00:07:04And Miles Bourne has been proving doubters wrong his entire life.
00:07:10Can he continue to ride the wave of momentum or will Tavion Heights finally reach that championship success he has
00:07:21been fighting for day in and day out since his arrival to the Performance Center?

00:07:32The following contest scheduled for one fall is for the NXT North American Championship.
00:07:44The NXT North American Champion.
00:07:45Introducing the challenger from Fountain, Colorado weighing in at 260 pounds, Tavion Heights.

00:08:00And his opponents from Wilmington, North Carolina weighing in at 220 pounds, he is the NXT North American Champion, Miles
00:08:12Bourne.

00:08:20I want to go back to Tavion Heights for a moment who has not taken his eyes off of Miles
00:08:23Bourne.
00:08:24This is Heights' first premium live event since No Mercy of last year.
00:08:28It just goes to show you, Wade, how truly hard it is to break through something you can certainly speak
00:08:35about.
00:08:35Yeah, so the climb, especially at this level in NXT, is never linear.
00:08:40You think, oh, great, I've had my first PLE match.
00:08:42Maybe I got a couple of wins here and there.
00:08:45It doesn't mean you're going to be guaranteed to be on every single PLE.
00:08:48You've got to pick your moments, and when you get them, you have to convert them.
00:08:51And this is not going to be easy for either man tonight.
00:08:54Spirit of competition certainly at a high point between these two.
00:08:57Third time, these two have gone one-on-one.
00:09:00For the record, Miles Bourne has won both of those.
00:09:03How does that weigh on each competitor?
00:09:06Well, nobody is owed a win in this game.
00:09:08But for somebody like Tavion Heights, you lose, you go 0-3 against the competitor.
00:09:14You simply have to face facts that at this stage in your career, for both men,
00:09:18it's still the early stages of their career.
00:09:20He is just the better man.
00:09:22Really imperative that Heights gets the win tonight.
00:09:25I don't know if Miles is going to succeed trying to out-wrestle Heights.
00:09:30Calls himself the Olympic Kid, representing Team USA at the 2020 Summer Olympics,
00:09:34a gold medalist at the Pan American Championships in the same year.
00:09:38And certainly this is going to be right up Heights' alley.
00:09:42A peak performer growing week in and week out.
00:09:45A five-tool player, if you will.
00:09:47And Miles Bourne trying to switch things up here for a moment.
00:09:49And Heights just holding on.
00:09:51Well, Heights has it all.
00:09:52What he hasn't had yet is that big career win that puts him on the map.
00:09:57He is one breakout win away from being a top tier NXT star.
00:10:02And this is the win.
00:10:04If he can get this done, if he can grab gold from someone as accomplished as
00:10:09Miles Bourne, then yeah, put Tavion Heights on the map for good.
00:10:13Two biggest crossover athletes still to come for the NXT Women's Championship.

00:10:18There's now both men getting a little bit gritty,
00:10:21getting a little bit nasty in the center of the ring.
00:10:27Well, there's that brotherhood, that respect that has turned antagonistic.

00:10:35Quickly blocked though by Heights.
00:10:37Man, I'm a massive fan of Miles Bourne.
00:10:38I have been from the day I met him.

00:11:07And a drop kick taking Heights all the way to the outside right here in front of us.
00:11:10And the action is starting to spill out.
00:11:12And look, sometimes brothers fight the most.

