00:00What did Philadelphia get in Mike Gansey?
00:02He's just great.
00:03I think he's great in terms of how he works with agents
00:07and builds those kinds of relationships.
00:10I think he has a really good eye for talent
00:13and kind of unearthing people.
00:15If you think about this Cavs team,
00:17they obviously got to the Eastern Conference Finals
00:19for a variety of reasons,
00:20but it's not only Donovan Mitchell, right?
00:23It's not only James Harden.
00:25It was some of these moves on the margins
00:27that have become a bigger deal
00:29to the success of this organization,
00:31Dean Wade being one of them.
00:32You're talking about an undrafted free agent
00:34who began his career as an afterthought,
00:37and then he turns into a starter-quality wing
00:39who's getting $10 million a year in free agency.
00:42That is a huge organizational success story.
00:47Those are the kinds of things,
00:48when you have a bloated salary cap
00:50and you've got all these high-priced star players,
00:52those are the kinds of wins, quote-unquote wins,
00:55that you have to have as an organization.
00:58And the Cavs have had a bunch of those for the Cavs.
01:02So finding that kind of talent has been one of the strengths
01:07of Mike Gansey because he has been somebody
01:09who throughout the course of his career
01:11has really, really consumed himself with the NBA draft,
01:16the scouting process, and everything that goes into that.
01:20And if you think about the Cavs,
01:21either their draft track record
01:23or some of those guys that I mentioned
01:26just coming out of nowhere
01:28and becoming developmental success stories,
01:31his fingerprints were all over those particular moves.
