00:00Monster breaking news in the world of sports.
00:03LeBron James officially leaving the Lakers.
00:07Wow, it's happening.
00:09So what's next for the King?
00:11Shine Time starts right now.
00:13Don't stop. Keep it coming, baby.
00:17Don't stop.
00:23James!
00:26James against Caruso for the lead.
00:28No!
00:30There's the buzzer, and the thunder have won and swept.
00:34With a look at LeBron James, and you can only guess what his future holds.
00:40I don't know.
00:41I mean, I don't know what the future holds for me, obviously,
00:43as it stands right now tonight.
00:46You know, I got a lot of time.
00:47I'll sit back like I think I said last year after we lost,
00:50I think, to Minnesota to go back and recalibrate with my family
00:53and talk with them and spend some time with them.
00:56And then when the time comes, obviously, you know, you guys know.
01:00Well, now we know.
01:02We may not know where King James will be, but we know where he won't be.
01:07How about Shams Sharania breaking the Internet and breaking this monster story at noon Eastern time,
01:15where Shams tweeted,
01:17breaking news, LeBron James will continue his NBA career for the 2026-2027 season,
01:23and has informed the Lakers that the franchise can move on without him because he will play elsewhere.
01:30Wow. How about it?
01:32And then the Lakers acknowledge it, made it officially official.
01:36No ambiguity.
01:37Jeannie Boston, the Lakers released this statement following the breaking news.
01:42It's over.
01:43LeBron James is one of the greatest athletes in history.
01:46We'll always be thankful for his eight years with the Lakers,
01:49including the title he led us to in 2020 under the toughest imaginable circumstances
01:55and the countless records he broke in purple and gold.
01:58We wish him all the best in the future, both on and off the court.
02:02He will always be a cherished part of the Lakers family.
02:06We said yesterday on Shine Time that we felt like LeBron was leaving.
02:13But still, to see this news break in the fashion that it did today,
02:18man, what a wild turn of events.
02:22So James leaving the Lakers after eight glorious seasons,
02:27where he won his fourth ring and fourth finals MVP
02:31and became the NBA's all-time leading scorer, he passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
02:36And I will fight anyone who says that his run in Los Angeles was not a success.
02:42You have to remember what a dumpster fire, what a clown show,
02:46what an embarrassment the L.A. Lakers were for a long period of time
02:51before LeBron James joined them.
02:53This team, this organization was clueless and chaotic,
02:56and you had Jeannie Buss fighting her brothers, a battle she won successfully.
03:01And obviously, they needed James in terms of image, in terms of getting a winner,
03:06and this worked out brilliantly.
03:08And I will always defend LeBron.
03:10You have to remember, five years before James joined this basketball team,
03:15they won 30% of their games, 126 and 284.
03:20They missed the playoffs all five years before LeBron James joined this basketball team.
03:30So anyone who tries to spin down 2020's championship, I will always fight you.
03:36That's a crazy take.
03:37Any team could have won.
03:38It was LeBron and the Lakers, Anthony Davis and company who won that championship.
03:42I know it was COVID.
03:44I know it was a bubble.
03:45I don't care.
03:47LeBron James should always get credit for what transpired.
03:51So when you look at what James did in Los Angeles,
03:55the way that he was able to restore order, win a championship,
03:59they were always relevant, usually dominant, must-see TV.
04:03I will always and forever argue that his time with Los Angeles was a monster success.
04:09You got to remember the different coaches, what he had to navigate,
04:13Darvin Ham, Redick comes in.
04:16Obviously, Rob Palenka makes the monster trade.
04:19Last year, shocking the world with Luka Doncic.
04:22Luka just took to Twitter, thanked LeBron for his time,
04:25saying he learned so much from him.
04:28This is obviously the end of an era.
04:31But I would argue this is one that was highly successful.
04:34I mean, look, there is a great case, in my opinion,
04:38that you should absolutely unequivocally retire LeBron James' number in L.A.
04:44Let me be clear about that.
04:46He deserves to be considered a Laker great.
04:49We all know that he is one of the all-time greats in the history of sports.
04:54I think he's the number two all-time player in the history of the NBA.
04:58Michael Jordan won, LeBron James number two.
05:01What LeBron James did in Los Angeles with the Lakers was absolutely outstanding.
