Ka'b ibn Malik (RA) was one of three sincere companions who stayed behind from the Expedition of Tabuk without a valid excuse. Unlike others who offered excuses, Ka'b told the truth. As a result, he faced a 50-day boycott until Allah accepted his repentance and revealed verses about him in the Qur'an.
