00:09Sempaio for their latest campaign. The Brazilian model took to Instagram to share a
00:13selfie of herself on set for Victoria's Secret's pink brand. Although VS has yet to
00:18put out any official statement, the news was all but confirmed when fellow Brazilian
00:22and VS model Laís Ribeiro tweeted her excitement for Sempaio tweeting,
00:26first transgender to shoot with VS. Orange is the New Black star and LGBTQ advocate
00:31Laverne Cox also commented on the news writing, finally. The news of Victoria's Secret
00:35diversifying their roster comes less than a year after the lingerie company faced backlash
00:39after remarks made about transgender people walking in its annual fashion show.
00:44In an interview with Vogue, Ed Razek, chief marketing officer of Victoria's Secret's
00:47parent company, L Brand, was asked to explain why the annual Victoria's Secret fashion show
00:52does not include transgender or plus-size models. Razek said that
00:56trans and plus-size women do not exemplify the fantasy that the lingerie brand is trying to sell.

01:02My remark regarding the inclusion of transgender models in the Victoria's Secret fashion show
01:07came across as insensitive. We've had transgender models come to castings and like many others,
01:12they didn't make it. But it was never about gender. As for Sempaio, the model has already been
01:16making strides in the fashion industry before this. She was the first transgender model to grace the
