A truck transporting more than 400 beehives overturned in Orange County, Texas, releasing millions of honeybees into a rural neighborhood and prompting emergency officials to urge residents to remain indoors. Roads in the area were temporarily closed as first responders and local beekeepers worked together to secure the scene and recover as many hives as possible. Fortunately, no serious injuries or large-scale bee sting incidents were reported.
The accident occurred shortly after the hives began a journey toward North Dakota. According to local beekeepers, the driver mistakenly entered a neighborhood with narrow roads and lost control while attempting a tight turn. Experts fear that a significant portion of the colonies may not survive, particularly if many queen bees were lost in the crash. Volunteers from multiple beekeeping operations joined the recovery effort, transferring surviving hives and collecting stray bees, highlighting the strong cooperation within the local beekeeping community.