05:08And he deserves so much credit.
05:11Championship, restoring credibility, leaves the team in a good position.
05:16And I will always and forever believe, go back to March, that if Doncic and Reeves,
05:22if they were healthy, this team had a golden opportunity.
05:25My take-in moment on Shine Time.
05:27This team would have beat, because they were on track to get the three seed.
05:31And San Antonio would have been the two.
05:33They would have beat the Spurs, and they would have eventually lost to Oklahoma City
05:37in the Western Conference Finals.
05:39Heck, they even beat the Houston Rockets in the first round this year,
05:44even without Doncic and Austin Reeves.
05:47So, phenomenal.
05:48And I know LeBron is, to some people, a pain in the ass.
05:52Some people love him.
05:53Some people loathe him.
05:54I think what he's doing at this stage of his career over these eight years,
05:59where he has taken a look at Father Time and just smacked him in the face,
06:03it's one of the most remarkable runs from any athlete
06:07late in a career in the history of sports, if not the craziest.
06:11The fact that he is still an unbelievable player,
06:15still playing like a first-team All-NBA ball player.
06:18The fact that he is playing outstanding basketball,
06:21carried the Lakers down the stretch last year with all the injuries.
06:24I could do nothing but stress the positive here on the L.A. Lakers,
06:29and that run for LeBron in Los Angeles.
06:32So, let's talk about the future now for both LeBron and for the Lakers.
06:36And let's start with LeBron.
06:38And according to our friends over at DraftKings,
06:42the Warriors are now heavy favorites to land, Tim.
06:48A scenario we discussed at length on Shine Time yesterday.
06:53They are followed by the Cavs, the Miami Heat, and the San Antonio Spurs.
06:59So, let's have this conversation at length.
07:04Because we said yesterday on Shine Time, and I want to stress this here,
07:09we will operate under the blanket of assumption.
07:12And we said this yesterday, that LeBron James leaves the Lakers
07:17and goes to the Golden State Warriors.
07:20And what shifted my opinion was when Sham Sharania,
07:24you heard me say it yesterday, broke the story that Draymond Green,
07:29who shares an agent with LeBron James,
07:31was going to decline the player option and become a free agent.
07:36Because that frees up money for LeBron with the Golden State Warriors.
07:40So, then you saw Chris Stapp's Porzingis resign,
07:44and I think that this team is gearing up to be a really fun to watch,
07:50must-see TV kind of squad.
07:52Which is kind of wild when you consider Draymond Green and Steph Curry
07:57and LeBron James could all play together.
08:01Then, of course, you have the Anthony Davis components,
08:03and he wants a max deal.
08:05Will he get it from Washington?
08:06Will he force his way out of Washington?
08:09He did it in New Orleans, let's be honest.
08:11He could be a pain in the ass.
08:12I love Anthony Davis, always been a monster fan of AD,
08:16but Anthony Davis, if he forces his way out,
08:19you know, he could certainly be part of this as well.
08:21I don't believe that James is tied to Davis.
08:26And I think you could make a case, frankly, for two destinations.
08:32Number one, to me, is Golden State.
08:34Number two is Cleveland.
08:35I think Golden State, though, makes the most sense.
08:38If I was advising LeBron James,
08:40and I would try to make sure it happened with Anthony Davis,
08:43I would say go to the Golden State Warriors.
08:46First of all, you have to think about your image, right?
08:49I don't believe that the Golden State Warriors
08:52with LeBron James would be a championship team.
08:55It also does not matter.
08:58If he wanted to, quote-unquote, you know,
09:00help his image in terms of winning a championship,
09:03he could have stayed in Los Angeles with the Lakers,
09:05and in my opinion, if they ran it back,
09:07had a better opportunity to win
09:09than with the Warriors on the rumored squad.
09:12So, to me, going to Golden State,
09:15teaming with Steph would be dreamy, iconic, ironic,
09:20all rolled into one.
09:22How many times did we see,
09:23is it going to be LeBron's team win a championship?
09:26Is it going to be Steph's team win a championship?
09:28These guys became fast friends
09:30for Team USA Basketball in the Olympics.
09:33Look, if you have James and Curry on the same team,
09:37we're talking about Steph,
09:38greatest three-point shooter,
09:40outside shooter in basketball history.
