00:54hi guys it's Saint Nick here welcome to my crazy Christmas basement let's take a tour I'm 26 and
01:00I still live here with my parents down here usually is at least half of the year is decorated everybody's
01:06bathroom needs ceramic trees we got them everywhere I was born on Christmas Day so the first night of
01:12my life I was literally put in a Santa hat and a Santa outfit right at the hospital so I
01:18go by
01:18Saint Nick here is my crown jewel of trees it's a white bottle brush tree which is really really
01:24hard to find this came straight out of a drugstore so I'm thinking it's at least 50 years old over
01:30here
01:30is like another crown jewel this was only made for about two or three years and it actually starts
01:36snowing I could show you right here the snow gets sucked up from the bottom and then blows through
01:42the whole tree like it's snowing I'll probably never get rid of my stuff because I am
01:48so obsessed with collecting it makes me all bubbly I feel like a kid again so anytime I could feel
01:53that
01:53way in this crazy world I will and I'll never let anybody tell me otherwise usually every garland is
01:59covering every little edge see how there's a couple edges over on that window there they cover every
02:05single edge I hate seeing edges if I go in your house I will be judging your tree not you
02:10physically
02:10but you're sure you got to see my bedroom go on in here is my really really special stuff anything
02:20that could break and I don't want anybody touching I keep behind these doors oh and speaking of cool
02:28things this is my idea of my dream house but in little miniature scale the wallpaper is actually real
02:34wrapping paper from the 1960s and why not you got to have the elf going to the bathroom isn't he

02:40I love him every night I sit in this bed and I get to have the view of this entire
02:46crazy Christmas extravaganza
02:48so you could just sit here and relax and look at all the really cool shiny stuff isn't it cool
02:56look this tree took me eight hours wow and it keeps uh not moving wait watch wait wait
03:08she spins just very uh not consistently isn't it nice I used to just sit home and just strictly
03:16play with Santa Clauses but once I met him I finally actually uh found out what a social life is
03:22you used to just strictly play with Santa Claus I did I did I'm only like 50 percent done with
03:28this room to normal people this is done there's literally 20 snowman that go on that couch do they
03:34look like they're there look at how cute that is he's definitely obsessed he's in his own little world
03:4324 7 then he definitely misses out on a lot of stuff but whatever he sets his mind on is
03:49what he's
03:50gonna do until he gets it done why are you looking at it like that stop it's freaky freaking cool
04:03all right let's go look for the Santa I don't know exactly where it is but we're gonna find it
04:08anytime I'm free I will always want to be out in my workshop fixing refurbishing repainting just
04:15getting stuff ready for this holiday season especially if you have as many projects as I do
04:19it's pretty much a never-ending cycle I had a Santa that I already started to rehab a couple months

04:24so I have to find this Santa Claus and get it going Nicholas when are we gonna put this stuff
04:30away
04:31look at it isn't that so nice Nick is my youngest of seven as a kid he always was a
04:38collector and it's
04:40never gonna stop I just want to admire it still put them away please I know I'll get there we're
04:45in
04:45the middle of summer I do construction which is also kind of a creative outlet you get to build nail
04:51create paint a lot of the times I'm painting which I find very relaxing so exactly what does it look
04:58like and what is it in it's in a box and it's got a red suit I'll pick anything off
05:03the shelf that I
05:04feel is in that category okay okay you go that way you go that way look in a box that
05:12doesn't have
05:12blow molds like this see it's all stacked my barn is sort of an organized mess it's 40 by 80
05:17and I
05:18specifically wanted the 16-foot ceiling so that I could put all of my giant things just straight in
05:23there this Pinocchio what the hell is this that ain't going nowhere that used to hang on State Street in
05:29Chicago there's just so much stuff overflowing if somebody steps on something I got probably a hundred
05:34more of them what is that is that a banana okay oh it's batty bear what is this I created
05:42that
05:43thing in high school its hair is falling off it's terrifying oh no oh it it's definitely hoarding
05:48but cool stuff is it really hoarding if it's cool and people think it's cool that's the real question
05:55this is a bag of that stuff leave that that's all craft stuff it's a bag of bags okay can
06:00we get the
06:01bigger stuff out of the way please Nick's collection has cost him upwards of a hundred thousand or more
06:09it is concerning but he knows what's worth buying and everything that he purchased can be turned over
06:18and he can make three times four times off of every single thing oh my god this is actually mine
06:25what is this oh if Nick had more barns he would fill them all he has so much stuff it's
06:34endless and he
06:36could never get enough stuff oh oh god don't drop anything on me please found them I think I am
06:45the
06:45real life elf here let me just you're good you're good you're fine every single thing I eat is covered
06:52in syrup it gives me energy and that's probably why I'm always smiling and jittery because I'm just
06:5690 percent sugar oh I'm so happy I found it oh yeah that's long enough us too
07:08oh are you down here yeah oh Jesus what are you doing here well I came over to get that
07:15thing for
07:15your mom but where did all this stuff come from well you know over time as a collector it just
07:22kind
07:22of builds up I guess I'm hope this is my dad Chris and I love Christmas yeah she loves Christmas

