00:00Well, Meta, out with the news just moments ago, so it made my stock movers list.
00:04The stock is up here 5.5% pre-market.
00:07It needs a lift because it's down about 15% year-to-date.
00:10Here's what's going on.
00:11The parent of Facebook and Instagram is developing plans for a cloud infrastructure business
00:16to sell access to AI computing power and models.
00:20This is meant to compete with the industry leaders like Amazon Web Services,
00:24Microsoft's Azure, and Google Cloud.
00:26It's considering selling access to various AI models hosted on its existing AI infrastructure,
00:32as well as what it calls raw computing capacity.
00:35It's all part of Meta Compute Initiative.
00:38So Meta is getting a nice lift here pre-market on that news.
00:43We've also got America going back to the moon, a little different than it did in the past,
00:49though, which is actually creating more business for a lot of hot new space startups.
00:53So NASA announced a selection of three companies to land four new missions on the moon in late
00:592028 as part of NASA's moon-based program.
01:03And here are the companies, Firefly, Intuitive Machines, and also Astrobotic.
01:11Yeah, Astrobotic is privately held, but it's being bought by Voyager Technology.
01:15That was actually announced early last month.
01:18So none of these three companies is profitable yet.
01:20For now, investors seem pretty happy with them amassing new business and growing sales here
01:25in this deal with NASA.
01:27So Firefly's share of the deal, $144 million.
01:30Intuitive Machines, $148 million.
01:33Astrobotic won $300 million in new business.
01:37So NASA is really intent, along with Elon Musk, on bringing humans to the moon.
01:43I mean, some are saying by 2032.
01:46I'm a bit confused.
01:47Are all these narratives part of SpaceX, or are they separate?
01:52They're separate from SpaceX.
01:53This is a NASA initiative.
01:55But they're saying a lot of these companies are getting a boost because of SpaceX's successful IPO.
01:59Apparently, the reason we need to go back to the moon is so that we can go to Mars.
02:03You go from moon to the moon.
02:04Is that how it goes?
02:05That's what I've heard explained to me.
02:06They kind of need, like, a refueling or launching kind of place.
02:08I saw Matt Damon at the World Cup.
02:10Yeah.
02:11He was everywhere.
02:12He was, like, more air-conditioned than Martha Stewart.
02:15Yeah.
02:16Wait, what's the Matt Damon connection to space?
02:18Martian.
02:18Oh, gotcha.
02:19I flunked yesterday.
02:20They showed Olivia Rodrigo.
02:22Oh.
02:22And I didn't know who she was.
02:24Ah, yeah.
02:24I was chastised.
02:25Celeb sighting.
02:27Afterthought put me in the timeout chair.
02:28You got another one?
02:29I do.
02:30General Mills is having a nice morning, up 3.5%.
02:33It was down about 25% year-to-date.
02:36You know what?
02:36You think General Mills, you think Cheerios, Lucky Charms.
02:39It is so much more.
02:40Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Old El Paso, Annie's.
02:43I mean, a lot of different products here.
02:45Company posted fourth quarter profit that beat Wall Street expectations, lifted by higher prices.
02:51Also, quarterly revenue came in above estimates.
02:54Remember, General Mills was recently saying, look, we need to win over shoppers with lower prices.
02:58Then they realized they were facing sales declines.
03:01So they said, oh, wait a minute.
03:01Now we're going to start raising prices again.
03:04The company is also dealing with consumers who are increasingly choosing less processed foods over many packaged foods.
03:12This has been a debate at home.
03:13To me, there's definitely been a shift.
03:15Yep.
03:16There's no question there's a shift.
03:18Like a natural shift.
03:20When my middle guy says, oh, please don't buy that because it has, you know, yada, yada, yada in the
03:23ingredients label.
03:24I know people are paying attention.
03:27Dude, I'm buying what I'm buying, you know.
03:29Yeah.
03:29General Mills, over the last five years, compounded annual return negative 7% per year.
03:34Ouch.
03:35Yep.