09:42I think he's a top-ten player of all time.
09:44You team him with LeBron.
09:45They were together, won a gold Team USA.
09:48Steph with the night-night for Team USA,
09:50and the whole thing was unbelievable.
09:52Won a gold in the Olympics a few years ago.
09:54That was absolutely sensational.
09:56I don't think that James and Curry and company
10:02would be able to beat Oklahoma City.
10:05I don't think they would be able to beat San Antonio.
10:08I don't view that team as a true championship contender.
10:14But, they would be the biggest box office bonanza
10:19and traveling show in the history of the NBA.
10:22Because James can obviously still play.
10:24Steph can still play.
10:26Draymond can still play.
10:27You obviously, you saw Golden State,
10:30we talked about it last week, dominate the draft.
10:32Steve Kerr is a terrific and tremendous top-five coach.
10:36We referenced Porzingis.
10:38They have a lot of talent.
10:40Steve Kerr knows LeBron, knows him from Team USA,
10:43has coached against him.
10:44Steve Kerr is an excellent X's and O's coach.
10:47Player friendly.
10:49And look, LeBron still has his family in LA.
10:53You know, he could still be around Southern California
10:56most of the time.
10:58You know, it's a nice, quick trip up north to San Francisco.
11:01And he can certainly, and the Warriors can handle anything,
11:04he could have his retirement tour.
11:06He could play another couple of years.
11:08He can feel less pressure because all eyes are on San Francisco.
11:13He could have won Steph Curry.
11:14They wouldn't be expected to win.
11:16I think for so many different reasons.
11:19And honestly, what I do for a living,
11:22and as a sports fanatic who loves everything about sports
11:26and has a great appreciation for sports history,
11:29this is what I want.
11:31And we've talked about it yesterday.
11:33We've talked about it hypothetically.
11:34I want LeBron James and Steph Curry playing together.
11:37So many years it was driving fans nuts.
11:40Oh, is this going to be Steph and the Warriors?
11:42Is it going to be LeBron and the Cavs?
11:44LeBron and the Heat?
11:45Whatever it was.
11:46You know, I'm sick of watching these guys play.
11:48If they teamed up together, that would be just amazing.
11:52And clearly, you know, LeBron doesn't need the ball in,
11:56doesn't need to shoot in order to dominate.
11:59Ball could be in Steph Curry's hands,
12:01and he could absolutely fit in like a glove.
12:03So I'm not surprised that DraftKings has it
12:07where the Warriors are minus 500 to go and get LeBron James.
12:11I said yesterday, we're operating under the blanket of assumption.
12:15James leaves L.A., check.
12:17And we'll see if it's another check in the column
12:20of he goes to the Golden State Warriors.
12:22I would absolutely get it done.
12:23Makes too much sense.
12:25Now, Chris Haynes is a phenomenal NBA insider.
12:29Talked to him today on my SiriusXM radio show.
12:31Works for NBA TV and for SiriusXM NBA radio
12:34and for Amazon Prime.
12:36And he told me earlier today that the Lakers actually called LeBron,
12:41but he didn't return the call.
12:43So that was an hour before the news broke.
12:46Now, Haynes just tweeted that the Cleveland Cavaliers
12:49are very interested in a reunion,
12:53not the 2016 reunion that you saw all over social media
12:57with everyone getting together from that squad,
13:00but getting him back on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
13:04I am smart enough to know that I should not eliminate this.
13:09I actually think this checks a lot of boxes.
13:12And again, I'm always interested in the how and the why and the math.
13:17Look, I don't think LeBron is going to get nor is he going to desire a max contract,
13:24whether that's in Golden State or a return to Cleveland.
13:28LeBron might retire after this year.
13:30We don't know that.
13:31But can you imagine if he his final year or years in Cleveland?
13:36Could you imagine if he was the guy who delivered the Cavs another championship?
13:41If he helped Donovan Mitchell and company get over that hump?
13:45Look, I think James Harden is one of the biggest losers requisite to regular season success
13:51in the history of the sports and the history of the NBA postseason.
13:56If James would come in and you start conjuring up all these memories and,
14:00you know, either take the place of Harden or get Harden over the hump.
14:04Can you imagine that?
14:06I mean, James Harden has been one of the biggest chumps in the history of the postseason.
