00:14sportsbook winning hits difference charlie what's happening how you doing hey charlie
00:19fantastic great to hear from you guys you too i wrote this down yesterday after the end of that
00:25germany paraguay game and i wrote these words i said there might not be anything better in sports
00:31than a world cup penalty kick shootout do you agree yeah i love it i'm not gonna lie i know
00:38the heartache it causes and and it's heartbreaking for the for the players who miss but in the day
00:45who doesn't love the drama and who doesn't love germany getting knocked out by a team that the
00:50the u.s absolutely slaughtered that is right it does make the u.s look better right so after the
00:57you know they beat a team like germany you know so i try yeah it proves their quality for sure
01:02right
01:03um the the penalty kicks like do you do you do you like the the format like you have a
01:09what 30 extra
01:10minutes after regulation and then you go to it like some people say why don't you just go right to
01:14the
01:15the kicks afterwards but do you do you like the format of of overtime and then pk's how it is
01:20in
01:20the world cup yeah i do although i wish golden goal still existed there there's something about
01:26okay we're gonna do added time you know and it's two 15 minutes but a team that goes out and
01:32scores
01:33can end the game i i loved that but you know second best sure penalty kicks after after extra time
01:39all right charlie two-part question here for the u.s and bosnia tomorrow if the u.s wins
01:45what does it mean how impressive is it and just long term let's say things go crazy and the u
01:50.s wins
01:51the whole tournament is it bigger than the 1980 miracle on ice is it like the oh that's a good
01:56most unbelievable win in united states history you know it's funny i i asked my colleagues that today
02:02i mean i actually said to my colleagues today if the u.s were to win this world cup that
02:07is the biggest
02:08win in u.s sports history international history it would be the biggest win
02:13um more so than miracle on ice without a doubt it's just the odds for the u.s to win
02:19the world
02:20cup it's they as as as difficult as it would be hard it would be more significant than the u
02:29.s being
02:29russia in in the olympics which is crazy to think um that's how i think far how far the u
02:36.s has to go
02:37um all the hurdles they'd have to to to get over to get to uh the world cup final but
02:42um if they were
02:43to beat bosnia to me that that that would be expected that's not a surprise we're we're a better
02:50team than them we have better individuals than them uh and we're playing better than them so
02:55uh it's a knockout stage so it's going to be difficult regardless but we should get by them
03:00and then the next match would be the winner between belgium and senegal and now we're starting to get in
03:05the really difficult territory but still doable territory charlie all i'm hearing is that this has
03:10been a surprise you know a lot of people didn't expect usa to come out as and play as well
03:14as they
03:15have how good are they can you kind of put it in perspective because i i really honestly i like
03:20from
03:20what i'm hearing it's a completely different thing than what i'm seeing on tv because on tv they look
03:25excellent yeah no uh the u.s has has had real strong waves um since since i started following the
03:33u.s men's national team from 1994 there'll be times where i go oh my god we're playing with
03:39you know some of the best teams in the world that we can match up i happened to be a
03:44part of a team in
03:452009 where we beat spain uh they hadn't lost in two years uh we beat them in a semi-finals
03:51of the
03:51fifa confederations cup a year before the 2010 world cup which they won and then they went on to win
03:56the euro so across uh you know six years they they were they were unbeatable um and and we happened
04:03to beat them 2-0 in that tournament which would have been one of the most significant wins it is
04:10still is one of the most significant wins but if we were able to win that final against brazil
04:13that would have been the the biggest triumph in u.s soccer history but i i think with this team
04:18right
04:19now the difference is individually they're all playing at big clubs they're they're super talented
04:23but they hadn't yet played together as a team in terms of that 2002 team that went to a quarter
04:29finals that was a team and it they were larger than the some some of their parts now if you're
04:35if
04:36you tell me that this team can play with that spirit and that collectiveness with the individual
04:40talent now we're talking about this the quote-unquote golden generation is actually a golden generation
04:47because they're doing something significant and making history so that's what everyone's waiting for
04:51is this team to elevate and now achieve things that haven't been done before uh that that would
04:58be incredible uh charlie for sure i'm curious what you think how they played you know against turkey
05:02they they said a lot of the starters christian pulisic hasn't played since the first half of the
05:07the opening game uh that's a lot of time off uh to between games do you think that was the
05:12right
05:12strategy not play guys against turkey and and to keep them rested and guys had yellow cards and that
05:17kind of thing do you think they'll be ready to go or is that amount of time off is that
05:21something that's kind of tricky and you'll be looking forward i think in this case uh the rest
05:27is going going to help the the u.s um in this match you want fresh legs it's a grind
05:32they had a long
05:33season into world cup the emotions are high the the energy is high you're you're you're they're up
05:39there with i think they're top three in distance covered um in in this world cup with with the
05:45intensity of their runs if you can get a break if you can get a game off to rotate and
05:51you have that
05:51luxury because many teams don't have that luxury take it we just saw it today in norway they rested
05:56all their players against france um that was played in foxborough i went to it with my family and
06:02everyone was kind of bummed everyone wanted to see holland versus mbappe yeah but today today it was the
06:07right decision because they went through they beat the ivory coast so i think it's obviously case by case
06:13but i think in this case um it's the right thing for the u.s to to have rested their
06:17players so
06:18they're ready to go charlie which country has the best commentator to scream the word goal
06:24we do and and it's andres cantor without a doubt um you know i i work with his son nico
06:32um and you
06:33know they're they're a miami family and i was very fortunate that when i scored against mexico in a
06:39world cup qualifier uh andres cantor was the commentator for that game it was um i remember
06:45it was on telemundo i believe and he he i scored in the ninth minute to open up the scoring
06:51in that
06:51game and to listen to it back and hear him commentate it and and do the goal goal thing
06:57i get goosebumps every single time it is epic oh yeah you know what it's it's i can't get enough
07:03of ray hudson he's my favorite he's like a he's either he's got to be scottish girl like just from
07:10the gut yeah he's the one who was like where he's uh they were showing tom cruise in the audience
07:15and
07:15his uh his uh co-announcer was like are you talking about tom cruise goes will you stop talking about
07:20Hollywood actors film if he smelt a sucker he's a magician he's a magician with words i can tell you
07:26that yes he absolutely is well well charlie this is uh as i said yesterday was the day like i
07:32i've i've
07:33loved everything about the world cup but the game or the matches that i was watching i happened to
07:37pick the ones that were like you know nil nil or nil one and i've got to be honest from
07:41somebody who's
07:42like you know i'm not uh you know i'm not somebody who watches soccer all the time it was like
07:46a i was
07:46a little down on it but after yesterday i'm all in there is nothing better than this knockout road
07:51i am in charlie you got me you know do you know how long i've fought for this
07:59all of you guys in studio for for everybody that's in in the new england sports sphere to be
08:05like hey soccer's cool and the best thing is is i didn't even care what teams it was like if
08:13usa
08:13listen i want usa to win but if they get knocked out i still don't care these games are awesome
08:17it's just the drama is fantastic oh my god do you know how beautiful that sounds i've been waiting my
