00:00A lot of the studies that underpin some of the decisions that are made about screening were designed quite a
00:05long time ago.
00:06Medicine has really dramatically improved over the past decade, both in terms of advances in MRI technology.
00:13So being able to identify cancer more accurately than before, faster and cheaper MRI scans.
00:20AI is also being trialed across the NHS to improve the interpretation of the scans and identify the people that
00:27are maybe most likely to benefit from treatment.
00:30And the treatment itself is also improving with robotic surgery, more precise radiotherapy and, as we were talking about, active
00:36surveillance becoming the standard.
00:38Patients are also better informed. So there are very, very, very good and very, very well researched arguments on both
00:47sides.
00:48But it is worth noting that this committee of experts did consider all the available evidence to come to the
00:54decision that they did.