14:09And if James would help Harden earn his stripes when it matters the most, again,
14:15you start thinking of LeBron and his legacy and what he's looking for.
14:20If he delivers Cleveland a second title, James Harden wins a championship.
14:25I mean, all of a sudden, buckle up.
14:29If Donovan Mitchell, who has not been to the finals, finally got past the second round,
14:33if Donovan Mitchell becomes a champion and it's because of LeBron James,
14:38that helps take LeBron's legacy to a different level.
14:42So, I still think it's going to be Golden State.
14:46I'm smart enough to know you don't eliminate Cleveland.
14:50Now, the Miami thing is interesting and it's interesting for a few different reasons, right?
14:55Number one, Miami needs players.
14:57Like, if you start talking about opportunity, they don't have a roster right now.
15:02They traded for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
15:05I don't think the Heat's very good in terms of being a true title contender.
15:08I don't think they're a top four team in the Eastern Conference.
15:11And listen, it's another spot where he can go back.
15:15I will always argue that James in Miami was there for four years.
15:19It was a monster success.
15:21He won two titles.
15:22The other two years lost in the NBA Finals.
15:24People try to spin it down because of that dopey dance-off that they had after the dopey decision with
15:31LeBron and Jim Gray,
15:32where he's like, not one, not two, not three, not four, not five for all the championships, right?
15:38So, obviously, that would be something that, you know, I will always defend his legacy there, no question about that.
15:45Always defend his legacy and what he did for the four years of Miami.
15:50This might not matter in 2026.
15:53He didn't exactly leave on the best of terms with Pat Riley.
15:59Riley's stubborn.
16:01Riley's, you know, an all-timer as a coach and an executive and a basketball lifer.
16:07You know, at this stage, if you're Eric Smolstra or Pat Riley, you probably don't care about what happened when
16:13LeBron left
16:13because you kind of need to win right here, right now.
16:17And he just made the trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
16:20So, I think it's very easy to have amnesia and just forget about how it ended.
16:25And Riley was pissed, obviously.
16:28But I would be surprised.
16:31Feel free to quote this back to me if it happened.
16:33I think for Riley and his ego, but most especially LeBron.
16:38Like, if you're going to go somewhere where you're not the favorite to win, go to Golden State.
16:46Why would you go back to Miami?
16:48Golden State, to me, makes the most sense.
16:51Cleveland's next on the list.
16:52Miami, I won't eliminate it, but you could color me stunned if it happened.
16:59Then you have the San Antonio Spurs.
17:01And this one, I think, is interesting for a couple of reasons, right?
17:07Number one, Bill Simmons talked about this on his Ringer podcast, the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday.
17:15And the way Bill and Zach Lowe talked about it made me think Bill knows something.
17:23Made me think that Bill thinks there's a real shot the San Antonio Spurs are at play.
17:29Now, you could argue if LeBron went to the Spurs and showed Wemby, who became in the NBA Finals, an
17:39absolute loser and a crybaby and a thug.
17:43And at the end of this, right, he started crying when you see what transpired with, you know, when they
17:50beat OKC.
17:51It was like he celebrated, like he won a championship.
17:53I made a big deal about that.
17:55Josh Harden, the roommate show.
17:56He certainly said that got the Knicks' attention going into the Finals.
18:00And Wemby was brutal when it mattered the most in Game 1 and Game 2 and obviously Game 4 and
18:08atrocious in Game 5 and never gave the Knicks any credit.
18:11You know, you gotta remember, James had the same missteps early in his career.
18:18It sounds crazy when you stop and think about it.
18:20But early in his career was, will LeBron win the big one?
18:24And people accused him of, you know, ring hopping.
18:26I always defend LeBron for going to Miami.
18:28I think the minute you start ripping professional athletes for wanting to win and prioritizing championships over everything, I think
18:35we've all lost it.
18:37But having said that, the Spurs are the one team.
18:43If LeBron cares, and I think he does, I think that impacts his legacy in a negative way.
18:52If, in fact, at this stage of his career, he joins the Spurs to get one more ring for the
19:01Jordan fight and that's how he gets it, by hopping on where it's Wemby and it's Castle, I don't like
19:11that.
