00:02Officials from the European Commission and 15 member states discreetly met with a Taliban
00:07delegation on Tuesday in Brussels in an attempt to speed up the deportation of Afghan migrants.
00:12Deportations have proven particularly difficult for Afghans who were among the top nationalities
00:17served with Britain orders in 2025.
00:20It will also be an opportunity for member states and for member states at technical level
00:24to establish contacts because it will be those member states that will have to carry out returns
00:34and that have to also be in touch themselves.
00:38And again, we speak here in the very first place about persons who pose a security threat
00:43and about serious criminals.
00:45Rights groups have criticized the meeting.
00:48Activists from the rights NGO Amnesty International unfurled a banner reading shame
00:53outside the European Commission in Brussels.
01:20Belgium stressed that granting visas to the delegation does not imply recognition of the Taliban.
