00:00Robert Redford says President Donald Trump's, quote,
00:02monarchy in disguise must end for the good of the country.
00:06In an op-ed published Tuesday
00:07on NBC News' Think platform, the actor wrote,
00:10we're up against a crisis I never thought
00:12I'd see in my lifetime, a dictator-like attack
00:14by President Donald Trump on everything
00:17this country stands for.
00:18It's time for Trump to go, and it's up to us
00:20to make that happen through the power of our votes.
00:23Although he didn't vote for Trump,
00:24Redford says he gave the president a chance
00:26and hoped for the best, but it hasn't panned out.
00:29Almost instantly, he began to disappoint and then alarm me.
00:32I don't think I'm alone.
00:33What is happening right now is so deeply disturbing
00:35that instead of the United States of America,
00:38we are now defined as the divided states of America.
00:40Redford, who famously played Washington Post
00:42Watergate reporter Bob Woodward in the film
00:44All the President's Men, went on to say,
00:46this monarchy in disguise has been so exhausting and chaotic.
00:50It's not in the least bit surprising,
00:51so many citizens are disillusioned.
00:53The legendary actor also said,
00:55the vast majority of Americans are busy with real life,
00:58trying to make ends meet, and deeply frustrated
01:00by how hard Washington makes it to do just that.
01:03But this is it.
01:04There are only 11 months left
01:05before the presidential election.
01:0711 months before we get our one real chance
01:09to right the ship and change the course of disaster
01:12that lies before us.