19:11I mean, if he gets his fifth title and jumps on board to Victor Wemby and Yama's team, I don't
19:20think that we're gonna add anything to LeBron's career resume and how it impacts the chase of Michael Jordan.
19:28Now, maybe he doesn't care, right?
19:30I mean, you know, LeBron, what he did turning around the Lakers, that to me holds great weight.
19:36That helps take his legacy to a different level.
19:39If LeBron goes to Golden State and plays great and they somehow go from non-playoff team to, let's say,
19:46three or a four seed, that's phenomenal.
19:48That's almost akin to what happened with the Lakers.
19:51Not apples to apples, but it's taking a team that was a non-playoff team and then, bam, finding a
19:56way to get them to the postseason.
19:58If LeBron hops on board with the Spurs, I don't like it.
20:04I don't like it.
20:06And maybe I'm reading too much into this or trying a little too much to get into the mind and
20:10the psyche of LeBron James.
20:12I just don't see LeBron James waking up in October in San Antonio, Texas.
20:20I don't see it.
20:22I don't see it.
20:23Basketball-wise, winning a championship-wise, look, you can make the case the Spurs are the favorites to win a
20:29title even without LeBron James.
20:31But that's why I just can't see him doing it.
20:34He's just going to hop on board, win a ring.
20:37Yay, another one.
20:38Take that, Michael Jordan.
20:40I just don't think that's what LeBron wants.
20:43I don't think that that's going to treat him well in the court of public opinion.
20:47Going to Cleveland will treat him well.
20:48Going to Golden State, I firmly believe.
20:52You say, all right, opportunity to play with Steph.
20:55The Warriors are not what they were.
20:56This is not the right go to the Warriors.
20:58This is James at this stage of his career.
21:00So, if I was advising LeBron, go to Golden State.
21:04And this is not an overreaction.
21:06We said this on yesterday's Shine Time.
21:09LeBron James should absolutely, positively sign with the Golden State Warriors.
21:13I think there are four teams that are in play in his mind.
21:19I think it's Golden States.
21:21I think it's Cleveland.
21:22I think it's Miami.
21:24And I don't think it's a 0% chance on the San Antonio Spurs.
21:28I can't see him doing it.
21:29I think it would be a bad job by LeBron if he did it.
21:34But I think that DraftKings nailed it in terms of the order.
21:38He's not going to the Knicks.
21:40I know the Mavericks have been floated.
21:43And Masai Ujiri is certainly capable of doing something like that.
21:48And, you know, obviously we could talk Kyrie.
21:52We could talk Cooper Flagg.
21:53We could talk Dusty May.
21:54I don't see the Mavericks.
21:56Piston's not going to happen.
21:57So I think there are four teams that to me are realistic with this monster breaking news today.
22:03I will continue to operate that he's going to the Golden State Warriors.
22:08And by the way, I'm here for it.
22:11And I can't wait.
22:12It's also going to be fascinating to see what the Lakers do next.
22:15And it's interesting.
22:17Ramona Shelburne has been all over this in terms of the next plan for the L.A. Lakers, right?
22:23Where you look at the Lakers and it almost sounds chaotic, but maybe it's like one of those high school
22:31breakups where it's like, I don't want to break up with you because I don't want that on my name.
22:35And I don't want to break up with you.
22:37So you're kind of just at the end of the day.
22:40Hope it just fades away.
22:41So nobody has blood on their hands.
22:44You know, Jeannie Buss had that statement prepared pretty quickly.
22:47So in some ways, and I do think that they wanted LeBron back.
22:53Bronny's back.
22:54His contract is guaranteed.
22:56Let's be crystal clear, right?
22:57And Bronny's improved as a player.
22:59He's certainly an NBA player.
23:00There's no question about that.
23:02But I am going to be very curious to see what the Lakers do next.
23:08You know, DeAndre Ayton opted into his contract.
23:12Do they ultimately decide at the end of the day that they're going to trade him?
23:16Is Mitchell Robinson going to be in the mix?
23:18Are they going to go after Jalen Duren?
23:21Are they going to go after Jalen Brown?
23:23I'm going to be, is Miles Turner going to be in the conversation?
23:28Fascinated to see Luka Doncic.
23:30This is now his team.
23:31Austin Reeves got his Monster Max contract.
23:34They drafted Carr, who I think was a terrific pick.
23:37Now, this is a blow for the Lakers.
