be like.
03:25I felt like, again, sort of fit right into creating a comedy team, sort of, which was so fun.
03:32But yeah, it was a lovely surprise at how much fun it was to work with Penelope.
03:37Because I thought she was going to be terrible.
03:40She's so pretty.
03:42Penelope came up with one of my favorite pieces of the film, which is involving Sade.
03:47What kind of music are you into, Hawk?
03:49What is Sade?
03:51What is Sade?
03:51She loves that.
03:52To have her actually singing Sade.
03:54Singing to him.
03:56To Seth, at that point, did not check to see how expensive Sade was.
04:00No, no, you just said yes.
04:01She's very expensive and she should be.
04:03This is no ordinary love.
04:08Out of the four of you, who would throw the best dinner party IRL?
04:12I think none of us are like, come on, I'm throwing a dinner party.
04:16Yeah.
04:16I think, no?
04:18I guess by default, me, because these people don't have dinner parties at all.
04:24It's just Edward.
04:26Edward's not having dinner parties.
04:27Are you kidding me?
04:28Are you kidding me?
04:29I went to a dinner party.
04:33It was great, but we had a lunch party there before the kids.
04:36That's true.
04:37And you were not there.
04:38No, I wasn't invited.
04:40Okay, you were already invited.
