00:00We have concluded our first hour, the majority hour of the deposition with Leon Black.
00:07I have just issued two subpoenas to Mr. Black.
00:12One for all the NDAs that he is party to, and second for a deposition on July 16th.
00:23So this is a result of refusing to answer specific questions about the NDAs and the terms.
00:32We believe that information is vital to our investigation.
00:38I will remind everyone that Mr. Black came in voluntarily, but they are refusing to disclose that.
00:47So I have issued the subpoena, and we are handing it to him as we speak.
00:51The subpoena is for him to appear again?
00:55To appear for a deposition and for the NDAs.
01:01And have those officially been sent off?
01:06The subpoena is in hand at this second.
01:08It was delivered as I was walking out the door.
01:10And I mean, what prompted this?
01:12I know you said that he's not answering questions.
01:15Is he being combative and not answering those questions?
01:17Is he saying he has no information to share, or is he saying he doesn't want to give up?
01:22His response was that he wasn't allowed to discuss the terms of the NDAs.
01:31What are these NDAs, like, between him and one of the other women?
01:35The NDAs are between him and other women.
01:38We want to know, was Jeffrey Epstein involved in the NDAs?
01:44Was he involved in writing?
01:46Was he involved in awarding funds to the women for the NDAs?
01:54What was the reason for the NDAs?
01:59We want to know everything about the NDAs.
02:01So that's very important to our investigation.
02:04So the subpoenas were issued.
02:06We expect to see him back here in a few weeks.
02:10I mean, do you kind of get the sense that he will answer those questions under oath?
02:17Did he indicate that in any way?
02:19Well, I mean, everyone in America is keeping up with this investigation.
02:23I don't think it's any secret that we need that information.
02:29We've spoken with certain people about the potential for these NDAs.
02:39I'm going to be very careful what I say.
02:40We need the NDAs to be able to move forward with the investigation.
02:44I'm surprised that they knew what we needed when we came in here.
02:51We were hoping we would get it.
02:52We didn't.
02:53So the subpoena has been issued, and we're serious.
02:55We're going to get those NDAs, and he's going to answer questions.
02:58Thank you all very much.
02:59I have some more questions, Mr. Chairman.
03:01You've done a lot of these transgender interviews and definitions.
03:04We've covered all of them.
03:05We've never seen a situation like this come out in the middle of it
03:09because a witness wasn't being forthcoming.
03:11Well, that's a very important question in this investigation about the NDAs.
03:17And I think we'll be releasing the transcript very soon.
03:21He made a statement that it's not uncommon for people to have NDAs.
03:26I don't think it is common for people to have NDAs.
03:31So this is very important for our investigation.
03:36I don't see how we can complete an investigation without seeing what these NDAs.
03:44We knew for a long time there were NDAs out there by various people.
03:50Obviously, they're very hard to obtain.
03:53And with this subpoena, we expect to get those NDAs in hand.
03:59We expect to resume the deposition very soon.
04:05We'll see if he's going to continue to answer questions.
04:09But our questions revolve around those NDAs.
04:12So we'll have him back in here.
04:15And we'll go from there.
04:16So thank you all very much.