07:31extreme I guess is the way to put it I am obsessed with making Christmas headbands I did make one

07:35you oh thank you honey okay how does that feel great just great thank you why do you need two

07:45those yeah I think one would be good you know well I have three that's nice my collection is pretty

07:52it started with blow molds and now it's like the tchotchkes and it's huge my entire basement is
07:58Christmas I'm gonna take those two and let me grab the last one isn't there enough up there already
08:04well I'm gonna decorate for the living room too hey you've seen my house decorated for Christmas
08:13yeah my love of Christmas started as early as I can remember when I was a child okay so last
08:18year Kyle
08:19and I were talking about suspending Santa and the reindeer from the ceiling do you think you could
08:23help me do that no my dad back in the 90s you know in his heyday really decorated for Christmas
08:30he
08:31would go out and string all the trees outside and probably blow molds I bought blow molds just
08:36because I knew the kids would like them no actual intent of creating this passion will you grab this
08:42one for me yeah sure my dad started a Christmas dish set for my mom and as a kid we
08:48would buy my mom
08:48pieces of it and give that to her for Christmas so it really started my love for collecting open up
08:54here right yeah there we go turn for me there we go in a previous profession I have dealt with
09:01hoarders
09:01and I can see the signs so we're good good signs it was his job to go in people's houses
09:07for safety
09:08code so that he has seen his fair share but I'm not hoarding garbage I'm hoarding Christmas
09:18hope my god isn't it great this was all in the basement yeah but doesn't look awesome and this
09:25is only room one of four how did you pay for all this well I do have a job I
09:32am a special education
09:33teacher grades two through four this year this is a very popular one with my students I will say
09:38they love it see it moves do you see a box anywhere dad that says flocked oh there you go

09:51tree that probably has asbestos in it you know dad that any dark hole that I can crawl into to

09:58something vintage and Christmas filled with asbestos sign me up asbestos that's what I said
10:03asbestos how do you pay for all this honey you know every time I look at your checking account
10:10there's not very much in it I got my first job at the mall when I was 15 and he's
10:15been on my account
10:16ever since because I needed a cosigner you know when she gets paid you know I see what her check

10:20then she transfers money into her savings account which I have no control over he can't see it and
10:25then I don't know what's in there you know now I think it's time that we cut bait I don't
10:32think it's
10:32time we're in a 15 year streak I say at least get to 20. any money that I put into
10:37vintage Christmas
10:37dad I'm gonna get back out of it yeah I've sold a ton at my sale this past summer and
10:43your P&L on
10:44that is how much what's a P&L oh god any money I make from selling parts of my collection

10:51go right back into the collection I don't see why I would put that money into a back into my

11:47beginning of a slasher movie I'll take a little peek when you squint your eyes yeah you could see that
11:52this section is brighter wait so we're gonna have 200 people here and you want them to squint
11:57we see it we get it where's the chair I have to come home with a chair
12:10what are you doing I'm trying to put these bugs on the tree but I can't find a spot
12:13the tree's done no I know the tree's done but we have bugs and I thought I bought more of