00:11:49And it'd be interesting to see if that respect is maintained as we start to get
00:11:54towards the deeper waters of this one.
00:12:00Pace starting to quicken the smack talk, picking up.
00:12:03And look at that take down, and quickly though, right back to the mat,
00:12:05floating right over into a cover.
00:12:07And again, I don't know if the strategy of Miles Bourne to want to try to out-wrestle
00:12:12an Olympian is the strategy.
00:12:13Well, I think it's an ego thing, and obviously they've trained a ton together,
00:12:16and you have to think that Miles Bourne knows exactly what Tavion Heights has got
00:12:22in his locker when it comes to wrestling, and feels today that he can put a statement
00:12:26wing down by out-wrestling this genius level wrestler that is Tavion Heights.
00:12:31Oh, Miles was looking for that snap power slam.
00:12:36Tavion, of course, knew what was coming as Bourne saw that kick coming in.
00:12:40Oh, that was unique.
00:12:42From the outside to the inside for Miles Bourne.
00:12:46Fool me once, shame on you.
00:12:47You're not going to fool me twice.
00:12:48He was able to connect the second time in a big suplex fisherman style.
00:12:53Still doesn't get the three as that left shoulder off the mat,
00:12:56but I believe Miles has now caught Tavion two times by surprise.
00:13:01Well, a couple of brothers who know each other inside and out, who've trained together for years,
00:13:06who know their strengths and weaknesses.
00:13:08The question is, who has the ability to change it up more and catch their brother by surprise?
00:13:13And right now, you've got to say it's the champ Bourne.
00:13:16Well, it's hard to argue because Miles is certainly in control right now of the situation,
00:13:22controlling the body of Tavion at this junction.
00:13:26Great job by our official.
00:13:27What a night it has been here at the Great American Bash.
00:13:31First premium live event since Stan and Deliver.
00:13:34And Miles Bourne had a big moment at Stan and Deliver in St. Louis when he was able to retain
00:13:39his North American championship.
00:13:41And for Miles Bourne, he was starting to show Heights the path, so to speak.
00:13:46That goes back to when they were in the No Quarter Catch crew.
00:13:48Yeah, and clearly Miles Bourne felt like he was stagnating in that group,
00:13:53which is why he stepped away and proof positive that it was the right decision is the goal that he
00:13:57now carries.
00:13:59And I think that has lit a little fire inside of Tavion Heights.
00:14:03And I hate to say it, but the word really is jealousy or envy, I suppose,
00:14:08that Heights wants what his brother has got and starts to resent, in a way,
00:14:12Miles Bourne because he doesn't have that too.
00:14:15Well, also, I go back to Miles giving Heights the blueprint, so to speak,
00:14:20was the first one to break away from the No Quarter Catch crew.
00:14:23We saw Ren Sinclair earlier pop Charlie at MC in the jaw.
00:14:26I'm sure these two would love to do the same thing.
00:14:27It's from behind, shoulders down.
00:14:28And a kick out from the challenger champion getting right back up to a front face line.
00:14:32And again, being overpowered for the moment.
00:14:35Now literally overpowered all the way to that top rope, sitting on the turnbuckle.
00:14:38As Heights now, trying to pull out all the stops.
00:14:41I mean, you might need to pull out a cheap shot at some point.

00:14:45God, that was ugly.

00:14:56North American Championship hanging in the balance.

00:15:07And now, I think that might have been the first right hand thrown in this matchup.

00:15:15We saw this snap power slam from Myles Bourne.
00:15:18And then this nasty landing just moments ago, which turned to complexion.
00:15:22But we just saw a right hand thrown by Tavion.
00:15:25And I think the fun and games are over now as Heights charges right in.

00:15:33Yeah, been a very good clean fight so far.
00:15:36A lot of respect between these two brothers.
00:15:38But ultimately, you have to put all that aside.
00:15:41There's gold on the line.
00:15:42And not only that, a chance to progress your career forward in a serious way here tonight.
00:15:48And if it takes a punch to the jaw on your brother, apologize later.
00:15:53Buy him a box of chocolates if you have to.
00:15:55But win that gold.
00:15:57Well, there's that strength.
00:15:58Just a gut wrench toss of the champion by the challenger into the cover.

00:16:05And this goes back to what I was getting ready to ask you moments ago.

