00:00On our homestead, I highly prioritize perennials, so here's my spring perennial garden tour.
00:04This right here is my prized work of art.
00:08I worked so many hours in this stone path, and I love it.
00:11This is a pink climbing rose bush that's going to climb up this trellis and be beautiful.
00:15And then on the other side over here, I have a white and pink morning glory that will do the
00:19same.
00:19This is a three-year-old lilac bush that is doing amazing, so hopefully it'll bloom next year.
00:25And then off to the side here is all of my raspberry plants.
00:29They're starting to put off little buds, so soon we will have raspberries.
00:33This is an apple mint that I moved into a planter this year so that it can grow but not
00:37take over my garden.
00:38Across from the raspberries, we have lemon balm, a comfrey plant that I really need to cut down because it's
00:43about to flower,
00:44and my year two asparagus patch will harvest from this in about two years.
00:47My method with this area has just been throw perennials in everywhere, so everything's kind of chaotic.
00:52This is oregano, a strawberry bed that kind of got a late start this year, a bleeding heart plant for
00:57my friend.
00:58This is my herbs and medicinal plants.
01:00The yarrow, I planted three plants last year, and it took over this year.
01:04We've got lavender, sage, hyssop, thyme, and some other random herbs in here.
01:08This used to be a mint bed, but my mint took over, so it's just in one planter up there.
01:13For now, I have annual flowers in here.
01:14My plan is to plant tulips and other perennial tubers in here this fall.
01:18Okay, well, this area may look like a mess.
01:20I promise there's some intention to it.
01:22We've got some random ground cover.
01:24I don't know what they're called.
01:25Irises, orange lilies, comfrey, yellow lilies, a peony for a friend, some white irises that
01:31have crashed down there, geranium and hostas, and then, you know, weeds.
01:35This is a section that I've done new this year, so that part's had a couple years to get lots
01:39of weed.
01:40This one hasn't.
01:41So I've got irises, some lilacs.
01:44I don't know what this is called.
01:46A tall phlox.
01:47Another lilac bush.
01:48Some yellow lilies.
01:49Mostly my method has been scatter stuff everywhere that I want, pull out some of the stuff I
01:54don't, mulch well, and see what happens.
01:56So far, it's working.
01:57Okay, last section.
01:58More irises, bleeding hearts, the lilac bush I showed you earlier, which I'm very excited
02:03about, and some persinthia bushes from my neighbor.
02:07Oh, and there's bee bulb right there.
02:08So if you're brand new to gardening or if you've never planted perennials before, let
02:11this video encourage you that you should because you do the work of planting once and then
02:14just a little maintenance in the spring and the fall, and you have beautiful low maintenance
02:18fruit and herbs and flowers.
02:20It's amazing.
02:21It's like my favorite kind of gardening.
02:22I want you to tell me in the comments what perennials you love the most and follow along
02:26for more.