12:18and somebody touched something I think something broke because somebody moved something because
12:22there's no way I would put two ornaments like this next to each other okay well no one's been
12:26here you've been here I didn't I don't touch this tree we are months months away from the Christmas
12:33party and this sometimes this relaxes I know but are you redoing the whole thing no I'm just redoing
12:40this there's only about 20 percent left to do in the house I thought we were done you're gonna change
12:4520 no but like we didn't do anything in the living room I have to add some things because there's

12:49concept a new vision that I'm having and I have to execute it well I mean I guess it's good

13:09with my husband Dominic we have been together for just over 20 years married for 10. Matt discovered
13:17my Christmas fetish wait wait back up you can't say fetish I'm like legal but that's still legal
13:27Matt discovered my Christmas obsession when he came up to visit my family for the first time I saw all
13:35of
13:35the Christmas stuff on that trip and you were like wow this is cool it could use a little more
13:49magnolia
13:50because when you squint your eyes you could see that this section is brighter than that section so
13:55that's given the illusion that that section has lights out when it really doesn't it's just we didn't
14:00fill this one enough I started Christmas collecting since I was like seven it started
14:09because I think my mother wouldn't let me decorate anything so I think it was all this repressed energy
14:15and then finally at seven years old I got a ladder and decorated the outside of the house at that
14:20point
14:21my mother realized that I might have had a skill set that she didn't have to work so hard decorating
14:26anymore this is very bright why don't we just put less lights on the tree you can't have the elegant
14:32warm glow of a tree if you don't hide the lights when you squint your eyes you can see the
14:38dark spots
14:38of the tree it's pretty dim and very warm and then you get to this section and it's on fire
14:46I mean it
14:46might as well be at a hardware store we used to have New Year's Eve parties and I would not
14:52like it so
14:53much because it went from like all the warmth of Christmas into the New Year's explosion so we
14:59started to have a small Christmas party like 20 people and it just morphed into this bigger party
15:05and it takes many months to get the decorating done wait so we're gonna have 200 people here and you
15:12want them to squint no they don't need to squint but when the lights come down they'll see that it's
15:16one big beautiful glow not all this brightness if we want to write us when you squint that's the
15:22whole point just just the squint is a test to see where it needs more magnolia and less magnolia
15:31when decorating season is coming if Dominic says I'm just going to change a couple things
15:35it'll be fine this season will be easy no never he always changes everything but it also is like
15:43therapy to me we have so much stuff yeah how many wreaths one two three four five five times five
16:01that's 25 probably 40 40 why are you asking me how many well I'm just I'm trying to say so

16:08and what are these do you know how many you have well how many windows do we have there's one
16:13for
16:13each window that's not a hard one you don't even know how much you have I do too the amount
16:18of things
16:18that are downstairs is a lot more than even I realize sometimes I think that's one of many
16:27boxes of sticks no this is the only box of sticks that are white five to go get a box
16:31for him or if I'm
16:32looking for something or honestly if I'm looking for him so if it's kind of ugly why don't we get
16:37rid of it would you get rid of an ugly child no he's like sometimes three rows behind of shelves
16:45and
16:46boxes and spaces and I forget just how much there is twelve boxes of vintage ornaments I own a antique
16:54shop and I love my collection I mean there's no doubt about it just like somebody would buy a fancy
16:59car
17:00I know they're materialistic things but they do bring me joy so how many of these cosmic stars
17:06do you have well two broke so whatever it is minus two okay but maybe that's the whole point you
17:12don't
17:12know the quantity minus two I'm just saying look at all this stuff how can you not find something
17:18something something if I come up with a new concept in my head chances are I don't have it here
17:26because
17:27it's new just what if you had at your fingertips the entirety of your collection wait is this for a
17:37last will and testament like why do we need an accurate count no because I think if you knew how
17:41much you had it doesn't matter I could have a billion dollars worth of Christmas stuff but that's not gonna
17:45make me change my mind and not make me want the two things what if you could pick the person
17:49that
17:49come in and do it Dominic has so much that I sometimes think he forgets what he has my hope
17:56with the assessor is that once he sees this accounting and this list he may realize oh perhaps I don't

18:03need to be going out and getting more and more and more if you really want to have it assessed

18:10fine I mean so we're gonna do it we could do it oh I'm so excited to go to this