23:40As we sit here right now today, the LA Lakers, this is not a real roster.
23:46This is not a roster that can get into the top four in the Western Conference.
23:51So, you'd like to think if you're a Laker fan, because there are going to be a lot of Lakers
23:56fans today,
23:57and I'm very much aware of this, rejoicing that LeBron's not there.
24:01I don't agree with that.
24:02I don't even understand that logic.
24:04But, I'm open-minded in terms of Los Angeles for 2026, 2027 and beyond.
24:12Because, you know, Luka Doncic and Ramona Shelburne has been all over this,
24:16and she reported that, you know, Luka sat down with Ron Palenka.
24:20They presented a, you know, a big plan and a big, thick binder, and a lot of it was pointing
24:26to this.
24:28Right here.
24:29Right now.
24:30Today.
24:30James' salary off the books.
24:35And, clearly, that trade represented a changing of the guard in terms of it was now Luka Doncic's team.
24:43He lost all the weight.
24:45He's locked and loaded.
24:46He'll be healthy and ready for the start of the season.
24:48So, you can color me intrigued.
24:52Concerned with the current roster.
24:54But, I will actually give the Lakers the benefit of the doubt.
24:58J.J. Redick is super smart.
24:59You know, he's super, super detail-oriented.
25:02He always has a plan.
25:03I am fascinated to see what's next here.
25:07Because, obviously, this, for the Lakers, this team right now is not one that you can guarantee that they're in
25:13the playoffs.
25:14You just can't.
25:15I want to see what's next.
25:17You're going to have all this cap room.
25:19Let's see what you can do with it.
25:21Let's see if the L.A. Lakers can ultimately get, you know, another superstar.
25:26Or, frankly, spread the wealth and get two, three, four more really good to great players who will be great
25:34around Doncic and Reeves.
25:37So, I'm not going to kill L.A.
25:40Clearly, LeBron didn't want to be there.
25:43I think, as information starts to trickle in, I don't think the Lakers are necessarily having a bad day.
25:52There's a way moving this forward to spin it and make it a good thing that James is no longer
25:59on the team.
26:00The proof will be in the pudding and what's next.
26:03Free agency in the NBA will start later tonight.
26:06This is a big stretch and a big week for the L.A. Lakers.
26:10I don't think they were caught off guard by this.
26:12I think they knew.
26:14You remember, Chris Haynes said, I mentioned this earlier, told me on my SiriusXM radio show, they called LeBron.
26:19He never called back.
26:20And who knows what the Lakers were going to say.
26:23Maybe they were going to say, you know, the old Ariana Grande.
26:27Thank you, next.
26:29That's certainly a possibility here without question.
26:32So, I am not calling this a dark day for the L.A. Lakers.
26:36Stress the positive on LeBron and what he did for eight years there.
26:39But now I'm just fascinated to see the next set of moves.
26:44You have to believe they're going to be multiple for the L.A. Lakers.
26:48Man, I live for this stuff.
26:50Oh, by the way, the original lead for today's show, John Morant is going to the Portland Trailblazers.
26:57My goodness, what a trade.
26:59You could have knocked me over with a feather when this puppy broke yesterday.
27:04It is interesting when you look at John.
27:06And, you know, John Morant, over the last three years, never available.
27:11Only played 70-plus games because of injuries.
27:15And, obviously, you think about everything that transpired with off-the-court issues and guns.
27:22And, frankly, you know, he was just, he wasn't a good teammate or a good guy
27:26and didn't do right by the great fans of the Memphis Grizzlies.
27:30So, you know, it's kind of crazy to consider it was Desmond Bain and it was Jared Jackson Jr.
27:36and John Morant.
27:37And there was that period of time, right, where, you know, you kind of felt like the Grizz can go
27:44on a run
27:45and or win the West and or win a chip 2024, 2025.
27:49And, John just absolutely torpedoed everything.
27:53So, you know, I'm not a John Morant fan based upon what he did and did to the organization
27:57and did to the fans in Memphis.
27:59Loved him in college.
28:00Was sad when the Knicks got the third pick.
28:02And, John went too.
28:03Wanted him on the Knicks in the worst possible way.
28:06Not going to pretend that I didn't.
28:07So, I'm not a John fan based upon Memphis.