00:16:08And you see that slam one more time.
00:16:10What strategy would you be implementing to switch things up?
00:16:14Because again, you said it time and time again, they know each other so well.
00:16:18Yeah, it depends who can come up with something new.
00:16:20Get out of your own wheelhouse.
00:16:21Look, you talk a lot about the wrestling background, excuse me, at Tavion Heights.
00:16:26These are two thoroughbred athletes.
00:16:28If Heights has to go away from the wrestling because that is what Bourne is prepped for,
00:16:33and suck him in the mouth, then do it.
00:16:35Take this the ugly way if you have to.
00:16:37And this is exactly what Heights is doing now.
00:16:40I really like this.
00:16:41Rapid fire elbows one after another.
00:16:44And the champion right now is certainly rocked.
00:16:46It is Heights who is trying to become the 24th different superstar to win the North American Championship.
00:16:52A title held by Solo Sokoa, Johnny Gargano, even Damian Priest.
00:16:57Yeah, and Tavion Heights feels like the forgotten man in this situation.
00:17:01The man who's been left in the dirt for no real reason that Bourne just got the opportunity for him.
00:17:07And this is how you turn it around.
00:17:08Look at that suplex.
00:17:09Is it enough for the title?
00:17:10And another kick out by the champion.
00:17:13And here's the issue for Tavion Heights.
00:17:15He's starting to get a little frustration at this point because things are simply not going as smoothly as he
00:17:21would like.
00:17:21He's got the upper hand, but simply Bourne is too tough to stay down.
00:17:25And take another look at this.
00:17:26Unique T-bone style suplex there.
00:17:30Incredibly impressive, but Bourne is one hard wearing dude and is not lying down easy here.
00:17:36You know, you used the word just moments ago here to talk about heights.
00:17:40The word was frustration, was frustrating.
00:17:43Do you get a sense there's a lot of frustration that has been built up in the challenger here tonight,
00:17:48who has continued to lock in submission after submission on the champion?
00:17:52Yeah, you don't want to come across as the bitter guy, the resentment.
00:17:56Look, there's still love between these two, but really, if the bitterness is coming from anywhere,
00:18:01it's the man who has been left behind, the man who doesn't have the spotlight,
00:18:03the man who doesn't have the gold, and that's Tavion Heights.
00:18:06And you can turn it all around tonight in a tap out or a three-second pitch.
00:18:12You're starting to wonder if anything's wrong with Myles Bourne.
00:18:14You see Bourne's the color of Bourne right now.
00:18:16He's been in so many different submissions.
00:18:19It looks like he's certainly straining right now in this matchup.
00:18:23You got to wonder if maybe the air has been taken out of him,
00:18:26going back to that nasty spill just a few moments ago.
00:18:29Well, not even that.
00:18:30Earlier on in the match, it was a double head collision between the two of them.
00:18:34I guarantee you they both have cobwebs from that, and sometimes it's difficult to shake that off.
00:18:39And you know, if anyone can, it's Myles Bourne.
00:18:41Cover off the Northern Lights, and a kick out.
00:18:44Bourne helped Heights become the number one contender, by the way,
00:18:47only for Heights to turn around and just shout at him several weeks ago.
00:18:51Yeah, look how rugged Myles Bourne is.
00:18:54Oh, that was a nasty shot right to the throat by Heights, and the gloves truly are off now.
00:18:59And did you notice Myles' body just almost giving out on him?
00:19:02Could have been a knockout blow, and Tavion following right up.
00:19:07And you've got to go low sometimes.
00:19:09You have to fight dirty, and Myles Bourne was not expecting this from Heights,
00:19:13and it goes back to what we were talking about.
00:19:15Change it up, throw something at your brother, at your former partner,
00:19:20this guy you've respected for so long and trained with that he's not anticipating.
00:19:24Cover for the championship, and a kick out.
00:19:26Myles Bourne right now is hurting.
00:19:29The champion is wounded.
00:19:30He is an inspiration to many all over the world.
00:19:34He will never break, but his limits are being tested right now by Heights.
00:19:40The same man in Heights who knows him so well, who has been just trying desperately
00:19:45to put gold around his waist tonight may be the night.
00:19:48Yeah, seriously, debilitated now is Myles Bourne.