18:21really really old abandoned looking type building what are you hoping to get out of this place something
18:27mechanical something very old and moves I just got this text from Paul and I know him from picking
18:35paths there's a new place that I could pick from like across the street from his other place I ran
18:41right as soon as I could I don't do running come on let's go when I pick I'm after a
18:48certain decade of
18:49decorations pretty much from the 50s to the early 70s the most glitter the most shine the most fiberglass
18:57and other materials you probably shouldn't touch let's go the hell is this place Wow
19:05look at this place I love it it smells like mold it looks like it had a roof link for

24:09is probably like 2,500 square feet and the majority of it is holiday decorations this is one of my

24:37all righty let's see oh whoa holy cats wow I asked to borrow my dad's truck the other day to
24:46go pick up a
24:47chair for my boyfriend Kyle knowing that this chair was being held at an estate sale by my friends and
24:52also knowing that there was boxes of smelly vintage Christmas so I knew quite literally I
24:57wasn't going to be leaving with just a chair and I think my dad might never admit that but he
25:02he knows
25:02that too you know where did you hear about this one my friend Lori she does like clean outs and
25:09she was
25:10like hey you want to come through and just look so this is like literally before anyone's even been here
25:14well let's
25:15start digging in oh look at this you got one oh god oh my god he's so cute it's gonna
25:25go to your house
25:26Holly is my aunt we see it we get it and she's the person I call when I can't tell
25:31my mom or dad that I want to buy

26:29cute this reminds me of like the stockings that grandma knit for all of us with our names on them
26:33hi ladies are you finding treasures yes we have found a lot um you've met my aunt holly right I
26:38have yes yeah absolutely so I had a question for you um there's like a bucket or two buckets of
26:45ornaments in that back room and then there's all of this Christmas we were wondering if we could do
26:49like a lot listing or a lot sale so I've known hope for about three years she's one of our
26:54best
26:54customers she's been a friend and she buys from us all the time she loves to give all old things

26:59new home and give them a new purpose for everything on this table and the ornaments in the back yes
27:04and
27:05then everything on that table all the Christmas as well do you have a price in mind no well because
27:12you're a good customer how about 600 for everything 600 for all okay um yeah I think 600 will work

27:22that for the ornaments and these two tables yeah but would you be interested in everything in the
27:26basement upstairs and this room for 1200 if it's Christmas related yes just the Christmas and most

27:43do you need help I think I'm good I was supposed to be gone for an hour for a chair

27:50for that are you guys ready for this would you be interested in everything in the basement upstairs

29:11you're like I should have done that and then you're wondering what was in that Christmas box
29:14that you missed out on and I would rather not live with that and just take the money that chair

29:21not going with us it's there's no room for that oh let's take this one you said it was a

29:29it's not a lie I did plan on getting the chair and then I saw much room the chair would
29:34take up
29:35and then I found a different chair so I wasn't a lie I don't like lying well I hope Kyle

29:41I did come home with a chair I intended to come home with a chair it wasn't the chair I
29:45thought
29:46of but I came home with a chair all good intention well we should really get home and try and
29:51hide
29:51some of this we'll face the music but there'll be Christmas music yay I don't know if I'm ready
29:57for Christmas music after this Christmas cocktail all right Christmas cocktail
30:14the warehouse started because there was an antique collector and we would run sales once a month
30:20there and now it houses some of my larger decorations and a bunch of Christmas trees I don't know
30:26everything that's in a warehouse it's been years of stuff just sitting there with the crown and
30:46everything so whenever I go in and I do find something it does inspire me because I'm like
30:51oh this is great I remember buying this 40 years ago but now I'm getting to use it and bring
30:57it to
30:58life again and that's really a cool feeling there it is hello not now not now no hello hi where

32:26we agreed that we're gonna do an assessment we're gonna get an idea of what the inventory is no we
32:31didn't really agree I had said if we found something then I would go with a different concept
32:35but if we did not find something I'm pretty sure I said this we would use the original but we're
32:41not
32:41even done so I had this incredible vision and I knew I'd put the peacocks in a warehouse somewhere
32:49and I had to find them so that's why I went to the warehouse I'll just say this is the
32:54most bizarre