28:10I do believe in second chances.
28:12Changes scenery here for John Morant, I believe, is fantastic.
28:17Now, it's an interesting fit because you have Dame and obviously you have, you know, Sharp
28:24and you have Debbie and you have a lot of ball players who kind of do the same things in
28:30Portland.
28:31Damian Lillard is going to be back and I hope that John Morant learns from him.
28:36You know, originally we thought Portland was going to do something big with regards to Jalen Brown.
28:39That's not going to be the case.
28:41I just checked my watch.
28:42It's Dame time.
28:44That's pretty great.
28:45Debbie became an all-star.
28:46I'm a big fan of what he brings to the table.
28:48You know, I'll be curious.
28:50There are some insiders who still think that Jalen Brown could be headed to Portland.
28:57They're not out of the woods on that yet.
29:00You know, I love Debbie.
29:02I absolutely love what he brings to the table and I'm going to be fascinated to see how this all
29:07plays out.
29:07Could Drew Holliday be traded somewhere?
29:11You know, that certainly is a topic for conversation.
29:15You know, the Trailblazers made the playoffs this past year.
29:19Needed some juice.
29:21Needed some pop.
29:22Needed some sizzle.
29:23The Jalen Brown situation is interesting and Chris Haynes gave me this nugget.
29:28It's worth watching Denver as a team.
29:33Denver could be the team that ends up being in the mix for Jalen Brown.
29:38I thought Portland made a ton of sense.
29:40I'm still not going to eliminate that, but I think the probability is much less than what it was 24
29:46hours ago with the John Morant stunner.
29:48But, you know, Brown going to a team like Denver and Jamal Murray trade, maybe this is a domino effect
29:55in how it relates to the Trailblazers.
29:57Then you could see Drew Holliday traded to Denver.
30:00They would need a point guard.
30:01So that will be pretty interesting to see how this plays out.
30:04Look, for Memphis, it's Boozer's team.
30:07It's Boozer's show.
30:08Obviously, they had to move on.
30:10There were such high hopes for Ja.
30:12He was a bad guy and a bad teammate and prioritized nonsense and garbage.
30:17I hope it sticks for him in Portland.
30:20It's an interesting fit from a basketball perspective.
30:23They got a lot of guys in that backcourt.
30:25I mean, if you play Dame and you play Ja on the same backcourt, I mean, it's having one of
30:30the shortest backcourts in the history of the NBA, right?
30:34I mean, that's just weird.
30:36And John needs the ball in his hands.
30:37And Dame needs the ball in his hands.
30:39And Debbie needs the ball in his hands.
30:41And Drew Holliday is a quintessential point guard.
30:44So, hell if I know.
30:46Also, not my problem.
30:48So, I think it makes sense for Portland because they needed a dude.
30:52They need to take a step forward.
30:55They certainly, I mean, you know, Jeremy Grant, Syracuse legend.
30:58You know, him and Murray, that's all they have to trade.
31:00So, it's kind of a no-brainer from that perspective.
31:03But I get it.
31:05I like it.
31:05I hope it clicks on and off the court for Ja.
31:08Color me a little skeptical in terms of matching up the positions as we sit right now when you look
31:14at the Trailblazers roster.
31:16The Knicks were in the news yesterday with a transaction of their own.
31:20I'm not leaving.
31:24I'm not leaving.
31:28I'm not leaving.
31:43I'm not fucking leaving!
31:47to take me. Oh baby, Landry Shammott's Instagram was on fire after he signed the four-year $24
31:56million deal to return to the Knicks. And listen, this comes a couple days after our guy Jose
32:01Alvarado agreed to terms on a three-year deal worth about $14 million. And I'm not surprised
32:09that Shammott's came back. I think it could have gotten more on the open market. Miami was rumored
32:14to be that team that can be interested in Landry Shammott. They need championship experience.
