00:22of the most powerful might just be between a mother and her daughter I can't wait to show
00:27you how much I love you we're used to seeing moms send daughters down the aisle but we're turning
00:33that tradition on its head because this time mom's the bride are you ready I'm ready in this series
00:41daughters take the lead planning their mother's wedding growing up you did the impossible I can
00:47handle this sometimes it's a second chance at the day mom never had I don't think I got to pick

00:52flowers I don't even remember the cake and sometimes it serves up emotions no one saw coming I'm still
01:01trying to catch my breath get ready because you are invited to a very special wedding this is a dream
01:09come true where mom's the bride I am here in the town of Fairlawn New Jersey because Bridget is
01:26planning her mom Liz's wedding all right what do you want to start with something about love and
01:34they're both very creative and artistic I'm thinking we'll have to feature these at the wedding
01:39especially because we're going for an artsy feel you know my name is Bridget my mom is Liz and she
01:48is
01:48getting married to her fiance Nick we're both a little quirky we're both a little artistic and Nick treats me
01:58amazing yeah he just Nick takes care of me because of their big love of arts Liz wants to throw

02:06kind of fabulous bohemian wedding you know I also do love supporting my local artists so I think that
02:13would be something I think I would like to see there too Liz has lots of big ideas and from

02:19understand Bridget is having a little trouble reining her in so that's where I come in I am here to

02:26all right ladies how are those paints coming along awesome well I don't know if you're interested in
02:32some figure drawing but we actually have a live model oh okay yeah all right it's Erin Cahill
02:55I'm very confused by all of this what is going on Bridget reached out and I hear you are having
03:03a 300 person wedding yeah which is to date the largest wedding in my life I think that's a number
03:08of weddings put together I had to get Erin to come help us plan this wedding so we're not painting

03:20today obviously I want it to be everything she hopes and dreams but trying to get it to all come
03:28together and how to make sure everything runs smoothly it's a little bit overwhelming it's a lot
03:32of pressure trying to get this exactly right for your mom I was not married when I had her and
03:39her
03:39father was very in and out of her life I really never had that solid support person so it was
03:47from
03:48the beginning kind of me and her my mom is she's a tough cookie she is very resilient she had
04:00a baby
04:00when she was younger than me the challenges that we've had it's not necessarily a bad thing we have
04:09grown together through that and still be a dynamic duo you guys are like such besties yeah pretty much
04:18oh my gosh yeah I want to hear everything from you oh I want to hear how you met Nick
04:24so Nick and I
04:26have known each other since high school it was 1989 we were in chorus together Nick looked like Bon Jovi
04:34he had the big hair and he had the fringe me and the other seniors created the Nick Magarelli fan
04:42club
04:42and guess who became the president of his fan club you were the president of your future husband but I
04:49didn't know that at the time well no how could you after high school we lost touch and about
04:5620 years ago we both ended up working for the borough of Fairlawn and then eight years ago we decided
05:03to do
05:04theater together although we didn't get to play love interests in the play we actually just kind of
05:10blossomed from there I want to hear about the proposal how did Nick propose so we went to Santa Fe
05:17New
05:18Mexico we went out there for a view of the stars and he thought there would be moonlight and he
05:24would ask
05:25me to marry him and in reality there's no moonlight because that's the best time of the month to see
05:32the stars oh it was it was perfectly imperfect and when you think back on that what is marriage but
05:43it's perfectly imperfect I'm super excited for them to get married they both have the same values with
05:49their family and their children and they both want to make the most out of their lives tell me more
05:56about
05:57the wedding the vibe hippie boho disco art music Western that's the theme wait girl that's not
06:06the theme that is like eight themes no that's nothing okay I just want you to know what happened in

06:12head there's like a person in a full disco like 70s sequin jumpsuit on top of a horse with a

06:18yes okay exactly at this point in our lives we want to celebrate the things that we love I don't
06:24want
06:24anything traditional so I don't want a very traditional feel I want something that's more
06:28of a party I want to incorporate all those pieces of us music art Santa Fe just bringing all these
06:37people together and Nick and I are such a part of our community to have that is so important it's
06:52really
06:52beautiful community is pretty important to my mom she's always in a meeting or at an event she wants
07:02to really make it beautiful so I heard he found a venue the venue is the craftsman a restaurant in
07:08town and they gave us the whole place five different rooms to work with what are you gonna do with
07:14five
07:14different rooms what I know is that there will be a karaoke room I have never heard of a karaoke
07:20room at a
07:21wedding this is awesome she's a rock star she gets the crowd crazy Liz Liz Liz we're talking about
07:28incorporating some artists are you thinking live artists like people actually painting on the spot yeah
07:34wow absolutely what we really wanted was a mechanical bull but we couldn't do that due to insurance
07:43purposes we were not able to acquire said mechanical bull I mean we want everybody to leave and be like
07:51that yeah was the best wedding ever okay no pressure but your mom just said best wedding ever exactly I
08:00feel
08:01like there's there's got to be like one like bold artistic moment like just something that wows everybody
08:08and really sets the tone for where we're going with this event you have your work cut out for you
08:14yeah I'm here to help okay I'm so excited for you to tie on these dresses yeah I mean look

08:43vision for the dress I'm looking for something creative and bohemian and artistic and there was
08:48another word as well disco disco is an important part of this if we can fit that in yes it's

08:56going to be a challenge to find a dress that gets all the different components she's looking for

10:32caftans too so this is totally her style this is a little too mother of the bride oh love this

10:44Lacey another caftan style it's almost the same but more boho these are anything but traditional so

18:23her like that is really special I think it was one of those things that even though they've known each
18:30other for a long time they haven't been together for a long time and they kind of needed to grow

18:38couple first before they got to this point absolutely she's always like your team Nick I was like yeah
18:48yeah I'm so lucky I'm getting like a beautiful family you know in addition to my family honestly
18:55yeah no I do yeah honestly obviously you guys this wedding is gonna be absolutely incredible just
19:01because of your love story alone let alone all the artistic elements all of your guys joy and zest
19:08for life and creativity it's all already part of the wedding but I do now really want something to
19:15happen here because I'm completely in love with this and just being back here it's a feeling so how can

19:21make that feeling happen on your wedding day what about hear me out what about if we do the first

21:03wedding this is a wedding and a huge community party there are a lot of elements a lot of rooms

21:18of events so big shoes to fill oh these are so gorgeous mom I told Allah what you were looking

21:31so this is what she came up with Bridget told me terracotta colors touches of blue desert tones so I
21:40have
21:40all different selections that go with the whole Santa Fe vibe you got different types of greenery you
21:45got that sunflower you got the portia flowers we brought the blue through delphinium this is one of
21:51my favorites actually it's called Moab so that gives you that warm desert tone I love the colors I love
21:57the combination of it this is something that Bridget showed me that you might be interested in oh how
22:04cool is this okay let me see so instead of a bouquet she came up with that idea so that's
22:10completely up
22:10to you whether you want to go with the bracelet but this is very cool very different it is an
22:15untraditional wedding I love this I love this I think I it gives me the chance to dance guys
22:23I can still dance we can still dance what I love about this is I don't have to worry about

22:31I think can we do something more that matches that absolutely this is such a good idea absolutely yeah

24:29up we go out I love it so big long cake instead of tall tiered cake yes we have a
24:35really long cake
24:36that means we can maybe have one or two or three flavors at least three so are you thinking you're
24:47going to put all of these in one cake yeah which means at the wedding we can have a piece
24:51of that
