00:02The U.S. Supreme Court agreed Tuesday to hear Apple's bid to avoid a contempt finding in its
00:08legal fight with Epic Games, according to Reuters. The justices will review Apple's argument that
00:13it cannot be held in contempt for violating the general intent of an injunction rather than a
00:18specific order. Apple argues it cannot be held in contempt for violating the spirit of an order
00:23rather than an express provision. Epic said it will fight Apple's fees on third-party payments,
00:30arguing lower courts correctly found them illegal and anti-competitive.
00:35The dispute follows a 2021 injunction requiring Apple to let developers include links directing
00:41users to outside payment methods. Apple later adopted new restrictions, including a 27% commission
00:48on some outside purchases. A district judge found Apple in civil contempt in 2025,
00:54and the Ninth Circuit upheld that finding in December.