32:19They need to fill out a backcord. The back page of the New York Post, bravo. I mean, wham, bam,
32:26thank you, Shammott. And there's a dollar sign for the S. Yes. Yes. Absolutely, positively
32:33perfect. And look, the Knicks should run it back. I think in a lot of ways, the Knicks are going
32:39to
32:39be better when you take a look at it in the regular season. And Shammott was absolutely
32:44tough, clutch in the playoffs, especially the first three rounds, especially in the
32:49Philly and most especially in the Cleveland series. Landry Shammott is a Mike Brown favorite,
32:55you know, fights through screens, plays defense. He's not one of those guys where if he doesn't
33:00play in a game where he loses confidence or rhythm, he's a great teammate, great guy. I'm
33:06obsessed with all the clips we're seeing with him and John Turturro and the Young Man in the
33:09three podcasts. It's just absolutely awesome. I can't get enough. So I'm thrilled that Shammott
33:15is coming back. And I'm going to be curious to see what happens here with Mitchell Robinson. We said
33:20Alvarado would come back. We said Shammott would come back. And again, Steph Bondi reported that it's
33:25unlikely that Mitchell Robinson comes back. I just want to stress this with regards to Mitch, okay?
33:33I love Mitchell Robinson. Mitchell Robinson is not a starting center. He's just not. And the more
33:41minutes he plays, he's just, you don't want him being a 25 plus guy in terms of minutes. You want
33:48him in that 10 to 25 range. Bad offensive player, off injured, but he's an energizer bunny and I love
33:55him and I'm completely obsessed. I can't get enough. So I would love to see Robinson back.
34:01I think for him, you take less money. You stay with the Knicks your entire career. You have a six
34:08figure job for life as, you know, John Starks or as Larry Johnson or Bernard King. You're one of those
34:15guys on the, you know, the courtside seats and, you know, you're shaking people's hands and you're
34:20cheering everyone on. Once a Knick, always a Knick, Celebrity Row. Like that's how I would advise
34:26Mitchell Robinson sign a longer term deal for less money. Get under the second apron. That's what I
34:33want to see. But man, as someone who just can't stop smiling with regards to the championship and
34:40I'm watching every single Instagram reel and all the celebrations, having Landry Shamit back in the
34:46fold. I pumped my fist. I screamed out loud. It made my day. Run it back, baby. Go New York.
34:55Go New York.
34:56I solemnly swear. I will not shit my pants. And if I do, I won't take it from my pants
35:10and put it on
35:11the floor. Okay. Thank you. I'll have a call. Hang on. The National Center for IBS colitis and
35:27diarrhea. It's actually one in four adults suffers from IBS. I'm so sorry. Shit all you fucking want.
35:42Now, of course, the great Noah Kahn at his show in Toronto pleading with fans to use the restroom
35:51and not poop in their pants during the concert. Why did Noah Kahn have to do that and make everyone
35:58take a pledge not to poop themselves? Well, at his previous show in Philadelphia, apparently not
36:06everyone was able to follow the rule. A woman was so concerned about missing Noah Kahn songs and the
36:15concert live, she decided to defecate in her pants and then took said poop and put it
36:26in her pants on the floor shared by her fellow concert goers.
36:35A couple of things. Start at the beginning. I love Noah Kahn. Big Noah Kahn fan. It's always
36:42stick season in my house. My oldest daughter, Jolie, she's going to Fenway Park, diehard Yankee
36:47fan, by the way, in a few weeks. Noah Kahn has been on our radar forever. I just saw Noah
36:53Kahn
36:53in San Francisco. Sirius XM had a great show. He had the new album coming out. The whole
36:59thing was phenomenal. I love Noah Kahn.
37:01For Noah Kahn to have to put out a tweet, don't poop yourself. Don't take the poop. Put
37:07it on the floor. I love that there's dedication. You're at a concert and at the end of the day,
37:13you don't want to miss a minute. You love Noah Kahn. You love live music. You want to make
37:17sure you hear every minute. You know what supersedes everything? Defecation. If you got to go, you
37:26got to go. Also, plan better. Now, I know things happen, right? I get it. But probably it was
37:35your fault. So instead, I don't know, be a human. Don't poop yourself. Don't take the poop. Put it on
37:44the floor. And then Noah Kahn has to start doing all this in terms of plays at my concerts. Don't
37:52defecate in your pants. And then don't take the defecation and throw it on the floor.
37:59Stick season. More like, I'm going to be sick season. That's a show. If you miss any portion
38:08of the show, just do what I do. We watch the show over and over and over again. New York
38:12Post sports YouTube page. California Post sports YouTube page. Search Shine Time. We'll see you
38:18tomorrow on Shine Time. Turn with the poop.