00:19:51It's not often you can say that in a match of his.
00:19:53Such a great athlete, so well-conditioned, but getting it sapped out of him now by Tavion Heights,
00:19:59who is in full control here.
00:20:01Rolling right through, stepping forward, belly to back suplex, executed to perfection,
00:20:06into the cover, and another near fall.
00:20:08And there really isn't much.
00:20:10Both these superstars right now are spent.
00:20:14The gas is almost on E for both.
00:20:16One will walk out champion.
00:20:41Tavion Heights is coming with a strategy.
00:20:43He is starting to wear out his former partner, his friend, the current reigning defending
00:20:49NXT North American champion.
00:20:52You saw Heights in his early days inside the Performance Center here in Orlando.
00:20:56What is this man missing?
00:20:58He's only missing one thing because he has literally all the athletic tools and
00:21:03discipline any man could ever want.
00:21:05Power slam, cover, and a kick out.
00:21:08The only thing Heights is missing is that career credibility that gold will bring you,
00:21:14that a moment like this, defeating a competitor like a Miles Bourne will give you.
00:21:20That spotlight will stay on you for good.
00:21:22You have that credibility that you so desire, but there's only one way to get it,
00:21:26and tonight it's the hard way.
00:21:28Floating right over into another cover is the champion to retain and couldn't get it done.
00:21:33And you truly believe if Heights wins this match, there will be almost like a weight
00:21:38that will come off his shoulders?
00:21:40Oh, no doubt about that.
00:21:41Look, this guy is, he has all the tools.
00:21:43He has everything you could ever wish for, but now he's in his own head about,
00:21:48am I really as good as Miles Bourne, the guy who I was on par with for many years?
00:21:54Well, yeah, you certainly are if you put him away now.
00:21:56Oh, what a shoulder breaker into the cover.
00:21:59Another near fall, but Heights right now, I mean, that frustration starting to bubble out of the challenger.
00:22:07Well, that frustration might take you to some real dark places,
00:22:11and to put away Miles Bourne tonight, you might need to go to a dark place
00:22:15that you've never had to go to before, so I certainly wouldn't begrudge the frustrations of Tavion Heights right now.
00:22:23And this is something that shows you the growth of Heights.
00:22:25He hits that shoulder breaker, and what does he do?
00:22:28He goes immediately to that same shoulder after the kick out.
00:22:32Continue to apply the pressure.
00:22:34Nice counter, though, and a counter for a counter.
00:22:36The knee, though, was blocked right into a hip toss, which was countered into an arm drag,
00:22:40and another submission locked in.
00:22:42Bourne trying to hold on and remember the damage that's been done to that shoulder.
00:22:45What we've seen submission style, what we saw with that shoulder breaker,
00:22:50and Heights right now is straining, trying to create separation.
00:22:53Bourne, though, trying to get to his belly.
00:22:55Yeah, that is a superb block by Miles Bourne.
00:22:57Shoulder, shoulder, shoulder.
00:22:58Converted into a pin as well, but now that arm is extended, here we go.

00:23:03Oh, we're gonna certainly find out truly what Miles Bourne is made of,

00:23:19His elbow is made out of sinew just like everybody else's, and it will snap in a heartbeat if he's

00:24:11And of course, no one knows it better than his former training partner, Tavion Haichu.

00:24:30And you could hear the air drive out of the lungs of Miles Bourne.
00:24:36I'll tell you, both men know each other so well, they both knew they were in for a real fight

00:24:41No easy wins, but that count is starting to climb.
00:24:44Referee at five, Haichu knows he's gotta get Bourne back into the ring.
00:24:47The count broken at six, and this might be his best opportunity.
00:24:50To finally crown himself champion, and that left shoulder off the mat.
00:24:55And this is crucial time now for both men, but especially the challenger.

00:26:28And this has slipped away from the challenger.
00:26:30And Miles Bourne, hats off for you, sir.
00:26:34And a nice show of sportsmanship between these two.
00:26:40Tavion will take his career to new heights.
00:26:44Tonight wasn't the night, however.
00:26:47Your heart goes out to the challenger, but a lot of respect goes to the man who is still champion.
00:26:58Miles Bourne, congratulations on retaining your NXT North American Championship.
