00:13Sagar district. The 19-month-old child has lost his eyesight after treatment at a government
00:20hospital. What began as a visit for a cold and redness in the eye has turned into a life-altering
00:27tragedy. The child's condition deteriorated instead of improving after medication was
00:32administered. The grieving family is demanding accountability and strict action against those
00:38responsible. How does this keep happening in our country? You go to a hospital, you trust a doctor
00:44and you trust the pharma company with a medicine just for a red eye and cold and you end up
00:51blind.
00:59A shocking case of medical negligence has led to a child losing his eyesight. In Madhya Pradesh's
01:06Sagar district, 19-month-old Vinay Vishwakarma was taken to the Banda civil hospital for a cold and
01:12redness in the eyes. The child's father has said that after examining the child, the doctor on duty
01:19administered an eye drop, along with paracetamol syrup, an injection and other medications. But instead
01:27of recovering, the toddler's condition worsened over the next few hours.
01:45Given the child's critical condition, he was immediately referred to the district hospital
01:50in Sagar, where doctors advised taking him to a bigger hospital. The family then took the child
01:56to AIMS Bhopal. According to the father, specialists at AIMS informed them that the child had completely
02:01lost his eyesight due to incorrect treatment.
02:22Their grieved family has lodged a complaint at the Banda police station stating that the doctor
02:27is guilty of gross negligence and demanding strict action against the doctor and the responsible staff
02:34members. The chief medical and health officer has constituted a committee to investigate
02:40the case.
02:55A visit to a hospital meant to heal has led to a 19-month-old facing a lifetime without sight,
